Description of Work: Today I met Mr. Jim Miller who is a Sales Consultant with Shiner Roofing. I have a leak in the roof of over my kitchen and called Shiner Roofing for a repair/replacement quote. Mr. Miller arrived and thoroughly inspected the roof. With no evidence of where the leak originated Jim borrowed a hose, got up on the roof and sprayed each area with water until he located the source of the leak. Best news to me was that the source of the leak was in a window frame that came with a 20 year warranty. Jim really went above and beyond to id this leak and saved me from wasting money repairing a roof that is not leaking. I really appreciate his spending so much time helping me out. This going the extra mile on his time really impressed me and I know when it is time for a new roof I'll call Jim Miller of Shiner Roofing.

+ 0 moreJohn Campbell, Shiner's estimator, did an excellent job of checking the problem out completely and identifying the least cost and most effective solution. John had done similarly the year prior when we asked for an assessment on roof insulation and John honestly assessed that increasing the insulation would do little to reduce the heat load, but did suggest attic fans which have done a super job in reducing the interior heat. For this year's gutter replacement work, the installation crew arrived on the day and time planned and had the job completed in a few hours. They were professional, courteous and efficient and cleaned up the area before departing. Very good job by all concerned from Shiner on this and the previous project we had them do last year.
Description of Work: We had a leak into the house front closets from what appeared to be the roof that had created a large area of damage on the ceiling and walls. Called Shiner roofing because they had done work for us previously and had been impressed with their professionalism and outcomes. Their estimator arrived on-time and conducted a thorough inspection of the roof area and decided it was likely a problem with the gutters rather than the roof itself. We ordered new gutters for the front of the house. When the new gutters were in place I repaired the interior ceiling and walls and repainted. There has not been another leak since the new gutters were installed, excellent outcome.

Description of Work: Our house has 6 exterior dormer windows which had rotted. Shiner replaced all exterior wood on dormers with a composit material that looks like wood and did an OUTSTANDING JOB of finishing the windows.

They spent lots of time working with me on some very difficult issues including restructuring part of my roof which was designed badly and replacing a brand new roof on a screen porch which i had just had built. They inspected their work and went above and beyond to make sure that i was completely satified.

I was astounded that there were able to finish the whole roof in one day. they came back a second day to do the gutters. I will definately use them again.....hopefully not for another 30 years though which is the next time I will need a new roof.

+ 0 moreWe got estimates from three firms and although Shiner was the most expensive we picked them anyway. the guy who came to do the estimate was the only one who climbed up into the attic to see the state of the plywood from the inside. He spent a long time with me talking about how they would approach the ventilation and that we could get by without an attic fan. One of the other companies insisted on putting in a fan, which we did not want. The execution was excellent. They took two days. A couple of weeks later the inspectors came and found some minor things, so the roofers returned one day and made those fixes. They put in the gutters a couple of days after finishing roof. The gutters have performed very well even in the recent gullywashers. A really professional operation all around.

From the initital phone contact to the visit by John Campbell for an estimate to the work accomplished shortly thereafter by the crew led by Fidel, all went smoothly and without crisis of any type. Everyone was courteous, professional and eager to do a great job. And that is what was accomplished
Description of Work: The most recent work undertaken by Shiner on my property involved removal of old gutters/downspouts and installation of new gutters/downspouts. My home is very old and accomodations needed to be made for the installation to work properly. Additionally, I decided to have additional gutters/downspouts installed after making the original arrangements. In both instances, the company/employees were professional and made the arrangements necessary for each of these contingencies to happen. With all of the rain we have experienced recently in the DC area, I am very happy I had this work done. Previously I had my roof replaced by Shiner Roofing and everything went like clockwork on this job, as well.
