A very bad experience. My friend who recommended My Plumber to me has since gone through a similar situation and has canceled her service plan too.

On Saturday 12/18/10 My Plumber came to my mother's house and snaked the sewer line from the toilet in her basement to the street. The technician determined that there was a blockage near the house foundation wall. He snaked the sewer line and opened it enough to allow my mother to use her toilet and shower on a limited basis until My Plumber could come back with a camera snake to determine exactly what was causing the problem in the sewer line. On 12/21/10 Joe Kielar from My Plumber came to my mother's house and used his camera snake to determine that there was a collapsed sewer line at the house foundation wall. Also, the sewer line from the toilet in the basement bathroom to the house foundation wall was pitched incorrectly. Joe appeared to be knowledgeable and explained what needed to be done to fix the problem. On 12/22/10 Robert Carter from My Plumber came with 2 helpers and began working to replace the sewer pipe from the toilet in the basement to the front yard. Both my mother and I questioned Robert Carter about the Fairfax County plumbing permit that was required and was included ($200 fee) in the written pricing quote. Robert assured us that since he was a master plumber and this was an emergency sewer line repair he could do the work and just send pictures of his work over to Fairfax County for approval to satisfy Fairfax County's plumbing inspection requirements. We believed what Robert said and the work was completed on 12/23/10 with the exception of reinstalling the toilet in the bathroom. In January 2011 my mother had her linoleum tile replaced in the bathroom, the carpeting cleaned, and reinstalled in the family room in the basement. On 2/10/11, Robert Carter came back and reinstalled my mother's toilet in the bathroom. Once the toilet was installed, it was obvious that Robert and his crew had made a mistake. The toilet tank is approx 8 1/2" from the wall with the water shut off valve. This is well beyond the normal standard toilet tank distance which is approximately 2" or less from the wall with the water shut off valve. After repeated calls to My Plumber, Robert Carter return to my mother's house in late February and said that it would cost an additional $2,340 to fix the problem and bring the toilet up to Fairfax County and Virginia plumbing code. Since my mom had spent so much money with My Plumber, they offered her a ?deal? and reduced the cost of the repair to an additional $1,900. On this visit, Robert admitted to my mother that the following errors may have occurred: 1) he may have installed the toilet flange incorrectly 2) his two helpers had done the pipe measurements and pipe fittings for the toilet and the sewer lines in the bathroom and they may have measured the piping incorrectly and did not follow the Fairfax County and the State of Virginia plumbing code. Also, Robert admitted to my mother that he did not check the pipe measurements and pipe fittings done by his 2 helpers in the bathroom. After doing some research, we determined that Robert Carter did not tell the truth and a Fairfax County permit was needed for this type of plumbing work and a Fairfax County plumbing inspector needed to inspect Robert Carter's work before closing in the new sewer line and toilet piping in concrete. My Plumber also never got a Fairfax County permit to do this work and they charged my mother $200 for this permit. After repeated calls to My Plumber, they are unwilling to fix their error which has caused the toilet tank to be 8 1/2" from the wall with the water shut off valve. My Plumber insists on trying to charge my mother an additional $1,900 to fix their mistake. My mother should not have to pay My Plumber any additional money to fix their mistake. My Plumber is a dishonest and unethical company that all consumers need to be aware of and avoid using.

When you call in, you get a friendly, helpful person. They will tell you that there is a fee for the estimate and that the estimate will be for the complete job. If you use them, that fee is waived. I needed two different repairs this time, and the two technicians came the same day, which was the next day. They did the work well and left my home very clean. They wear paper booties in the house. I do think their prices are a little high, but we used one plumber who was a one man shop for about 30 years, and it has been difficult to get a company that is always available and will come right out. My Plumber does that. In the past they have installed our new furnace, hot water heater, home humidifier and moved a gas line to my kitchen. And lots more routine plumbing stuff.

They are very good. We would recommend them highly. They explained everything they were doing and why they were doing it as they were doing it. They were very honest about everything they would say. They would say that I could do certain things, but that I don’t really need to spend the money to do that. We felt that they were very honest.

They did a good job for me, are polite, on time and courteous and I was pleased with the service. They also cleaned up well after.

They were recommended to me years ago for plumbing work. That was a positive interaction. The guy was competent and put the sump quickly. Basically I was pleased with them. Now it all depends on how long it lasts. I do not know much about the price they charged me as I did not compare them with anybody.

Chuck Smith, the plumber that I primarily deal with, is great. I've been using this company for at least 5 years. However, they are expensive. There are no extra trip charges for weekends or holidays. Overall, I'm happy with their services and I've already recommend them to others.

It went well. I have used them many times, and I would highly recommend them.

Do not go by thier over the phone quote. It cost me much more than I expected and I was charged for the entire time when I told the plumber not to put on the on/off knobs. Becuase I wanted to put a new piece of drywall in and did not want to have to cut large holes in the drywall. He put the knobs on and had to take them back off and I was charged for the time it took him to do this.

