I called several companies and the first call back I received was from A-1. Some companies did not bother to call me back at all. The gentleman knew exactly what I needed to have done and scheduled to have a representative come out to my house to provide an estimate within the current week. The representative explained the process to me clearly and concisely. I was given a written estimate and was offered to schedule the work at that time or to call the office to schedule. This was NOT a high-pressure sales experience at all. When I called to schedule, I was able to have the work done the following week. The same gentleman who gave me the written estimate performed the work with an assistant. I left the two men working. I was told that a bill would be left, not to pay in advance and to pay only after inspecting the work and being fully satisfied. I was fully satisfied. I highly recommend A-1 Concrete Leveling.

I had originally entertained spending a few thousand dollars to tear out our concrete walkway and replace with brick, until I saw an ad in Angie's List (June 2011) publication for A-1 Concrete Leveling & Foundation Repair. Contacted A-1for an estimate, and an appointment was set up within days. Met with representative on Monday and work was performed on Thursday. Entire operation from start to finish was extremely professional. A-1 needed access to outside water faucet to perform work. Site was completely cleaned up upon completion. Total time was appoximately 3 hours. Was able to use walkway as soon as A-1 was finished, only needed 24 hours for caulk to set.

I requested estimate via their website that allowed uploading photos for a more accurate estimate. They replied very quickly and were able to come out 5 days later. It looks much better than before and we're very happy with the job. Not only were they the fastest to respond, they also had the lowest estimate by a few dollars.

Overall experience was excellent. I will use their service in the future. I think it is important to know that when I called, they gave me an immediate callback. They were very responsive, getting to my house quickly to give an estimate. They were very prompt about providing that estimate to me right away. They showed up on time. They worked hard and respectful.

Mark from A-1 came out to the house to survey the problems, make recommendations, and provide an initial estimate. He was punctual, responsive, extremely pleasant and professional, and clearly knows his business. His estimate was written on the basis of 3 tons of concrete being needed for the entire job, but he made clear that there would be no way to know the exact amount of material that would be needed until the pumping was done. This is reasonable because no excavation takes place, so the estimate is based on trying to determine the size of the voids using an iron measuring rod inserted into openings along the problem areas and listening for hollow sounds when tapping on the concrete. The work was scheduled and A-1's crew showed up on time and ready to work. The two technicians were pleasant, professional and knew what they were doing. They went right to work, utilizing almost the entire truck load of concrete on the basement walk out. This was not unexpected by me because of the amount of erosion and settlement that I had seen occurring around the walkout. When they ran out of material, they prepped the remainder of the unfinished work and scheduled a return to complete the services. They returned on time on the agreed upon date and completed the work showing the same standards of professionalism and courtesy that they had the prior day. All areas were cleaned up properly after each day of work. Throughout the process, the technicians kept me informed of the state of the work and of the amount of material being used in the repairs. The elevation of my walkway is now restored to its original height, making use of my front steps safer and I am confident that the concrete injected under my stoop and my walkout will stabilize them and extend their lives considerably. A-1 also cheerfully honored the Angie's List 10 percent discount offer published on the web and in their ad in the Angie's List magazine. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to recommend A-1 to anybody needing concrete leveling or repair or utilize them again my self should the need arise. A-1 no-showed for their first appointment. Apologized. OK. They did work as advertised. They seriously underestimated size of cavity under stoop, so I think I got a deal. The injection under sidewalk actually raised it 5 inches and they neatly patched the small crack remaining. Not real happy with the dry-pack concrete they used on the sides of the stoop. This area will not remain dry in my case, so I will probably have to seal off with concrete blocks. I am happy, though.

I contacted them through their website. Their contact form allows you to describe the problem and attach photographs, which I did. I received a response and estimate the same day. A-1 called to follow up with me a couple of days later to see if I had any questions. They came the next day while I was at work and fixed the walkway. All that was required of me was some minor caulking and the addition of topsoil/grass seed along the edges of the walkway that were exposed when the walkway was raised. They did a great job without any damage to the walkway.

They provided prompt and free estimate. They were able to do it while we were at work so we didn't have to take time off (big plus!) Walkway and step look great.. They even filled the gap between the step and foundation which another company we looked into would not do. They also provide a two-year warranty (better than the other competitors). This was the same company that raised sections of the sidewalks in our subdivision about a year ago - and those sections still look good.

I am still waiting for a return call.

Mark, Robert and his crew leveled off our front walkway and filled a major void under our front stoop that has developed over the last 30 years. The rainwater from our entire neighborhood seemed to pool up in front of our house every rainy day. The workers arrived when they said that they would and finished quickly. They cleaned up the entire area when finished and did an excellent job with the walkway repair. They addressed our concerns midway through the job and assured us that we would be happy with the final outcome. We are more than happy. They did more than was written in the proposal as it needed extra filler and additional holes drilled to add the filler and they kept the price as quoted. I cannot wait until it rains again to watch the water wash away rather than pool in front of our house. I have recommended A1 to our neighbors and the community association and could not be happier with them.

Overall the job went well other than the large couple of cracks left on the edge of one walkway squares the work was extremely good.

