James Boatman, the owner, was contacted in June 2013 to manage a property for us in Battle Ground WA. We signed a contract in which he would receive 10% of the rent in exchange for management services: finding suitable tenants, making sure no damages etc. The contract stated that minimum rental period was to be 12 months. After signing the contract, we never heard from him except for rent check directly deposited into our bank account. We live on the east coast and so were not available to check up on his management. We thought he was taking care of things as agreed upon in the contract. Boy, were we wrong!! We found out from a tenant that he was renting the house on a month to month basis and allowing people to damage the property and not holding them accountable for repairs. We traveled to Washington in July 2015 to see for ourselves the condition of the property. Some of the damages include a broken bathroom window, pink nail polish spilled on the carpet, broken garage window, the stove was so filthy it needed to be replaced, a vine that he promised to cut back for us was allowed to grow up to the roof of the house damaging the edge of the roof and more. In October 2014 I emailed Mr. Boatman and instructed him to hire a chimney sweep to inspect and clean the chimney since the primary source of heat is the fireplace. I requested again in November and December He never took care of my request. The tenants also asked for a chimney cleaning. His negligence is mind boggling!! How could you not perform basic maintenance that could result in my house burning down? In February 2015 I informed Mr. Boatman that he was fired because of his gross negligence in the management of the property. We still don't know how many tenants he paraded through our house on a month to month basis or who is responsible for the damages. If you don't want your property destroyed, don't hire this firm.
