Was happy with the service review and options...just thought the price was high for my own situation so didn't proceed.

The initial estimate meeting went well. They were really nice and seemed knowledgeable about ways to reduce cost of insulation. They indicated that they use their own employees and that they never bring in a third party. They advertise that they do gutters, so we thought we had the best of both worlds, but as it turns out, they only replace gutters, not repair them. The day of install, they were nice, but they did not know what they were supposed to do. They asked me whether insulation was going over the garage and some other details that I thought for sure would be passed along by the sales associate. In the end, they installed within three hours and were relatively quiet considering what they had to do. They gave me a survey, which I thought was a little weird, considering it was not confidential and seemed "just part of the process." I also thought a survey would be more appropriate several days after the install, when you can have a better idea of whether the insulation was working. In the end, we are happy with the install and hope to see some real reductions in our electricity bill.

Thanks goodness, I had my insulation upgraded in the fall! I had the insulation in my 60-year old house upgraded about 6-7 years ago (from someone not on Angie's List). Since then certain portions of the roof began to grown killer icicles in winter, even mild ones. I decided to have the attic on my split level inspected to see if there were any problems, and see how the problem with the icicles could be fixed. The inspection showed that some areas had no insulation, others had insulation sitting on top of joists, other areas okay but not upgraded to the best possible standards. Adelphia offered a very good price on correcting problems and upgrading the insulation. The pros and cons of the insulation work were thoroughly discussed so that I could make an informed decision so I agreed to upgrade my insulation & have existing insulation issues resolved. In mid-October, workers came out to do the work. They showed up on time, kept the area clean, tarped the stairs and floor so that no insulation would be tracked in house (much appreciated). When they were done, I asked where the rulers in the attic spaces were located and they had forgotten to put them in. They apologized and rulers showing amount of insulation were put in. Due to mis-communication by both me and the worker, one side of the attic bedroom space was not insulated. After they left, I realized that I may have misunderstood the question about what area was to be insulated and given the wrong response. I called Adelphia and explained the problem, which was particularly critical since that was the side of the house where the killer icicles would form. They said that they would be out to put insulation on that side and would make sure that the small section of attic that had plywood on it (to provide attic storage area, which we never use) would be insulated over & under. When the crew came out to do the work at the end of October, they were not prepared to deal with the area that had the plywood as it was not on their work order. I called Adelphia and explained the problem. They apologized and a new date was scheduled. The owner himself came out with the crew to ensure that the work was done (ultimately plywood removed since we didn't need it & easier to insulation without it). The work was finished in mid-November. Since having Adelphia out, the attic bedroom has been noticeably warmer with more consistent, less variable temperatures (guests have been pleased). Also, since the big snow (we got 21 inches) a couple of weeks ago -- no killer icicles!!! Problem finally resolved. House stayed warm. I am so glad to have the proper insulation. Adelphia was pleasant to deal with, had very good prices, and the workers were prompt and professional. Communication issues existed but everything was resolved quickly, politely, professionally. I was given a discount for the problems. Despite the delay, I am very happy with the work and very glad to have upgraded my insulation. I would recommend Adelphia and am glad to have worked with a local family-owned business.

Great! Very happy with this job although the extreme cold weather hasn't arrived yet so the true test is yet to happen. Added extra insulation to my home, placed ventilated boxes above 12 recessed lights to stop heat going up through the lights. Added expansion foam in areas where air seepage was occurring from my first and second floors to my attic. I feel it has made a difference in the warmth of my home. Last year my house last year was very cold. This year it has been very comfortable. This has been one of my best experiences with companies via Angie's List. This is a family owned company. The Koutsis family is wonderful to work with. One other estimate I received to do the same work was over $7,000. It was a blessing to find this company on Angie's List. They were professional and on time. The solution they proposed was exactly what I was hoping for. Our floor is no longer freezing in the winter. It was a great experience. I'd use them again!

Hired Adelphia to put in insulation around my finished attic upstairs. They also paint, so we added paint for the same rooms. Schedule was important to me, as I had other projects stacked up behind this one and fixed move-in date to get everything finished. Insulation crew showed up at agreed-upon time for insulation. They took one look at the situation and said they would not attempt to get in the small spaces needed (if it were easy, I would have done it myself). When I contacted the front office, I was told that the crew had the wrong materials on the truck and had to return. They returned much later, can't remember now, but it was over a week delay. The original schedule was a bit of a delay for me in the first place, but I was ok with it. Now it was delayed some more. The project I agreed to was to add fiberglass to kneewalls and the small remaining attic above the finished out rooms, as well as to insulate the access doors, which were vertical in the kneewalls. Insulation was not put on the doors, prompting me to call them back out for the 3rd time to correct this. Quality was acceptable, but certainly not worth the price, the trouble and the extra attention necessary to get all the work done. The paint job was average. When the deal was sold to us by the sales rep, I specifically pointed out some damaged areas where old wallpaper was peeling and latex had been put over enamel paint, with some problems resulting. I was assured that this would be taken care of by the highly professional painters. When the painter arrived, we had a series of debates about this aspect of the work. The painter became convinced that I wanted him to peel all the old wallpaper up, which he felt was not in the price. I felt that he should do more than simply paint over the problem areas, as they would be very vulnerable to bubbling and peeling. I was told this was the best you could expect for the scenario, which was very different than assurances I got from the sales rep. I'm not unhappy with the result, but I am unhappy with the experience. The situation with the insulation installers felt wrong, like I had gotten into some kind of internal company dispute. But the result was that the work was delayed. With regard to the relatively simple paint job, I felt as though I was in a feud with the entire family, from the person answering the phone to the painter to the sales rep. They seemed almost offended and were quite concerned with backing each other up, which is commendable in a family, I suppose. There seemed to be a distinct lack of empathy with the customer, however. It was a pretty unpleasant time for me, as I don't really enjoy the conflict I had to go through to get what I paid for. You know, I'm even willing to concede that the painter was right, which he was. You see, I wasn't attempting to convince him to peel off all the 50 year old wallpaper, but to help me preserve the paint job he was delivering, to some reasonable degree. Somehow I became an opponent, however, and then communications became so difficult. I'll look for a more professional firm next time, maybe one that isn't family-owned and operated.

