Erik was an incredibly skilled electrician and professional. I was concerned when he arrive without an assistant because the chandeliers were large and heavy but he handled it with no problem. He worked through lunch in order to finish by our dinner time. Fantastic service.

They did a very good job. They were very efficient and to the point.

.we are happy with the work but once the distance of this provider from our neighborhood and the cost of travel time is factored in, it is more ecponomical to use an electrician closer to home. He was professional and the work was done quickly and on time.

I called on a Tuesday to obtain a quote on 2 projects - the installation of 2 bathroom fans and recessed lighting. The gentleman I spoke with, while polite, said he needed to talk to his supervisor in order to generate a quote. He told me he'd call on Wednesday, the next day. I haven't heard back from them (it's now Friday). They don't appear to be a very responsive company, or one that keeps its word.

I had started to replace a pair of older style 3-way wall switches with new rocker style switches and found that one switch was not working. So I decided to have a professional finish the job. A member of the Murphy team arrived as scheduled. He proceeded to check out what was done, made an additional ground connection, wrapped the terminals with tape and check the lights with new bulbs. After determining that everything was working, he reseated the new switches, and added a new switch plate from his stock. All was done within the half-hour time slot allowed in the Angie's List coupon used. Very pleased with the outcome.

The fixtures were installed correctly. However, the electrician was a little slow and charged me for time he spent walking to get tools out of his van. He made two trips, which was over 10 min. When the billing is $35/ 15 min., I felt overcharged. However, he was on time and successfully completed changing a fixture, one of which was a ceiling fan. However, we used an excellent electrician (Infinite Electric, 301-602-7258) in January, and there was just no comparison. Infinite Electric was more professional, charged appropriately and worked really hard. I would rate Infinite Electric's service Excellent and Murphy's service Fair.

I felt like the electrician was very chatty and wasn't really working very hard while he was at my house. I mean, he got the job done but he was so conversational that I actually forgot one of the things I needed to have him do! He didn't try and work diligently the entire time, by any means. Professional tradesmen should understand that the rest us don't make $80-$100 per hour and therefore don't want to chitchat while they are working!

I had an electrical outlet that was not working, he came in and changed it for me. He updated it for me, now it has a green light in it so that if it is out I will know.He was very professional, on time, explained me everything and it was a good experience. I will use them again.

The electrician was very efficient and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem with the lawn lighting in about 5 minutes, and then installed the GFCI. He was on time and personable. Office staff was helpful in scheduling and follow-up. I would definitely use Murphy Family again.

They were very nice people but there was a slight misunderstanding with what the deal offered. I requested a refund through Angie’s List because of the misunderstanding but had no problems with the company.

I'm a very happy customer. I purchased an Angie's deal and within six hours the work was done - The company contacted me as soon as the purchase was processed and they had an electrician in DC waiting for another job, so I was fortunate to take advantage of the window. The electrician was prompt, quick, and completed the work without any problem. I appreciated the clarity about how I would be charged and breakout of charges. Overall great experience. I will use them again in the future for more complicated jobs.

They were not able to do this. They did not do anything. They put the plastic thing over the switches but it never worked. I had to hire someone else to do the job.

Went good. Was on time and gave good explanation and details of what he was fixing. It seemed a little expensive for me but knowing what to fix (small or big) makes a difference. Completed his work in 15 mins, cleaned up and left.

Scheduled for 3pm on Friday but started work at 5:40pm. Company does not appear motivated to make repairs as they charge by the quarter hour. We know no more than when we started: there are three outlets without power due to an unidentified problem.

It was great! I called Murphy Family Electric and they set me up with an appointment right away. The electrican Jeff called before he came and completed the job in less than the allotted time. He helped me with my outside lights and stayed until I knew what to do in the future. I was extremely happy with the job and follow-up call. Would recommend and use again in the future.

It was very good. I didn't have the work done, one of my staff did. But I think it was a good experience. I thought everything worked out with that. I didn't hear that it didn't work out. I didn't hear any problems. I'm overall very pleased with the service that was provided for me.

I think this is a good company that did a good job, but quite frankly, is too expensive, even with the deal. Our electrician was great (I think his name was Dennis). He was professional, friendly, and worked very efficiently and I was very satisfied with the completed work. That being said, I went into this fully understanding how this deal works (essentially paying $129 for the cost of them to visit and the first 30 minutes or service); however, when all is said and done, it took the electrician 75 minutes to complete the work, which resulted in my spending an extra $110, for a total cost of nearly $240 for 75 minutes of work. If you read Murphy's responses in their comments, they will vehemently defend the deal and explain that it is a good price compared to their regular costs. I don't doubt this. However, if you search Angie's List for other deals, you can find many other electricians with A ratings who are charging MUCH less (a few examples I found, $125 for one hour, $135 for one hour, $212 for two hours). Bottom line - the electrical work was performed well and I would use them again in a pinch. However, I would probably shop around for a better deal in the future.

I was getting a shock from one of my outlets. They did extensive work to fix it, but it went great.

The workers were unprofessional and bad mouthed the owner.

I should have read the fine print more closely....$99 for first 30 minutes and then they charge you for extra time, labor, materials thereafter. While the technician was very professional, polite, and efficient, I was not happy with the final price. whats done is done. job was completed, though I will think twice before I buy this $99 "deal" again.

We had a lot of very specific lighting work that needed to be done. The company sent out the same technician several times, who was very good at what he does. We have used them on several occasions and we are very pleased with the service.