Amazing - they drilled into the slabs and injected the concrete mix that raised them up to the correct level. They cleaned up the area and even put a small patch on a corner of one slab that needed additional attention. Our walkway is level for the 1st time ever and we were able to walk on it right away. It looks great and the whole process was like magic. They also warranty their work and it is transferable if you sell your home. They were very professional from start to finish. I'd recommend them without hesitation.

I hired A-1 Concrete Leveling on the recommendations found here at Angie?s List. It was a real smart move on my part. I hired them to raise a sunken stoop leading up to my door. They arrived as scheduled and proceeded to do a bang up job. They encountered a problem at one point, and my heart sank; but no worries, they fixed me up just dandy. Robert Studebaker and Glenn Blackwell know their business and I would not hesitate for the slightest second to hire them again. Thanks guys.

Overall, I would use A-1 again, not because the job was done correctly in the first place, but because when I called to tell Mark that they had not completely filled the voids under the walkway and a small portion of the driveway, he came out, was honest in confirming that things were not done properly, and had his crew return the next day to fill the voids and more. Mark is very professional and handled the situation very well. In the end, I was a very satisfied customer. Moreover, I'm glad I went with the mud jacking, as it was much less expensive than new concrete and the small circles of patching concrete that result from the mud jacking are barely noticeable.

Called for an estimate and the owner, Mark Howley, happened to be nearby and came over within 20 min. He provided an estimate and described the leveling process. When the work was scheduled the 2 man crew arrived on time, were courteous and professional, and did a thorough job. They took their time ( 6 hrs.) and did it right. The clean up was also excellent. I can highly recommend A-1 Concrete Leveling.

This is an amazing service. I was quoted $6000.00 to have our front porch stoop replaced with no other work included that was needed (as mentioned above). Our stoop had sunk because it was 45 years old and water pipe replacement near the stoop caused the land to sink on one side. So the stoop sank even more with it. They drilled only 4 wholes into the stoop and were able to raise it up almost 3-4 inches on the lowest side. It's very level now. We were able to walk on it immediately. I would say you have to watch them do the work and you need to encourage them to ensure the final product is as you want it. I asked them to reposition the stoop and walkway a few times even after they were finished, as I am a perfectionist. They didn't mind that I frequently checked on their progress. They were very amiable and did as I asked without complaint. You also need to encourage them to fill in all the cracks near the house after the stoops are lifted, since they have the supplies, or they may only do some of the crack filling. They were conscientious workers. They cleaned up completely and did not damage our landscaping. The crew seemed very knowledgeable about their work. This service is a fabulous alternative to concrete replacement.

I emailed Mark when I learned that I needed to level my sidewalk as a condition of selling my home. He got back to me very quickly for my address and came the next week to give me an estimate. He was prepared to do the job by the end of that week, but I had another contractor working outside and had to ask them to come the following week, which they did. The team from A-1 arrived about 8 am as promised on an extremely hot day. They went to work immediately and the job was completed in under three hours. They were hard working, prompt, courteous, and did an excellent job with my sidewalk which needed leveling to reduce a tripping hazard in two areas as a result of settling. The price seemed high to me, but I did not have anything to compare it to (such as a new sidewalk); no other leveling places looked reliable to me at the time. Bottom line is that you get what you pay for and they did excellent work in a timely manner!

Mark came out the very same day we called for an estimate. Examined the situation and gave us an estimate which was less expensive than having the driveway dug up and replaced. The driveway had sunk about 3 inches in front of the garage which made for a bit of difficulty entering the garage also causing some deterioration of the slab edge. The work was done less than a week later - right on time and professionally executed by Robert and his helper. It's amazing to see how this procedure can lift a big slab of concrete back to its' original position. We are very happy with the whole experience we had with A-l Concrete Leveling

Based on the Angie's list recommendations, I contacted Mark Howley by phone and email. It took a couple of calls for us to get hooked up to arrange an estimate, but we finally did. He provided a fair estimate, and we agreed to have him do the work. His crew was right on time, and worked really hard to get the job done despite encountering some unforeseen challenges. I was very pleased with the politeness and professionalism of the foreman and the quality of the work seems top notch.

Very responsive and prompt response to our inquiry call and was out in a timely manner to give us an estimate for the work to be done. Mark was very upfront with what could and could not be accomplished with mud jacking vs. complete replacement. His evaluation and estimates were thorough and he gave us a detailed explanation of the mud jacking process, etc. Initially there were some delays in completing the job due to equipment delays and bad winter weather delays (cannot inject the material in freezing temps); however, Mark and his team were extremely professional, apologetic and polite in dealing with the situation. All work was completed to our satisfaction (VERY satisfied) and quality was good as well. He did an excellent job with clean-up at the end of each work day and was very responsive, prompt and courteous in regard to calls, questions, etc.

We used A-1 Concrete Leveling to raise our front stoop and were completely satisfied with their service. Our start date was delayed due to a long stretch of inclement weather but Mark kept in touch with us throughout the delay and we were serviced promptly when weather conditions allowed.