Very prompt service and they provided an estimate and honored the price. The quality of insulation that they brought in was good and the labor was breeze, they did clean up the area after their work.

After Adelphia came, I decided I needed to get another estimate and was blown away by Capital Insulation (considerably more professional and actually less expensive for the same amount of work, though I had him do more).

I had called about a roof leak and replacing attic insulation. George K showed up as scheduled. He explained that they only do full roof replacement. Although the prices were reasonable, I opted to just have the roof repaired elsewhere. I honestly don't know much about attic insulation, but I thought I needed it replaced. George was very knowledgeable and explained the type I had and that it was fine, but not very deep. I explained that the house is fairly cool still in winter so we decided to add an additional 6 inches in my townhome attic. I wasn't in a rush since it wasn't super cold out yet, but I was able to schedule within 2 weeks from his visit. They showed up on time and were out in about 2 hours. The 2 workers were super: they totally covered everything in plastic and wore those booties over their shoes while in the house. They totally cleaned up after themselves. They explained everything as they went along and had me go up after it was complete to see the final result: lots of pink fluff and new baffles! Family owned, honest, and reasonable prices. I would recommend for roofing and insulation!

We were not satisfied at all

I purchased the "$49 for an Attic Inspection, Insulation and Ventilation Analysis and a $500 Credit". Scheduling and communication was easy and George Koutsis arrived on schedule and performed the inspection with me, advising that the main attic was well insulated and the other needed some more insulation (which I knew). I appreciated the honesty and lack of any attempt to upsell. George provided a quote for what appeared to be a fair price. I purchased their "$149 for $500 Worth of Blown-In Environmentally Safe Attic Insulation" offer and scheduled the work with Viki. Communication and scheduling was easy, however just prior to the work, Viki advised that the two $500 discounts could not be used for the same work (which is reasonable). George arrived after letting me know he was running a little late but was not prepared to do the work due to a confusion about what was scheduled. We briefly discussed the deals, then rescheduled. At the (re)scheduled time and following a welcome advanced notice call, Travis and crew arrived and promptly and cleanly took care of the work: blowing insulation, fitting bats and rulers to an attic with a very small and inconvenient door in a small room on the second floor. A quick visual inspection showed a nice even covering of blown insulation and bats fitted around the attic.

All I got to say is... "I'm definitely planning on using Adelphia Exterior again".

The owner took a lot of time to look over the project and explain what would be done. He answered all my questions and was very thorough. The workers were very neat and professional. I am certain that my home will be much warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

We have never been more impressed by a home repair company. They were prompt, honest, fair, friendly and very reasonably priced. They did fantastic work and completed the job in one afternoon. We will absolutely use them for all home remodeling/repair jobs in the future. No more shipping around needed for us! Absolutely recommend to everyone.

We purchased a deal for $500 of blown insulation for $149. We were not aware that Adelphia will not just blow in $500 of insulation. They will only do a full attic insulation with a minimum of 6 inches of insulation. When your attic is over 1,200 square feet this turns the $149 deal into a lot larger price. The deal was clearly a "bait and switch". Now I must work with Angie's list to try to get the $149 back.

They were wonderful. It was a very extensive job. They did a wonderful job and were very clean. They left no trace of insulation and made sure they cleaned everything up. The hatch that they had to use broke and the owner came out the next day and fixed it for me at no charge.

These guys did a great job on my attic insulation and I would recommend them to others in the future. I have noticed a huge difference in my heating and cooling of my house.

The estimator seemed to be in a hurry to leave, and I had to pin him down to talk about what he proposed to do about keeping moisture from entering the living space of my home and about what should be done to address moisture that was seeping through the cinderblock walls after heavy rains. When I insisted that he discuss those things so that he could consider them in his proposal, he had good ideas for dealing with them and said he would check into them. However, his proposal provided a very sparse description of work, it reflected no attempt to address the problems he said he would address, and his price was outlandish. Out of the five proposals I received, this one wasn't even close in quality or competiveness compared to the others.
