At MoldEaters, our goal is to help you and your family stay healthy and to help protect your home from the damaging effects of moisture, mold and harsh chemicals. We believe that the best way to do that is to offer you the latest information and then provide you with the services that can help you to identify and remove your mold problems safely and permanently.
Our buyers wanted to go with somebody else so we didn't use them. They came out promptly and gave us a nice bid. They quoted us about $1800. They seemed to have captured everything that we spoke about, when they were here, in the quote and told me what they would be doing; we knew where we stood with them. They were very good in being punctual and professional.

We had some black mold growing on the drywall near the floor under our living room window. Based upon Angie's List reviews we had MoldEaters come out and bid the job... we were wanting a local business to do the work. Brant looked the situation over and provided us with a bid. It seemed reasonable so we had them do it. After cutting out the contaminated drywall, it was found that the repair didn't require removing exterior siding as estimated. However, the work plan of caulking siding and fixing popped nails, decontaminating and drying inside the walls, wiping down furniture in the room, painting, replacing damaged drywall/ trim pieces, etc. came out to the same original quote. They did put up plastic walls around the contaminated areas and used a dehumidifier and industrial HEPA air cleaner during the job. Some high points were that they were easy to work with (Ex. let us specify what brand of paint to use), had good attention to detail (Ex. didn't install base trim they had already purchased when the lines didn't match up), and were very flexible in working with our schedule. Some areas for improvement were that some of their vehicles leaked oil on our driveway, and at times it seemed like more should have been accomplished during the hours worked. To my knowledge they didn't actually test for mold spores in the air either before or after. I do believe they offered that service but it would have cost more to send to a lab or whatever. Their quote said that afterwards the property was guaranteed to be within NAMM standards for mold. Seems like they would want to actually do some testing in order to make a guarantee.

Overall, they did a great job and I would recommend them.
Description of Work: They were great!! Lowes was installing hardwood floors in our rental property in Portland (we're on the East Coast) and walked off the job when they discovered mold by the dishwasher. Brant returned my call very quickly and was onsite within 24 hours. He worked well with the tenants and us. He created a barrier to keep the house safe for the tenants. He had to rip out the entire kitchen and remove all the subflooring. He was able to clean the cabinets and replaced the countertops. While it was stressful to find mold, they were great to work with and did a wonderful job. I would definitely recommend them.

They were very professional and efficient. They communicated well and were punctual and I would definitely use them again. I was very happy with their service!
Description of Work: They did mold testing in my basement. Then they cleaned and basically "detailed" the entire basement and all surfaces. (becuase mold can live in the dust particles.) They ended with an environmental enzyme solution/vapor which kills most mold. They also tested a few days after to ensure mold levels had dropped to a more normal range. When my mold levels had not dropped to a level they found acceptable, they suggested removing an old wall that had dry rot on the bottom and painting some wood surfaces with a special paint. This was very helpful and made a big difference!

We did not find the mold in our attic until we went into it to bring down Christmas decorations. The mold was everywhere. It was a gruesome sight. My wife has asthma and there was no doubt that the mold was affecting her. We started the process to get the mold removed. Three vendors were requested to come in, develop a proposal for removal of the mold. Two of the vendors proposed using anti fungal harsh chemicals to do the work. One vendor also proposed painting the entire inside the of attic with a white anti fungal sealer. The third vendor proposed using an enzymatic process that promised to leave the attic looking very close to the way it looked prior to the mold problem. Since we had not heard of an enzyme process we did a lot of research and determined that this was the best way to go, was the least invasive and at less than half the cost of the other processes proposed. Mold Eaters owner Brant Rude arranged everything. He was great. He was attentive to our concerns, he followed up every day during the 4 day period of the work, and ended up also fogging the garage as an added measure. In our particular case the insulation in the attic had to be removed and replaced. We learned that the insulation is normally not removed using the enzyme process. Three people showed up and began the work. The workers were polite, helpful and seemed to work hard all the time they were in the mold removal process. We felt comfortable with them and were convinced they did the job as well as it could have been done. And, the company owner was correct, the attic looked just like it did prior to the mold developing. WHAT WAS REALLY TELLING WAS THE COMMENT BY THE INDEPENDENT TEST LAB TECHNICIAN WHO SAID IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST MOLD ABATEMENT JOBS HE HAD SEEN.. We think Mold Eaters is an outstanding company. The work went smooth, it was thorough and it left us very very satisfied with the work performed and at a very satisfactory price.. We highly recommend the company and its employees and management. We had a perfect outcome, what else can we say.
Description of Work: Mold Remediation--Due to a a faulty installation problem much of the exhaust gas from our gas hot water tank was released into the garage instead of the chimney. There simply was not enough heat generated to push the gases up the large chimney flue during the colder days. The moisture and gases went into the attic and over a period of 10 months ended up causing a major mold problem in the attic. The company that did the work in the garage agreed to cover the costs for fixing the problem. They also let us select the process and vendor that we wanted.Mold Eaters was selected. They used an enzyme process to completely clean the attic. They put large Hepa filters in the attic and in the house. They sprayed the surface of the attic roof with enzymes and scrubbed the area with brushes and completely removed the mold. They also fogged the attic with the enzyme when they were don scrubbing to get rid of any mold spores and mold that might be left. A thorough post testing of the attic was then done by an independent testing laboratory. The lab technician pretty much said it was a perfect job and also tested well within the limits required for testing..

