Reroofed our Vienna, Virginia townhome. Very professional estimator. Work was done on time and within original cost estimate. We are very happy with this firm. The do excellent work.

It went smoothly from start to finish. The representative showed up on time for the initial consultation, work was done efficiently and when specified. They set up their equipment in our driveway and ran the large hose (don't know what else to call it) through our front door, down the hall and up the attic access ladder. Drop cloths were used, all surfaces protected and any debris removed before they left. We are extremely pleased with the results, especially since our home is much warmer and cozier now.

Shiner's representative was knowledgeable and professional. Job was completed on time. The yard was clean when they were done. The job was inspected and passed with no problems. Will definitely use them again.

The Shiner work crew, approximately 6 workers, arrived on the day and at the time scheduled. The workers were very polite and were careful not to bring any dirt into the house. They immediately started removing the old windows and then carefully installed each new window. They spent a great deal of time ensuring that each window was properly aligned in the open space. After each new window was installed, new aluminum flashing was installed over the existing exterior wood trim. The workers did a great job getting the flashing to fit perfectly over the wood trim. Then they applied premium grade sealant around the exterior and interior trim. The sealant beads were perfect. After each window was installed, a worker came in the house and used a shop vacuum to clean up anything that may have fallen on the carpet. Workers also did a great job cleaning up anything that had fallen onto the grass or the shrubs below the new windows. Before leaving, the crew supervisor made sure that the work was properly completed. Shiner also sent a quality assurance person several days after the work was completed to ensure that everything was perfect. Shiner Roofing did a great job and the new windows work perfectly, are energy efficient, and look great. I was very satisfied with the entire experience.

Home was sold. Small roof leak discovered. Needed repair ASAP. Cause of leak was difficult to find, but Shiner persisted until it was properly fixed. In time for closing on house.

Excellent Service . . . Shiner dealt directly with our insurance company on many issues and made sure we were covered for items initially left off the estimate by the insurance company's estimator. They were prompt, maintained excellent communication throughout the process and were very responsive to questions or issues that arose during the job.

We have used Shiner before. They replaced our windows a few years ago. Projects with Shiner are done with great professionalism and customer service. They are expensive but worth it.

Shiner roofing was prompt, thorough, and trustworthy. I needed them to come out the same day, and they made it right away. They even told me that my skylights were fine!

I had used Shiner about five years earlier for a more extensive roof repair with satisfactory results so I had decided to give them the business again. The Shiner rep came as scheduled, examined the roof and immediately told me I needed a new roof even though the roof appeared to be in good shape, except for the leaking area. He then gave me a qoute in excess of $16,000 for a new roof that included 40-year Certainteed shingles. He told me I needed to sign the contract within a certain number of days or the price would be higher. I then did some research on Shiner via Angie's List and Washington Checkbook and noticed a constant theme of comments that accused Shiner of telling potential customers they needed a new roof when they did not. Beyond that, there were several comments about Shiner overcharging customers for their services. I then called a more highly rated roofer, Katchmark Construction, for a bid. The Katchmark's sales rep told me I did not need a new roof; that I only needed repairs to one specific area of the roof at a cost of about 10% of the Shiner qoute for a new roof. Since I am considering selling the house in the near future, I asked for a qoute on a new roof from Katchmark. To my surprise, the qoute was $10,000 and Katchmark offered me top of the line Lifetime Certainteed shingles. I signed a contract and they did an excellent job. Shiner used to be a highly repected firm but in my opinion they no longer deserve that reputation. I do not trust them and would never use them again. I used to see their trucks in my neighborhood on a regular basis but that is no longer the case (for obvious reasons).

a long well-executed sales pitch, but in the end their cost proposal was way too high. I got 4 proposals and theirs was way above the second highest. I strongly advise others to get 3 other estimates and compare apples-to-apples. Many of my neighbpors have used Shiner and the neighbors seem to be satisfied.

Shiner was very responsive. I received a phone call almost immediately after submitting an online request for information. The initial rep I spoke to took down my basic information and asked questions to clarify what I needed. Part of his initial questions consisted of asking me if I lived alone, if I was the sole owner of my house and asking me to confirm no one lived with me. 3 times! I am sure there is a reason he kept asking but I was very clear in my first response and as a single woman living alone it made me very uncomfortable. I was at the point where I was going to tell him to cancel my request but this was one of the only companies that called me back and I needed to get my gutters fixed. In contrast to the phone rep, the sales rep they sent out to look at the damage was very professional and even ran through a downpour to look at my gutters and then come talk to me. He also went back out to house later in the week to get a better look at what was needed and to measure. He was very responsive, quickly sent me a quote and I didn?t feel like he was trying to sell me something I didn?t need. However, I couldn?t get over the initial questions from the person that scheduled the appointment. The whole time the sales rep was in my house all I could think about was what if he is here casing my place since they know I live alone, with no one else, confirmed.

