Just wanted sing a song of praise for Old Town Electrician. Can't say enough about their professional yet personal manner. Arrived on time and went about their business in a professional manner, but still took the time to answer any questions I had. Liked their service so well I would even recommend them to my mom, and you know how much we love mom. James L.C.

Electrician arrived promptly and performed the job quickly and efficiently.

They did a pretty good job. I thought that they knew what was going on. I think the remote ended up breaking up on the fan, but it wasn't their fault. There was something weird with the remote but then they came out and fixed it. So, their customer service is pretty good.

Went well. This was a recovery effort from a first call to Murphy Electric. the first tech didn't pay close attention and did not make sure the circuits were patent and I went w/o electricity in about four outlets in kitchen and dining room. No hard feelings. The second tech completed the work..

He was very friendly, professional, and solved the problem in no time. He explained what was wrong clearly and insulated the wires. We were so glad to have such prompt, excellent service! Be sure to buy the coupon on Angie's list before making the appt (we didn't, and would have saved $$ that way).

The Murphy Electric technician removed an existing outlet and stated that the cause of the problem was the way it was wired (punched instead of screwed wires) and then replaced the outlet. Three months later all power on that circuit went out; however, not because the circuit breaker tripped. We couldn't figure out the source of the problem so we hired another electric company to come out and take a look. They investigated and found out that the cause was the outlet that the Murphy Electric technician replaced. Apparently, the outlet wasn't installed correctly - the wires were too loose and were causing it to arc and melt the plastic parts of the outlet. Fortunately, this didn't cause any sort of fire; however, I was shocked to learn that an outlet installed by a professional had this sort of problem. Also, the new company we hired was able to determine that the reason that outlet got hot in the first place was because of an overloaded circuit. Needless to say we won't be asking Murphy Electric to help fix this problem.

He showed up on time. Installed the outlet, cleaned up. Then assessed my backdoor light which didnt work and suggested a work around that saved me hundreds of dollars. Very much appreciated his time and advice. Will definitely call for future electrical needs.

Technician arrived promptly and kept me updated via phone of progress and hurdles throughout the job. The front office was exceedingly considerate and double checked with the technician on the details of the job before final billing. Very upfront company, would hire them again easily.

Technician was helpful and patient in waiting while my wife went to Home Depot to get a different one as the fan I'd ordered online was the wrong size.

Had a dead outlet in the house and they could not fix it. They checked all the neighboring outlets, but could not figure out why this outlet would not work because they could not find a power source.. Did not cost me $99, wound up costing me $175. The only gave me a credit on the first hour. They did fix the outside lantern and it works perfectly fine now.

I feel that the company should put on their description page that if a job goes over 30 minutes that he cannot accept cash. They must use credit card. It will help those reviewing his page this important factor. I cannot imagine replacing two replacement sockets taking longer than 30 minutes. However, I guess anything can go wrong.

Electrican was professional and personable. He worked efficiently to get the work done, which I appreciated since the rate is based on the time they spend (plus materials). I used the Angie's List deal of $129 for $250 of service, which really only covers the electrician showing up and then first 30 minutes. I then paid another $151 for the additional time. So I paid $280 but apparently the overall value was $400. I don't think what I had done is worth $400 but I am ok with the $280 since I don't want to mess with electrical stuff.

The service coordinator, Sean, was a pleasure to deal with. He accommodated my time frame, patiently answered my questions, and scheduled Dennis to provide our service. Prior to his arrival, Dennis called with updates about his ETA. He was an extremely neat, efficient and capable electrician and I will surely use this company and Dennis for our future electrical needs -- especially if discount coupons are available through Angie's List and Groupon.

It was an excellent experience. They provided a cost estimate over the phone that was within our budget AND they actually charged us less when they arrived on site and realized things were not quite as bad as they had feared.

I received an email with a Docusign prior to work agreement on 03/19/2015. It stated the Big Deal only covered the first 30 minutes of labor and each quarter hour after that is $35 plus $30 for parts plus tax and travel costs. I found that to be too expensive and requested a refund for the Big Deal.

The contract he wanted me to sign, tips the leverage in the direction of the provider and shifts the risk of non performance of the provider.When a customer needs to have service from a provider, the customer has a specific need and has very little leverage anyway. This contract is not fair to the customer and he will not performt eh service if the contract is not signed.

The work went well-- the representative was knowledgeable and courteous. He checked all my outlets quickly then went to work on troubleshooting the non-functional ones. He let me know ahead of time that the voucher from Angie's list really only covered about 30 minutes of work and that additional time would cost $35/15min. When it was all said and done, there were $105 in additional costs, however, all of the work was done to standard and I felt very confident about the services I received.

The company did not service my area. Nonetheless they were very responsive.

The company contacted me promptly, and I was able to schedule the service at my convenience. The technician arrived on time and took care of the installation without any problems.

The entire online deal was misleading. The $99.00 fee was supposed to be for $200.00 of services but I was told it was for 1/2 hour @ $35.00 per 15 minutes. It cost me an excess of $245.00. I will not utilize this company again.

Dennis, the technician was on time and able to complete the requested work. Following his initial visit, he provided me a list of light fixtures needing replacement and gave direction on what exactly to get. After the fixtures arrived, he returned to install accordingly. Dennis was thorough in explaining what he did and made recommendations for further improvement and safety. Following his initial visit there was a discrepancy on the billing. Seth called me to collect the additional amount. At the time of his call I was driving on a 14 hour trek and not in a position to handle. I asked if I could call him the following day after I was settled and had the chance to compare my notes with what he noted as the correct amount owed. I called Seth back as promised and his tracking technology and my notes were aligned so I paid the difference as requested. No Problem. I really appreciated their flexibility, quality and professionalism and look forward to using their services moving forward.

For my area (Fairfax), the deal would cover travel charges only, then it would cost $35/quarter hour. They were very professional, although the person I spoke with hadn’t been there for long, so he wasn’t prepared to comment on how other companies do it or how their pricing corresponds with the market. The value couldn’t be demonstrated. Otherwise he was very professional, pleasant, and responsive. I would consider using them again if they had a more reasonable dispatch fee.

This was my second time using the company. The job was a bit more difficult than anticipated, but they did decent work. However, I found the overall cost to be much more than I had expected to pay, and I don't feel as though I received the best deal by going through Angie's List. It should be noted that the grade of "C" for price is more of a reflection on Angie's List rather than Murphy Family Electric. I'd suggest that the value and pricing of future deals be more clearly explained.

The two outlets were properly installed as expected, there was an additional charge that was notified and agreed before the work was done. My main problem is that they had to open a whole in the drywall to install one of the outlets, they didn't mention this and I found a big whole on the wall after the work was done, the electrician told us it was obvious they would not cover the repair of any wholes needed to complete the work (really?). At the end the company didn't cover the costs of fixing that hole so I had to add an additional $100 to cover the cost of fixing it. Won't be using them again.