It was excellent. In the beginning I had three bids and Brant Rude of MoldEaters was the most personable and straightforward in looking at my situation. The mold was in a modestly difficult to access area in the attic. One of the three bidders did not look at the problem firsthand as there were pictures of the mold area taken by a different company that had first identified the problem several years earlier. I still appreciated the fact that Brant went in for himself to verify the problem and estimate its scope. He was clear in his explanations of what he thought the problem was and what his company would do to resolve it. He didn't try to oversell me. On the contrary, he explained that it was not a serious problem but agreed that it was one that should be remediated. The technician was thorough, polite, and appeared to do his job without creating any problems. He answered any questions I had and worked straight through. I have looked the area over myself since and I am satisfied that the work was done in an efficient and quality manner. I recommend this company. A final note is that the initial estimate was over $900. However, at the time of payment I asked Brant if the technician had done the work in less time than originally estimated. Brant checked, agreed that the job went more smoothly than expected, and billed me for less money. I think this attests to the honesty of the company.
Description of Work: A MoldEaters technician (name forgotten) came out and cleaned up a relatively small mold problem in my attic. The technician placed drop cloths on my stairway to protect the carpeting and used shoe booties to protect the floor. He brought in HEPA air scrubbers to contain any mold spores stirred up during the cleaning process. He then scrubbed the area with mold to remove any visible signs, and fogged the entire attic with an enzyme product that removes mold and mold spores. The process took around six hours and he thoroughly cleaned everything up before he left.

On April 4th and 5th 2012 we had the unfortunate experience of needing repairs to our house before we could sell and move onto the next chapter in our life. MoldEaters came in and placed a drain pipe / sump pump system in our crawl space and rerouted the bathroom exhaust fan ducting to new vents out of our attic. Without hesitation Mr. Rude and his team took direct ownership of our situation and made our experience liveable and flow smoothly. This could have turned into months of headaches, but was done with quality in 2 days. Mr. Rude and his team were very professional and and quot;not out to milk us for all we haveand quot;. There work was very high quality and made our house turn out better than it was when initially built. It has been our experience that when employees provide quality customer service of the highest caliber, the customers tend to recommend and come back for further services. We commend Mr. Rude and his team for the value of there services provided and we feel grateful to be one of their customers. Based of the service we have received by MoldEaters, we will not hesitate to recommend this company to all our associates and friends!
Description of Work: To keep mold from returning to attic the bathroom exhaust fans have had the ducting ran to a new designated roof stem vent. Crawl space had a 3" perforated drain pipe installed along the north and west wall, they were ran to the SW corner where low point drain is. A sump pump was then installed and connected to the rain drain system. They then cleaned up after themselves.

Brant Rude provided a thorough assessment and options for mold remediation. He sent us a complete description of what they could do, with estimated costs for different aspects of service including work in the attic, ground floor to assure all spores eliminated and installation of fan for increasing ventilation in the attic. He suggested several ways to eliminate condensation and moisture in the attic. He and his crew were very professional, respectful, pleasant and highly competent completing their work in one day and returning two days later for retesting. It was a pleasure to work with them. I'm very pleased with the outcome at this point and the assurance he'll return if we notice mold coming back and in the near future to check it out himself. I felt a lot of confidence hiring them due to the reviews I read on your list and also to his comportment, advice and work.
Description of Work: Provided free assessment of moldy attic in our primary home. Scrubbed mold with enzyme solution from attic ceiling and joists, fogged attic with enzyme stuff, bagged moldy articles in attic for our disposition and installed a fan to increase air circulation and provided us with enzyme solution to do further cleaning in our house on the ground floor. Returned to test attic area to assure mold was gone and will return in a month or so to check again.

Brant and his crew were pretty good to work with. It was sometimes unclear when his workers would show up and then sometimes they would just leave without a word, but they were courteous and professional. There were some issues with the walls in our house not being entirely at right angles which complicated the shower installation, but they came up with a pretty good solution in the end. There was actually no mold permeating into the home beyond the shower structure which was removed, so mold remediation was not required. However, it was nice having a contractor who took precautions such as sealing off the workspace and providing negative air pressure to outside when the demolition was in progress. There was a small issue of leaking around the glass frame at the end of the project, possibly due to the wall angles mentioned above, but they took care of it without hesitation. I would definitely recommend these guys, mainly because Brant very clearly wants to make sure that the work is done right and communication with him is generally very good and he is very responsive. Basically, even though the project took a little longer than we planned, it was worth it to know that the contractor held his own work to a high standard and that the job would get done correctly.
Description of Work: Brant and his crew replaced an old shower stall that had water leaking into the wooden surround and drywall. They were hired because of their experience in mold remediation as well as remodeling experience. Services included removing old shower stall and built-in framing as well as replacing plumbing and fixtures and putting in a new acrylic and glass shower surround with new tile trim. We provided all of the materials.

