Never received services . When I booked on their website was given a 10 am time slot then received a text that said unless I was willing to pay for a half day service I couldn’t have that time. I was given a 445-645 time slot later that day then received call from tech that he wasn’t going to be able to make that appointment at 4 pm. He promised to be out on the next day between 0830-0900. I received a text saying they would be out between 0930-1130. At 0940 received call from tech saying he was running behind due to traffic and would from there in next 30 minutes. Had several phone conversations with tech after he got lost 1.5 miles from my home he then turned around and had to go to a confirmed appointment. Would not use these folks found a licensed person who called and came out when scheduled and completed project right then and there

Danny was very professional and efficient. We made an appointment with him since he had previously done a great job installing recessed lighting in our kitchen and family room that we really enjoy. We needed to add a new light switch, a dimmer switch, and an upgraded circuit and outlets for two recently added sump pumps. Danny explained our options and worked with us to get the upgrades we needed, We are very pleased with the results!

Turned out yo be 50 that needed correcting... Danny was efficient and competent

Danny is very good at what he does. The job was performed as expected and Danny did a great job. I appreciate him coming to such a remote place. I plan to request him again for future work.

The service provided by Danny at Murphy were amazing. He showed up ready to work. He communicate with me to let me know when he would be arriving, so I didn't have to wait around all day like you do for other people. He was able to diagnose the problem right away and got right to work on it. HE even let me assist so I can learn a thing or two. Danny worked hard the whole time he was there, and the best part was he stayed until the job was done. That meant he was working until 11pm. The work ethic Danny had was amazing. I plan on hiring him again for other jobs I have in the area as I am a property manager.

when I asked for an estimate on my ceiling fan installation, Murphy responded quickly with a time estimate, and suggested a couple of deals they had available with Angie's list. I took them up on the deal that seemed the best fit for my project, and made an appointment for the work online, so easy! The techs were on time, polite and professional. excellent work on the install, including electrical boxes and remote controls.

We hired this company based on their electrician for a day special to install four ceiling fans, which replaced existing light fixtures, and address a few additional issues in our house. The electrician they sent was polite and seemed to do a good job, although he didn’t get to anything other than the ceiling fans. He ended up spending about 1.5 hours on each fan and an hour to get parts at Home Depot. The reason I am giving the company a poor rating is the hidden fees they charged us. In addition to the $595 advertised fee, there was a $35 “van parts fee.” The electrician had to purchase four ceiling fan boxes at Home Depot, which resulted in a fee of $29.50 for “van and fleet maintenance.” The parts he bought sell at Home Depot for around $14 each, but we were charged $44.50 for each of them. We needed four of them, so this added up to an extra mark up of around $122. I have worked with other companies in the past that don’t charge these extra fees and mark ups. In addition, the fees and mark ups were not obvious when purchasing the deal on the website. So I would advise anyone considering hiring this company to beware of the extra fees and mark ups and factor them into your decision when considering the company’s quoted prices. It seems to me that their strategy is to advertise a good deal and then hit their customers with unreasonable extra charges to run up the bill, so I won’t be hiring them again.

Jake was prompt, courteous and did an amazing job installing a brand new ceiling fan in my daughter's bedroom. And due to the deal I bought from Angie's List for the company, the price was right! I would definitely recommend Murphy Family Electric, especially Jake, for any electric job you have, big or small.

Danny came on a service call to look at an exterior outlet that did not work when I bought my house years ago. He did a lot of detective work to find out where the issue was, and gave me some repair options. He recommended scheduling a new appointment with a half-day deal, rather than continuing the repair with the service call rate. He also gave me a list of supplies that I could pick up in advance to save some time (and money). When he came back, he installed a new junction box, connected the wires to a circuit (it didn't work because the wires were just tied off), and replaced and sealed the outlet. He had to remove and reinstall the dishwasher in the process, and cleaned up the work area well. Danny was very nice, answered all my questions, and took the time to do things right. I plan to hire him again.

Jake is professional, knowledgable, and super efficient. He did a good, clean, fast job. We had planned on getting only the ceiling fans installed, but because he finished early, we were also able to get a light switch repaired which was great. We intend using their services for any future electrical work in our home.

The technician called to say let us know that he was enroute and provided an arrival time. Jake arrived and checked the work area made me aware of what was needed to performed the installation and asked permission to the work that was required.. Jake was professional, provided update information and completed the installation in a timely manner.

It went very well. The electrician, Danny, was excellent. When an opening in his schedule became available a day earlier than our planned appointment, he called to see if I wanted to take it. I found it much more convenient. As the company had requested, I had ordered and purchased the "fan" in advance. It was composed of parts that fit into the existing fan housing. Danny installed it, but found that style produced a rattling vibration which I did not want. He suggested a style that would perform better and cost only a little more. It included both the interior and exterior parts and dropped down from the roof into the attic. Although it was late in the day and extremely hot, he went to the hardware store, found the new type, and installed it. The cost of the job included the service and the new fan. He helped me pack up the other fan for return to the supplier and also gave me free advice about some unrelated wiring in the attic that was not up to code and would not pass inspection, if I had one in the future. The new fan has a thermostat and is working well.

The technician arrived on time and performed the task and left the work area clean, Jake was courteous and professional.

Danny was my technician and I found him to be reliable, knowledgeable, perseverant, and professional. I procrastinated several months on finding an electrician to fix a wiring issue that was affecting the lighting in my basement because I was intimidated by what I thought would be a huge cost, and by what a different electrician had told me. It was recommended that I purchase the half day electrician for the day package which was a great deal for what I needed. Danny took his time trying to diagnose the problem and when he found it there was a slight chance the repair would involve cutting into the drywall. He had a solution that would have avoided that but in the end he was able to find and fix the problem without any wall cutting. I appreciated his tenacity. I also appreciated that as a female homeowner I was treated fairly and respectfully. Danny made some recommendations that I will mostly likely follow-up on. I highly recommend Murphy Family Services.

Jake was able to correct the complex wiring problem, even despite original 1938 wiring and cramped attic access. I was able to book an appointment online within 24 hours. I would not hesitate to hire these guys again for any electrical work big or small!

Jake was super informative, helpful, quick, and explained what was going on. Checked to see the junction box was rated for my fan, repaired the wiring, gave me some advice on installation and the most efficient way to take care of some other needs down the road. There was no upselling

I know nothing about electrical work. And living in DC it just never feels easy to get stuff done in our apartment--we don't know who to hire, prices are super high, etc. I found Murphy Family Services on Angie's List and called them because they had so many positive reviews. After working with them to install three ceiling fans in our bedrooms, I understand why they have so many positive ratings; I would highly recommend them. Making the appointment was really easy as I received a response within minutes of sending an inquiry. I was a little surprised by the idea of paying for a half or whole day rather than per fan, but in the end I understand how working on a half/whole day schedule makes a lot of sense, and their prices was fairly reasonable. Our electrician, Jake, was very professional and friendly. He answered all of my questions and explained everything he needed to do. I would absolutely recommend Jake and Murphys Family Services. We will definitely call them again.
