Description of Work: Very polite serviceman changed a wall socket to three prong from 2 prong for a new washing machine installation. Very satisfied with their service.

Description of Work: While the technician who showed up and performed the work did a good job, Murphy Family Electric's scheduling practice, pricing structure and professional interaction were sub-standard. | |Scheduling: Murphy Family Electric did not return our calls to schedule the appointment once we purchased the "deal" at Angie's list. Worst still, once scheduled (they were supposed to arrive between 10am and 1pm), we had to call them at 2pm to find out whether they would show or not. The technician showed up at 4pm. | |Pricing: The "deal" purchased on Angie's List was "$99 for $200 worth of electric service". Murphy Family Electric charges $130 just to show up at your door and then $35 for every 15 minutes of work. So, when the technician (finally) showed up at our door at 4pm, by 4:30, the $200 deal had been used. It took the technician a legitimate 2 hours and 45 minutes to troubleshoot and solve our problem, but this meant I had to pay an additional $315. Although this pricing structure may be in-line with other electric company's pricing (but after shopping for other deals on Angie's List and other places, Murphy Family Electric pricing seems exorbitant), I believe this pricing structure should be noted upfront in the "deal" on Angie's List. |In short, the "$99 for $200 worth of electric service 'deal'" from Murphy Family Electric on Angie's List only covers 30 minutes of service, so BUYER BEWARE!! | |Professionalism: I suspect because our problem took too long to troubleshoot (it was dark by the time he was done), the technician did not leave an invoice. Murphy Family Electric called (three days later) to collect the balance due (which again, came as quite a shock), but did not provide an invoice. We had to ask for the breakdown of the charges (see above pricing breakdown). We paid the invoice over the phone and received an email confirmation of payment. Two weeks later, Murphy Family Electric called us requesting we pay for services rendered. We told them we had already paid them. But apparently they could not find proof of payment in their office and asked us to send them proof. We told them we would not. We have our receipt and I was not about to take the time to look for it to provide it to them. I do not feel the customer should be a business's financial backup and track down a business's lost transactions.

Description of Work: Replaced one ceiling fixture and repaired an outdoor light as well as two other ceiling ones. Worked quickly and efficiently, cleaned up nicely after himself, was very pleasant.

Description of Work: The guy who took our call was pleasant and efficient. We asked to have two things installed -- an exterior motion detector light and a pipe heat tape, and to have a fuse-box re-connected to our AC condenser. | |The actual work itself was fine! The guy who came to do the work was kind of grumpy. | |He said he wasn't used to doing residential work and was troubled about having to cut into our drywall to do the light installation. He also didn't want to do the heat tape install -- which turned out to be the right call, as we're now having the problem pipes in question moved (they're on an uninsulated addition wall). While he was audibly complaining about it he did the fuse box and the light and they're fine now. | |I found it odd that they'd send someone to a residence who wasn't used to residential, but all in all the work was fast, efficient and he was conscientious about the drywall cuts, and leaving the pieces for easy repair.

Description of Work: The Murphy's people were fantastic. I used them for a new outlet for an above stove microwave that required its own circuit. They had to come out twice (once on short notice and a holiday to boot!) to work with the cabinet folks who were redoing the kitchen, and just as professional as could be. | |I highly recommend.

Description of Work: Fixed flickering lighting fixtures in basement. Tied off wires from wall phone that was no longer in use. Did excellent job - personable, knowledgeable and efficient.