I was disappointed because they didn't tell me that they would also have to do a diagnostic test which added to the price. The technician was great and did a very nice job. He was very nice, and I know it was the companies policy, not his. He did a good job clearing the drain and I feel the problem was completely resolved.

I called My Plumber because I had used them several years before to address a plumbing issue. They were able to come out very promptly. The plumber assigned was very professional and competent. He took the time to explain the various options I had, including the best and worst case scenarios that might occur. I though he gave a balanced view with enough information to make a decision. While he was there he did note a few other issues that I might want to get taken care of in the future (e.g., the lack of a drainage pan for my hot water heaters), he was not high pressure and I never got a sense that he was trying to "sell" me services I didn't need. I also really appreciated the 'fixed price' system My Plumber has where each type of job is listed in a master book, with a set charge assigned to it -- this way there is absolutely no surprise when it comes time to pay. I also liked that the plumber had a truck filled with supplies, so there was no extra time lost going out to get the parts needed for the job. The plumber took a couple of hours to work and did a fantastic job. For one of the toilets that only had a very small amount of available pipe on it, he noted that he couldn't replace the original escutcheon, so told me what kind I could get at Home Depot that would fit (which I later did with no problem). I would definitely use My Plumber again. In fact, I discussed with the plumber the maintenance contract service that they have (similar to a lot of heating and cooling companies), where they inspect your furnace/air conditioner seasonally and do preventive maintenance, annual tune-ups, etc. I had been exploring these for some time with a few other companies. The plumber told me that My Plumber also offers this service, but in addition includes inspection of basic plumbing -- all for a price that is comparable or lower to several of the other companies I had been looking at. I decided later that I would sign up for this service (which I think was $240/yr).

The work was OK, but the cost was outrageous. Unfortunately, we were in a bind and needed the work done right away so had to go ahead with it.

They are very good. The master technician was very knowledgeable with his trade. They were a little high on price.

Plumber was on-time and spent some time diagnosing the issue. Gave me several option (pretty expensive and expensive) and quoted the pricing structure -- while I felt their prices were on the high side, I didn't feel that there were any surprises or hidden fees, etc. Plumber opened up the wall and discovered the overflow seal was bad -- after some discussion he offered a "3rd option" which was to replace the seal (approx 300.00 total). Very professional, talked through the process along the way. Felt he did a very good job -- considering same day service (I called in the morning, was there by noon) -- maybe pricing wasn't too bad (there is a price of convenience!).

My Plumber wanted to charge $79.95 to have a sales rep come to my home to provide an estimate for a new heat pump. They will credit this cost against the sale only if the customer then accepts their quote and has the work done by them. Other HVAC companies in this area do not charge for a sales visit. I chose to use another company.

I have been very satisfied with them.

We called Friday afternoon to schedule a plumber to come the next day to replace two toilets and replace shut-off valves. They could not give us a specific time that they would arrive the next day, but said we would receive a call an hour before arrival. We did receive a call from them mid morning the next day, and they were made it to the home in less than an hour after call. After quoting me a price for the two toilets with installation, the work took a couple hours. He radioed ahead to have one more toilet delivered to the house from the warehouse, but got to work right away with the toilet he had on truck. The plumber wore protective socks over his shoes once he entered home to keep floors clean. He was very efficient and up front about costs, and caulked around the toilets when complete. He left the area spotless. I have used this plumbing company exclusively for a few years, as they always do great work. They may charge a bit more, but I never have to call them back to "fix" their work.

They are outstanding and we have been using them for about 5 years. We highly recommend them.

Very honest, courteous and overall good value. Price was a little bit steep - $388 to snake a drain. But - $388 included the cost to snake and the fiber-optic videocam follow-up to verify that the line was open. At every step in the process, I knew what my costs were. I was quoted a $79 service/diagnostic fee - that was the most I had to pay for their guy to show up, and diagnose the problem. If I chose to repair it myself - $79 was my max. If I chose to have their guy repair the problem, the $79 was waived and the price I was quoted for the work (in my case $388) became my new total cost. Very happy with them and would use them again. They are a bit more expensive that others I've used in the past - but - you get what you pay for. You'll pay a bit more for these guys, but the quality and guanrantee you'll get are worth it if you can spare the cash.

They are a little on the more expensive side, but they?re worth it. They are responsive and come right out.

They've always been good. They are very clean and professional. I will definitely continue to use them.

I called them up from the information I found on their ad and in the yellow pages. They have a 24-hour service and they responded very quickly but the quote that they gave me was ridiculous. The technician had maximized everything - I think it was about $2200. I did have to pay a fee because they came out but that?s all I paid them. I didn?t go with them to get the job done. I won?t use them in the future. The company that actually did the work for me got it done for a little over $800.
