Description of Work: Shiner Roofing has performed repair work on my townhome for the past 3 years due to horrible wind storms. The most recent was on February 28, 2017. Each time I have called for service they were ultra professional, courteous, very detailed to identify the problem to be repaired. My home is only 7 years old but the builder put the wrong wind shingles (60 mile instead of 120 or 130) on my roof and at year 5 starting to seek repair work from Shiner Roofing. I trust them and know for sure they will do an outstanding job. Luke just did my last repair and he was amazing and eagerly answered and questions and concerns I had. I was truly impressed with his kindness and professionalism. A representative always follows up with a call the next day to ensure the work was done to my satisfaction and if I had any further questions. I wish all service companies were this responsive and caring!!! My comment at the end was, "If your work is as good as your presentation, we will be very happy." The work was as good. The roof was completed in one day when promised. The siding and gutters were completed as promised. The workmen were professional and a thorough cleanup was accomplished at the end of the job.

+ -1 moreVery well. I suspect we were an easy sell since we had an active leak in our dining room and already knew the entire roof needed replacing. We heard about Shiner from a neighbor, who had had a positive experience, and verified their reputation on Angie's List. When we met with the salesperson and received the initial "low end" (basic shingle replacement) and "high end" (shingles, flashing, wood, copper, etc.) both were just below our own internal estimates. Given their reputation and their fair quotes, we did not bother getting additional estimates. Their work crew showed up when expected and completed the job in two days. We had a lot of wood replaced which concerned me a bit since by the time I got home all the "replaced" wood was covered in shingles. When I asked the foreman about the location of the replaced wood and the problems with the original wood, he took me to his car and pulled out a digital camera containing numerous photos of the replaced wood. I was impressed.
Description of Work: Roof replacement. The project consisted of removing the old roof (one layer of 15-year-old shingles), replacing bad wood, and installing a new shingle roof using CertainTeed Hattaras Premium Shingles. The new roof included "Shingle Vent II" and "Smart Vent" ventilation system since the original part of the house, a 1939 Cape, had no meaningful ventilation. A copper standing seam roof was installed over the front porch/stoop for appearance and because the slope of the roof in this location was not steep enough for asphalt shingles. Original flashing was replaced everywhere, with copper used on the front of the house and aluminum on the rear.

+ -1 moreThe entire project was completed in one day. Shiner Roofing had a crew of about 10 persons working on the project, starting at 0900 and completing at around 1630. All work was done completely and to the specifications presented as part of the estimate process. The yard was cleaned up. The estimate process was outstanding as the estimator climbed onto the roof and took digital photographs of areas that would require repair. Thus, it was very easy to reconcile the statement of work and line items in the estimate with the existing conditions. The final prices was NOT the lowest. However, the Shiner personnel presented themselves more professionally that any of the other bidders.
Description of Work: Asphalt roofing material was removed from existing roof, underlayment repaired and new 25 year roofing installed. Remove and replace 4" aluminum gutters and down spouts from front of house.

+ -1 moreShane Belzer was professional when he came to give us an estimate and was very accommodating about scheduling the job in our desired time frame. The appointment was scheduled and canceled several times due to weather conditions. Finally it was rescheduled for the weekend. We waited at home all day on the Saturday, but the crew never arrived. We called and left a message on the company voice mail. The supervisor called first thing on Monday morning to apologize and offer reparations. He sent his crew out right away to do the job and the skylight was installed to our satisfaction. We also received a reduction on the bill in consideration for our time. In the end, the company acknowledged the scheduling mishap and took responsibility for their error. They seem genuinely concerned about customer satisfaction.

+ -1 moreI attempted to contact them on various occasions before they returned my call. The estimate was schedule about a month later. They had given us a time frame of a month that they would begin the work, however, they had an opening and called to ask if the work could be done that day instead of another day. That was fine and they came and did the work, however, nothing was left to indicate that the job had been completed. They were very prompt at responding back to phone calls. Shane Belzer (inspector) was pretty good at making suggestions on other work that might need to be done. We had another company make the same suggestions but at a higher price.
Description of Work: They replaced the ridge vents on our roof.

+ -1 moreI called to set an appointment for a person to look at the roof and provide an estimate of costs to make repairs. I was told someone would get back to me. I had to call two additional times on successive days before my call was returned on October 2. The rep wanted to schedule an appointment for late October, which I said was too far in the future, given the roof was leaking. The appointment was then set for one week (October 9) from the date of our conversation. The morning of the appointment, the rep called me to state they would not be able to make the appointment. They wanted to set the appointment for mid-week, but I could not do that as I would have to leave work. They were not willing to make an accommodation for a Saturday or Friday afternoon, even though they had cancelled the original appointment. I decided to try another roofer.
Description of Work: There were roof leaks around the chimney.

The estimator, Mark Watson, was very knowledgeable and patiently answered all of our questions, as well as providing digital photos of both the roof and our newly repaired chimney. Although we were told that it could be up to a month before we could be scheduled, it was actually less than two weeks. The installation team (under foreman Salvador) did a great job and took good care of our landscaping. There was only one glitch - the gutter installers removed existing gutters from our garage, although the garage was not part of the package. We called Shiner and new gutters were installed immediately. Everyone with whom we dealt was courteous and professional.
Description of Work: Replaced shingles, some planking, and all gutters and downspouts on our 60 year old home.

+ -1 moreThey were very helpful and supportive with the estimate. It took several months to actually schedule the job because there was so much rain in the fall. Once the forecast cleared, they scheduled just a few days ahead and were prompt and thorough. The roof works well and the flashings look good. Only two complaints: One, that they never offered us the option of any roof ventilation on this type of roof, because heat is trapped with nowhere to go, the lack of ventilation will cut our roof's life span in half. They said they only offer ventilation options on flat roofs if the customer asks for it. (Their estimate is $1300 to retrofit ventilation. Ugh.) Two, their workers kicked one of our porch-lights and seriously damaged it. After negotiation, Shiner agreed to credit us with the cost of repair, but they would not just go ahead and fix it (or find someone to fix it).
Description of Work: Company installed new EPDM flat roof on duplex. They removed all old roofing and disposed of it. Replaced flashings, fascia boards and some rotted boards in the roofing structure. They were quick to complete the work -- only took about three days start to finish. They left the job site in perfectly clean condition.
