Less than 1 year after our remodel a hose came lose from our jetted tub that Tom installed. Water ran from the tub and into our kitchen below. Since Tom enclosed the tub with tile we paid him to cut an access hole through our wall so if anything were to go wrong we could see/get under the tub. To our dismay the access hole that Tom provided has an electrical junction box right smack in the middle of the hole. So the access hole is useless. We called Tom to ask him what he thought might have gone wrong since he was the one to install the tub, left a message as he did not answer. We did not get even as much as a courtesy call back. Obviously Tom does not stand behind or warranty his work.

Description of Work: Had master bath remodeled. Got started a little later than expected, and took a little longer than expected. But it all turned out great. Price was competitive. Tom was very easy to work with and fair. It turned out very nice, and met my expectations.

Our work began on 4/7, 2 months later we still do not have countertops. Things have gone slowly but pretty well, until the end. The project started over 2 weeks late and took longer than Tom had anticipated so there was a big rush at the end that left us majorly stressed over the finish work. Tom was rushing to finish based on his schedule, not ours. We lost many nights sleep over feeling like we spent a lot of money and ended up with something we felt was less than satisfactory. Some instances of this: tiles hung upside down, paint on the woodwork and an all around bad paint job, mirrors hung and pulling out of the wall, molding cut short leaving a gap between it and the tile, cabinet drawers running into one another, chipped tile, a hole underneath one of the sconces because the hole was cut incorrectly, a deep gouge in our door molding from the bathtub being brought into the room, and crooked cabinet handles. We walked Tom through each item we felt needed to be fixed/repaired to our satisfaction. Tom was not happy about being called on these issues and argued that we were too picky. Tom did end up putting some putty in the hole in the wall below the sconce. He rehung the upside down tile. He slapped some grout in the chip in the tile, rehung the mirrors so that they did not fall off the wall, and improved the paint job. Tom did not address all of our issues, some of them he just said it was as good as we were going to get. Once Tom had finished these repairs he came to me and demanded payment on the spot. I told him I would like to have my husband review his final work and go over the billing and asked if we could pay him in the morning. Tom was steaming mad. He asked what time my husband got home from work and then he sat on the road waiting for my husband to arrive and followed him down the driveway. My husband did not have time to come into the house and use the bathroom and Tom was at the door. We paid Tom our third and final installment in full as well as the long list of change requests he presented at the end of the job as he was so angry we were fearful a fist fight might break out. Tom was non-negotiable on his long list of 'Change Requests', he felt all of the items were over and above his original bid. Tom has been paid in full and we still face the issue of the cabinets drawers running into one another, crooked cabinet handles and other issues that we will hire someone else to fix or decide to live with. Other issues we had to address with Tom was that he incorrectly over billed the sales tax on the job using the incorrect tax rate. We caught this mistake and it saved us $200.00 in sales tax. Tom states in his bid that all change request will be discussed but there was little to no discussion and we were hit with $2000.00 in change requests at the end of the project that were a surprise to us, several items seemed inflated, we asked for receipts and they were not provided. Some of the items on the change request list were $5.00 and $10.00 and some were hundreds of dollars. After seeing his list I had to ask for credit for the items that were in his bid that he did not do for various reasons. It was not a surprise that our credits did not add up in the way his 'extra work' did. There were things that Tom did well, we have a new bathroom that is beautiful in many ways. Communication, scheduling, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction are not his forte in our opinion.
Description of Work: We hired Covenant Home Improvement to complete our unfinished master bathroom and tile a second bathroom shower walls. Covenant was our second highest bid, once the job was finished and we were hit with all of his change requests it became the highest bid out of 4 contractors.
