The manager, Tony, at this location in Arlington, is a real gentleman, as well as being a craftsman. What happened was this: my elderly father had had an accident the year before which required that his windshield be replaced. I had used the phone book to find a jobber who would come out to his retirement community and replace the glass out in the parking lot. Then he decided to go ahead and give up driving, so I have his car. In May, the rear view mirror just let go from the windshield -- one day I came out of the house and it was hanging there by the electric wires that power the compass. I called the glass people back and was told that they had never done business with us. They continued to insist that, despite my driving down from 7 Corners to an industrial park in Springfield to bring them my original credit card statement showing the charges that had been processed under their company name. They told me that they had merely processed the credit card charges for an independent contractor and had no obligation to me. I went into SAFELITE in Arlington expecting to have to pay for a new windshield, and then turn around and file a small claims case against the first company for the cost of the repairs. (A lot of experiences are just "hard lessons learned," but the people were so unpleasant at the office in Springfield that it would have been worth the aggravation to follow it through -- I've won in Small Claims Court before, but it’s work and you have to be well-prepared.) Tony looked the problem over and said: "I think I can fix this. If you'll let me give it a try, it could save you the trouble." He never once bad-mouthed the other business, he just listened and shook his head and said, "Let me see what I can do." In about 15 minutes, my windshield was as good as new -- and he wouldn't take a penny for it! The shop has been there on Washington Boulevard since I was back in high school (Go W-L '67!) -- and years back, they had fixed a stone chip for us and made it disappear. I should have come straight back to them with my Dad's car. It may look like a little hole-in-the-wall place, but don't be fooled -- they're a real class act!

My insurance company made contact with Saflite. Replacement was done at my home within two days. Technician arrived as scheduled, actually 20 minutes early. Job was completed in less than one hour. Very professional! No negatives!

I made an appointment for two days later at the service center about 1/4 from my residence. They took the car on time and finshed in less than an hour. They informed me up front that there would still be a hole, that the only way to make it not noticeable was to replace the entire windshield. While the hole is much smaller, I was expecting it to be even smaller than it is. There was no cost - as it turns out my insurance company (Geico) has an arrangement with them where they pay a set fee to them for repairing the windshield.

I called a couple different companies, pricing for all was comparable. Safelite was able to get me in ASAP. They give me the opportunity to have them come to me to replace the windshield (at no additional cost), but it was easier for me to just bring my vehicle in to their shop. The procedure took a bit less than 90 minutes. They had a small waiting area, which was nothing fancy but was clean and had comfy chairs, coffee, etc. Bathroom there was also clean, which was VERY nice. The manager and tech (Charles and Darrell) were both incredibly friendly and professional. When the windshield had been replaced, they cleaned the inside of all my windows and then vacuumed the entire inside of my car. I had several decals on my windshield and they were able to remove all of them in once piece, which was quite impressive considering these decals pretty much fall apart if you just look at them. The decals stayed on my car for only another week, but I am quite confident that they would have stayed permanently if it had not been 20 degrees and snowing that week. This was really a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this Safelite location!!!

Installer was on time, efficiently installed windshield and gave us follow-up instructions e.g. what to do while the adhesive dried, when we could drive our car, and when to remove the tape. Work was perfect, no problems.
