Murphy Family Electric

They were very quick to schedule an appointment after I bought a coupon for a panel replacement. The problem occurred when I received very short and vague email responses when I asked questions about the panel replacement and the procedures with the electric company that needed to be followed. I was told there was a difference in price between a panel replacement and a panel upgrade, but they couldn't explain to me which one I was receiving. I asked if I needed to notify the electric company or apply for a permit of some sort, and was told I needed to figure it out on my own. So I called my local permit office and asked if I needed a permit. They said only if I was getting a panel upgrade. Which led me back to the same question... which one was I receiving? After a few more emails back and forth, nothing was cleared up, so Murphy's recommended that I ask for my money back from angies list and my appointment was cancelled. So I happily asked for a refund and was given it. I was disappointed in the fact that I could not get a straight answer from them about the services that I was receiving, but they did respond in a very timely manner which I appreciated.

Everything went smoothly. It was nice to be able to purchase a short visit at a reasonable rate.

I purchased a deal. It all went well, the fuse box needed a new switch which they charged as extra which was clearly noted in the deal fine print. The job was completed promptly.

Good. Outlet is installed and works properly. Was charged for additional time due to the need to go into the attic and run a new feed to the outlet as the existing wall did not have any power outlets. Installer told me that the initial price was for extending an existing circuit on the same wall to a new outlet up to 8 feet away, so I understood the additional charges for the extra work in the attic.

I bought a deal/voucher on Angie's List to have an outlet installed at a set price. Contacted the owner to try and arrange things, but he didn't seem familiar with how I'd actually use my voucher. In fact, he was trying to get me to go through [*** Link removed ***] to book a new appointment, and quoted me prices for services... kind of like he wasn't aware or didn't care I had already paid... I didn't feel like dealing with it so I got a refund from Angie's List. Kind of surprised that Murphy Family Services told them the work was performed when the opposite is true.... seems like a big oversight or just plain dishonest.

Two outlets were installed behind two mounted TVs. The electrician was able to run the cable through a closet and behind the wall so that it was not exposed. This was an unexpected benefit as I was expecting multiple holes in order to run the cable over and down beside the fireplace. Big win as I didn't have to spackle and paint. He also replaced a faulty light switch. The electrician was friendly and walked me through his plan and steps. Happy with the services and would hire them again.

Michael was fantastic! He was on-time, incredibly courteous, performed the work efficiently and cleaned up.

All went well with the installation. First time he had installed one of these devices. Price seemed high to me when using a coupon to lower cost.

Perfectly. As promised, Erik called when he was on his way and arrived in the time slot promised. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem - tested outlets in all the bathrooms. To my great relief, he re-set the switch near the electrical panel. The problem was solved and I now know how to solve it myself in the future. He was very thorough and professional. I would absolutely hire Murphy Electric for any future electrical problems.
