It went fine, until we discovered a pool of water around the AC unit in the basement a couple of days after they installed it. They were very responsive when we called it in, and didn't try to charge us for the fix. (Best we can determine, what happened was that the installation crew of the new unit punched a hole in the condensate line when they installed the new unit).
Description of Work: They replaced the bulk of the air conditioning unit they installed 20 years ago.

They told us that we needed to completely replace the unit. Another company found that there was a very simple and cheap fix that took care of the problem.

This customer called us because of a no heat situation. We sent our field supervisor who is well known in the industry for his technical expertise and has over 20 years experience. He performed a thorough check of their heating system and found several issues. The furnace had a bad circuit board and the ignitor needed to be replaced. The furnace was also located in a position such that the blower could not be serviced because there was no access to the blower compartment We did not recommend a repair since the equipment was 15 years old. However, the customer was given prices to repair and replace. The replacement cost included moving the furnace so that it could be serviced in the future. Arlington Heating prides itself on quality service and providing expert advice to our clients. We were trying to look out for the best interest of this customer by giving options to repair or replace. We did not tell this customer they had to replace the system, we gave them two options and advised replacement.

Our experiences have been good and we continue to use them. They take care of the job no matter what it is. They're prompt, particularly in the summer if your A/C breaks.
Description of Work: We've used Arlington Heating & Air for a number of years and they're outstanding. They've done annual check ups on our system, a couple of years ago we had to get the A/C repaired, and most recently they replaced some parts on an air purifier/cleaner.

It didn't "go" at all since it took 6 weeks to even get an estimate from them.
Description of Work: We asked this company for an estimate for a new AC system. The first estimator had to cancel for personal reasons; they sent a second on the 3rd work day after our call. The estimator took the dimensions of the space and took my email and said he would email me estimates the next day. I waited 2 days without getting anything and then called the company. The receptionist said she would give the estimator the message. I didn't get anything the next day either, so I called again and left the same message. We were then out of town for 10 days. When I still hadn't received any estimate by the time we returned, I called again and was told that the estimator would be given the message. When I still didn't receive any response, I asked to leave a message for the manager the next time. He called back in about 2 days and asked for information about when the estimator had come out and what our address was. Another week elapsed before he left a message asking for my email address (which I had given to the estimator 4 weeks earlier). I called the office to give them my email address, and called twice more when I still got no response (it turns out the manager had written down my email address incorrectly). Almost 6 weeks after the estimator first visited, I finally got an estimate, which was about 15% more than we had paid to have the work done by another company, since we got tired of waiting. We've used this company for over 10 years and have always been basically satisfied with their services, but if this experience is any indication, they've become seriously dysfunctional. We won't be using them again.

We have used this company for over 15 years, and recently had them install an electric water heater. They did a clean professional job on the install. The technicians were well trained and friendly.

Everything went perfectly. The two installers arrived on time, put down tarps to protect our floors, and went to work. Another man came to haul away the old water heater. All the people I dealt with from the front office to the installers, were polite, attentive and efficient. I'm so glad that I decided to go with this firm, even though they were much more expensive than, for example, Sears. I guess we as consumers need to be willing to pay a bit more to get the good products and services we seek.

I had shopped around for pricing. Although this company had a slightly higher price, they had such a good reputation with Angie's List that I thought I would give them a try. They did an excellent job and the installation went smoothly. The unit works great.

WE WERE CALLED OUT TO THIS HOUSE TO GIVE A SECOND OPINION. WHEN THIS SERVICE CALL WAS BOOKED, WE COULD NOT TELL FROM THE ADDRESS WHAT KIND OF SYSTEM WAS THERE. WHEN WE ARRIVED, THE CUSTOMER WAS TOLD THAT WE DO NO WORK ON "THROUGH THE WALL" SYSTEMS. SHE STILL WANTED US TO TROUBLESHOOT THE SYSTEM SO WE TOOK THE TIME TO CHECK THE SYSTEM OVER, ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF. WE FOUND THAT THE COMPRESSOR WAS GROUNDED, BUT WITHOUT A WORKING SYSTEM, WE COULDN'T DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE COMPRESSOR TO STOP WORKING. IN SUMMARY, WE VERIFIED WHAT THE OTHER COMPANY HAD SAID WHICH WAS THAT THE COMPRESSOR WAS GROUNDED BUT WE COULD NOT DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE BECAUSE THE SYSTEM WAS NOT OPERABLE.

