Description of Work: Murphy Electric installed new switches for the remote use of two ceiling fans which are working perfectly. I would certainly use them again. They were here on time and went right to work.

Description of Work: I had an appointment scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd with Murphy Family Electric at 10AM. No one showed up, or called. I called 3 times before finally having my call answered by Sean, the owner. He asked if the electrician ever showed up. I told him, no. He said he would try to get a hold of him and call me right back. I never heard from him until the following day when I emailed him asking him how I could cancel the service request. He apologized, said the appointment should never been scheduled, and asked me to be kind when I rated his company. My problem with all of this is the lack of communication. If I had been called back Saturday morning I would be less upset than I am now. I understand that things happen, but I spent my entire day waiting on someone to arrive. I have been without a stove for over a month due to kitchen renovations, and was looking forward to finally having this resolved this past Saturday. Now, because of this lack of professionalism, I have to wait another week before I can accomodate another company to come and complete the work. I also had to re-schedule a plumber I had scheduled for this week, to perform their work once the electrician completed their part.

Description of Work: Fixed ceiling fan that stopped working. Mr. Elliot solved the problem by trouble shooting the motor and the remote control. Checked very high halogen ceiling lights. Advised me about basement lights.

Description of Work: Provided estimates for a couple jobs. Fixed a faulty outlet. Converted 2 outlets to 3-prong. Tested outlet in basement. Looked at panel.

Description of Work: They had to install a new lamp in the walk-in closet. Everything was done efficiently, and clean. He even looked and fixed another electrical problem in the house, all within the hour I paid for.

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal - $99 for $200 worth of services and found it cost-effective. The company was very professional about utilizing the coupon, scheduling and following up with me after the service was performed.

Description of Work: They were called to replace what I thought was a defective GFI outlet. We had not been able to reset it for weeks. When they got there, it was working so all they did was to replace the existing outlet with a new one. Within a day, the new one wouldn't reset, either. They did come back out and figured out why the outlet was not resetting. It took a third trip to have time to run a new wire to replace a defective one. The bottom line is that now everything is working again, although it took 3 trips to get it done.

Description of Work: I purchased a big deal - $99 for $200 worth of electrical services from Murphy Family Electric. I called Murphy Family Electric to inquire about a final price for installing a bath exhaust fan, I spoke to a nice lady who quoted me a final price that was adjusted to reflect the big deal discount. I called a different company and before attempting to quote me a price, this other company tried to understand exactly where the bathroom was located and what was above the bathroom. I decided to go with the other company that took the time to understand what the work entailed before attempting to quote me a price. Notwithstanding my decision to go with a different company, I do not have anything negative to say about Murphy Family Electric since no work was performed.

Description of Work: I hired Murphy Family Electric to install a ceiling fan in a bedroom. They were on time and cleaned up after the work was complete. I would definitely hire them again.

Description of Work: Installed an outdoor light; replaced another outdoor light; hooked up shutters for an exhaust system in a small greenhouse. The technician was aware that the billing was in 15 minute increments and he hustled right along w/o wasting time.

Description of Work: Company repaired upstairs bathroom GFCI and repaired infrared light (socket was loose).