I think I've probably covered it all. He was prompt, honest, intelligent, constructive, and more than fair.
Description of Work: We had talked with a different company who charged $75 to come out and wasn't actually interested in INSPECTING anything--he just gave us prices (big prices) for doing work he decided needed doing without doing any monitoring to determine the actual moisture/mold situation we had. MoldEaters on the other hand was crazily helpful and didn't actually charge us anything. He helped the contractor move the fridge and drill holes in inconspicuous places so he could insert his monitors and see what the situation was. He said the water damage we'd experienced had been superficial (it occurred over an extremely short period of time) and that there was no evidence of brewing mold or rot at all, but that we could use a dehumidifier for a few days for extra measure if we wanted to, which we decided to do. He said he'd performed no mold remediation because none was needed so there would be no charge. We were very impressed and heartily recommend him for coming prepared, for providing expertise and assistance, for being practical, and obviously having integrity. If he'd have asked us for $75, we would very happily have paid it.

I don't recall exactly when I used Brandt. I was trying to get my house ready to put on the rental market, and needed a bunch of work done. Now that house is rented, I have time to do review- it was some time this Fall. I had done nothing to my basement for the 8 years I lived there. I knew I didn't need someone to come and tell me I had mold (duh). Brandt came out and gave me an honest assessment. He also worked with me and my budget (which was quite limited) to allow me to be able to do as much of the work as I could on my own. They were polite, did a great job, and afterwards when I thought that there was a problem (there wasn't) Brandt didn't avoid me, instead came right out to look and see if there really was a problem. He also said if there ever was a problem to call him. Overall, a great experience:) Thanks guys!
Description of Work: My basement was covered in mold- and I mean c-o-v-e-r-e-d, black, orange, pink, fuzzy white, it was nasty and I had no idea what to do. I got a few quotes, and hoped for the best. Brandt cleared all the mold, "diamond-scraped" (?) it. Then repainted with mold-resistent paint. I needed to get the house ready for a rental. They left everything spotless. They were fast, polite and there was no odor.

Got two wildly different opinions from other vendors. ServPro charged us $100 just to come and take a look. Their tech thought that we probably needed to replace all the insulation and several spots of roof sheeting and shingles as well - between $4,000 and $10,000! They also required that we immediately hire a recommended mold hygienist to consult on the mold - another $250!) The hygienist, upon visual inspection, said it was no big deal after all, just clean it up and seal it with paint. Then the hygienist and ServPro were at odds about just how much damage there were was, how to repair it, and how much it would eventually cost. We were already out $350 and no work had even been done! MoldEaters to the rescue! Brandt was prompt and came to take a look at the problem the next day at no cost to us. He agreed with the hygienist that it just needed to be cleaned up. Not only did he bid to clean up the mold, but he also noticed that our attic insulation had been trampled during the repairs and bid to top it off and repaint the exterior eaves after the outside damage was repaired as well. I liked his techniques of cleaning and the use of non-toxic materials, and the idea that the areas would be treated, but left visible, as opposed to being painted over. This would allow for a future buyer to see that the areas were clean and clear of mold, not something hidden under a paint layer. Clean is always better than covered! They cleaned up all the mold and then used a non-toxic enzyme to treat the rest of the attic insulation as well to prevent further mold growth. It turned out that the damage was minimal - no effect on the roof sheeting inside the attic! On the outside, it turned out that the mold growth was more extensive than we could see from ground level, but it was only on the paint surface - it had not affected the paint or underlying wood in the eaves. It simply needed cleaning after all, not repainting! Brandt credited our invoice that very day to remove the repainting charges without my even asking about it. His crew returned a few days later to top off the insulation as promised. The MoldEaters crew was professional, courteous and clean. Brandt himself was very knowledgeable about his field and answered all of our questions with considerable expertise. They provided a lifetime guarantee of their work! They did their jobs well and quickly, with little disruption to the household while they were here. Excellent experience all the way around. I would definitely recommend them! I'm so glad to have found them through Angie's List!
Description of Work: The original construction in our 7 year old home included bad venting in the upstairs bathrooms. We saw visible mold growth on the exterior under the eaves where the fans were exhausting. While the fans and venting were being repaired, they also found mold growth inside the attic and on the insulation in the area of the vents. The cheap fans had not been removing the moist bathroom air effectively for 7 years, allowing mold to grow in the outside eave structures and also inside the attic bays where the warm uninsulated flex pipe ran through the attic.

Tom was on time and did his work diligently. They also fixed partly broken french door that opens to the deck. Brant Rude was very responsive to my questions. He was a bit slow to respond on one occasion but nothing to take a start away (Life has its own priorities). Overall, mold eaters did an excellent job! Keep it up guys.
Description of Work: I had a deck with incorrect flashing and it caused water damage. Brant Rude came and checked for mold. He was cheaper than another reputable company from the angieslist. They installed the flashing correctly. I also had two broken bathroom counter top tiles and caulking around the bath tub. Tom came to the house on time performed all the tasks including some grouting.