Excellent and professional service, as usual. We have been using this company for roughly 20 years. I did not expect to be accommodated on New Year's Eve, the day I called.
Description of Work: Our heating and air conditioning unit sprung a bad leak and had to be turned off. I called on New Year's Eve to set up an appointment to have it fixed. I was told that they would try to come that day, despite a heavy schedule. About 6pm I had a phone call to say a technician was on his way. He repaired the humidifier and cleaned out the drain line and flushed it clear. We had heat again.

They showed up almost immediately when we told them our system wasn't working. They diagnosed the problem and gave us the proposal for the new system. They came on time on the scheduled day for the installation and completed the job quickly and professionally. The system works well and is quite quiet. We have these people back twice a year for preventative and periodic maintenance. As a result we get very long life out of their systems.
Description of Work: The air conditioning system which they installed decades ago finally died. This company replaced the system with a very quiet, modern compressor and interior components.

They are the ones who remind me every time when they have to come and then we set a date and time. After that they always show up at the time we had agreed on and they do a good job. They are good at cleaning up afterward. I pay for the service once a year.

Arlington Heating & Air Conditioning Incorporated gives good quality work for a very reasonable fee. We pay them annually and this supplies us with discounted repair prices. They come when you call them and they don't try to get you to buy things that you don't really need.

They really went out of their way to find the part that was broken. They called in the morning and they came in the afternoon, so everything happened very fast. They service the units I have in other condos too, so they are familiar with my things.

I had gotten two other estimates and they were both for over $20,000 for a dual zone system with air handlers in the attic and the basement. John Gouldin did our estimate and was very thorough. He made a very detailed drawing of our house and where the ducts would go. The crew arrived promptly each morning. We'd had an ice storm the night before the first day and they were careful to cover the floors and carpet so they weren't tracking stuff in the house. The air handler went up in the attic and they installed the ductwork into the back of three closets. We think the quality of workmanship is superior and the crew was great. Several extra workers arrived one afternoon when they had finished at another site and they were able to finish our job a day early. Over-all, we were very pleased and recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Installed central air and ductwork into our home. Our 63 year old house has hot water heat and no ductwork.

I'll preface this by saying that I made the process much more complicated than any other hot water heater replacement I've done as a homeowner. Tommy did a good bit of research for us and in the end we opted to just go with a new gas, tanked, hot water heater. However, in the process of going back and forth on high efficiency models, etc., the fact that our existing hot water heater was electric was lost. The installation team showed up expecting to replace a gas hot water heater with another gas unit. Since this wasn't practical (given the lack of an existing outside vent) but they had already removed the electric heater, they quickly located a new electric hot water heater and installed it, after checking with me beforehand. They also lowered the cost dramatically, without my prompting, since the cost of installation was much less. I was disappointed with the mess-up but felt that much of the blame was mine.
Description of Work: The original goal was to replace a 15 year old electric hot water heater with a very high efficiency gas hot water heater, tank or tankless. We ended up simply replacing it with another electric hot water heater.

When we first moved to our house last fall it took me a few calls before I could even find anyone who would service a steam boiler. I feel fortunate to have found this company and they always send out their expert on boilers for my fall cleaning.
Description of Work: A technician comes out to service our 2 central air conditioners in the spring and our steam boiler in the fall. He cleans the filters, flushes the lines, checks the fans, motors and adds freon if necessary.

We think they charged us way too much. The unit was still under warranty and we don't think it should have been this much. We have been using them for 40 years and consider ourselves very good customers. We spoke to them about the price and the repair man said that he was going to have to "disable the system" if we didn't pay him right then and there. It was beyond belief. They took forever to get the parts to fix the job in the first place and we figured they would be willing to work with us because we are such long-time customers.

Have used them reliably for maintenance and annual checkups on heating and A/C. Only one bad experience -- attempted to charge $500+ for a digital thermostat + installation. They were not very competitive in price for a new A/C Unit either. Great for the 2x per year checkups. Do not buy the ''Attic Fan Checkup'' - as the ''checkup'' consisted of the tech listening and saying - ''Yes - it is running.''