They were terrific. Kevin Shiner was good to work with. He gave us a price and we told him that we got lower estimates, but since we liked him we asked if he could work with us on the price and he did. He was here all the time and he was terrific. We would use them again.

I think Kevin Shiner is the CEO of the company. He was terrific. I had 4 other estimates. It took me a while to figure out things while I was comparing what I was buying. Kevin came here. He was expensive. I liked him and I told him that I would like to work with him if we could agree on a price. We agreed on the same price the other people were giving. I spent about $25,000. It was good. I think I got my money?s worth. It was a complete roof replacement. They took out 2 layers of the old roof. The people who came here were great. Kevin was constantly coming here to check on them and they followed up through beautifully. He was terrific to work with. I liked his responsiveness. I will definitely use this company again.

They discovered the problem was with the siding and was honest in their solution. They told me I could do the work myself and save a great deal of money. I appreciated their honesty.

He was very knowledgeable. He came out and did an extensive overview of their product line. They certainly had a good product, but we did not go with them based on their prices. When he came out he was very professional. When they gave me the bid over the phone I told them that I wouldn?t be interested because their price was high. I got a call from the manager a couple of days later, and I told him that I had already signed a contract with another company. That part of the process was not as smooth as it could?ve been. I think I would use them for roofing in the future, though.

We selected a company that was not the lowest price, but seemed to have best reputation and story. When work was completed, we were pleased with the job and felt we had made the best choice.

When I made the original appointment I was told that usually with the problem I was describing our gutter might need to be removed and the replacement would need to happen at another time and would I like to make an appointment just in case. I did that and I am glad that I did. A salesman came to the door to replace my gutter - which turned out not to be necessary. I was suprised to see him and he was unhappy that the appointment was never concelled. I retold him my experience and he was very concerned. He said that the situation would cause him to lose business - so true. The salesman call the company president, Ken Shiner. Mr. Shiner called me so that I could give him all the details of my situation. He was extremely apologetic. He was concerned how the whole situation was handled and that was not the reputation he wanted his company to have. He was determined to make me happy. The outcome was that I was refunded $500.00 as well as 2 $25 gift cards. I am very pleased with the outcome and I would consider using this company again if I connected directly with Mr. Shiner. Mr. Shiner assured me that he spoke with all involved and was sure that customer service would be greatly improved.

Not well. We had some water damages on the walls and ceilings and suspected problems with the roof. I checked my records and noted that the roof was installed by Shiner about 12 1/2 years ago. Since the shingles had a 25 year warranty, I called them to see if any work can be covered under the warranty. The response was very prompt, and said they'll send someone the day after. During the interval it snowed, so when the person called to say he is on his way, I told him there was snow on the roof. He sounded surprised. Duh! But he wanted to come over anyway to introduce himself. Fine. He came, we discussed, and agreed he'll come another time. From then on, there was total disconnect between the dispatcher and the sales person, as if there were no communication between them. Eventually, the sales person come and gave me an estimate, showed me on his laptop the scope of the work. I asked him to send me a copy of the estimate by email. No problem, he said. I still have not heard from him, which was about 10 days ago. Anyway, I had the same work done by Davis Roofing for less than half the cost quoted by Shiner.

They got the work done in less than a day and they also cleaned up after themselves. They were very efficient and communicated well with me. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service.

They gave us an estimate and presented us with a plan. My son is an architect and he went over the plans with them and pointed out some problems with their proposal. They worked very well with him in terms of doing the correct work. In other situations, people do not respond that well but these guys were very open to learning about our unique situation. I would definitely use them again.

I was very pleased with Shiner's work and thought their price was fair, although I did not get estimates from other roofers. Their estimator was knowledgeable and professional. He provided photos of the areas on the roof that needed replacement, which he displayed on his laptop. He was able to quickly recommend a plan and work up an estimate. The work crews that came to do the work were also very professional and a pleasure to deal with. The person who fabricated the cricket for the back of the chimney housing took photos to show me exactly what he had done. He was obviously proud of his work, which is nice to see. They cleaned up daily and when they had finished the work area was left spotless. The office staff we dealt with was invariably helpful and accommodating, scheduling around our needs and keeping in touch when weather or other problems interrupted work. Overall, a very good job. Others in my townhouse cluster have used this company and to my knowledge they also have been pleased.

They did an excellent job with the roof. The sales man who extremely helpful. He went up onto the roof with us and pointed out everything that we would need to do from the roof to the gutters. They were very prompt with the service. They did a great job with the clean up and everything looked great. The roof has held up just fine since they finished the work.
