The glass in our aluminum framed sliding glass doors had become cloudy with moisture and mildew between the panes of glass. I got one estimate to replace the entire sliding door units for approx. $1,500 each (or a total of $4.500). Ouch! Granted, you can purchase these units for $300-500 each from a home improvement center and install them yourself, but that was not an option for us.
So, I called Binswanger. It was great! They came out, measured and gave us a price of $1400 to replace 5 panels (they had replaced 1 of the panels several years ago, hence we only needed 5). We felt the price was good. The installed returned on the scheduled day, removed the old glass, installed the new, cleaned up and took away the old glass in a matter of just a few hours. The job was done professionally; you would never know that it wasn't the original glass.
We're very pleased with the overall job and would never hesitate to call them again for any repair or replacement job. They know their stuff!
2. Husband attempted to take frame in, but broken glass was getting spread so he requested store come out and give estimate.
3. Estimate was over $300 just to replace the glass in the door. It was as cheap to order a custom door through another vendor, but because the lawn maintenance was paying for the glass, we told that company to pay for it directly to the company and they do the legwork and payment.
4. Binswanger kept telling my husband that they were waiting on the glass to come in and they would call to schedule. We went through this for 3 weeks. My husband told the lawn maintenance company about the issue and they called Binswanger again.
5. Binswanger showed up and replaced the glass in the door without calling to schedule, without calling to tell us they would be on their way, without them doing the courteous thing of knocking on our door and telling us they were going to install the glass. I didn't know someone was at the door and I thought someone was trying to break in. My car was parked in front of our townhouse in the designated space so they could have assumed someone could have been home.
6. The glass was not cleaned by them after they installed it. Dirt and grease was on the storm glass they installed. Additionally, they left a white mark on our dark brown front door.
We found their services too costly for what it was and total lack of customer service. We will not contact them for service or products again.
