UPDATE: The company came back out, re-checked the gutters and cleaned out the ones they missed the first time. I have updated my score accordingly as they made a good faith (and prompt) attempt to rectify the problem. They showed up, did some work (though not enough) and left.

I was not at home the time they came for the service, but i can see from my upstair's windows and they did a good job cleaning it.

UPDATE: Soon after this review was posted I received a call and an email from this company. Kent provided a much-appreciated overview of the services rendered and explained why his tech recommended a new roof. As a result I am upgrading my rating to an overall B. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased the big deal from Angie's List for a gutter and downspout cleaning. I do not recall the exact date of service so above date is a guesstimate. Provider arrived on time and spent some time in his truck writing before ringing doorbell. I was home but very sick so did not meet the guy who did the cleaning but I can confirm that the whole thing took about 10 minutes tops. No debris was bagged or placed on our curb so not sure there was really much to clean. They left a recommendation that we replace our front gutter (fair enough) and have our roof replaced. Not sure how the guy could determine we needed a new roof after spending 10 min vacuuming our gutters. I'm not so sure $99 was such a great deal for 10 minutes of vacuuming. Perhaps if provider had followed up with a call to discuss our specific roof problems, or sent photos of problem areas to me, I would have been less suspicious. Instead I got a second opinion. A second opinion confirmed that the roof is in good shape for another 5 years or so as long as we maintain it. I cannot help feeling like I spent $99 so they could recommend a more expensive service to me.

Our tenets reported that the work was very well done. There were no issues with the work that was done.

Men performing the work seemed competent and quite hard working

My initial experience with Metrogutter was rather negative -- the technician who showed up for the job, quoted me a very high price ($75) to re-attach a detached downspout to a gutter (a 2-minute, 2-screw job), then offered to do the job "off the books" for $30. After all that, he failed to clean the downspouts. So I complained, vigorously, in this forum. What followed, however, was a testament to this company's responsiveness and to its commitment to quality and to reputation for quality. The President of the company personally called to apologize, offered to refund the money, and sent another crew out to do a first-rate job of cleaning the gutters and downspouts for no additional charge. The company even installed screens to the downspouts to prevent future clogging, at no extra charge, as compensation for my inconvenience. I declined the refund, accepted the screens, and ended up feeling happy with the service and fairly treated. Any company can make mistakes or have individuals who make mistakes. Metrogutter's response convinced me that my initial experience was a rare and isolated mishap. Overall, I recommend them highly and will use them again.

The company cleaned all gutters on three level house. All debris was bagged and lined up neatly on the driveway. The service was better than expected. The promotional price was great.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were okay. If you want other cleaning services, they don't tell you that there is an extra charge. The $95 was for a basic cleaning. If I had wanted a deep cleaning, they wanted to charge more. I didn’t need an extensive cleaning because there wasn't a lot caked in my gutters. They advertise that for $95 they will clean all your gutters, but that is not really true. They were professional and they did good quality work. They were real professional and it took about 1-1 1/2 hours to do the work. I didn't have a problem with them at all. It was a good company. The price was excellent.

Good enough - gutters and downspouts were clear - would hire again - for the same price.

The company did an excellent job. I did not see them because they came when I was out, but they called to say when they would be at my house and again when they had to move the date. They called again to give me a number I could call with questions or complaints. I asked them to leave the bags of debris for me to put on my compost pile, and they did. The price I paid was an Angie's List special. i would hire this company again.

They came when they were supposed to, they bagged it, and set the leaves by the curb. They did a great job. They easy to work with.

I was not present when the workman did the work. I arrived home just in time to show him my confirmation. I have no way to judge his performance until we have a substantial rain. The work was done much later than originally scheduled.

Very well;o complaints. The company could not perform the serviices immendiatley bacause of inclement weather, but kept me informed throughtout until the weather was warm enough.

Apparently they are a victim of their own success (?). We called them in late November/early December 2012 after seeing their excellent review on Angie's List and getting a coupon for their services but were told that they didn't have any openings until January 2013. When they finally were able to come, they did a good job, were professional, etc. However, my wife and I had to spend a month-and-a-half sweating out the potential for a major rain and/or snow storm to cause our leaf-filled gutters to overflow. Fortunately, no large storms came through during that time but I'm not sure we would be willing to roll the dice like that again in the future.

When the reservation was made, requested the pitch of the gutters be checked due to when it rains the gutters drip over the edge. The final receipt left by the company did not annotate if the pitch of the gutters was checked/corrected.

The service was fine. I was not home during the work but they completed the job. My only complaint is there was some scheduling issues but it was partly my fault.

They were very good. The guy cleaned up everything and he was excellent. They did a wonderful job. They were efficient and left my gutters very clean with no mess.

I got an Angie's List Deal to get my gutters cleaned. They took a while to get back to me after I requested a cleaning. They cleaned the gutters when I was out of town, and since I couldn't see them before, I can't tell what kind of job they did. They must have bagged all the leaves and debris and taken away, because there were none in our trash, which was nice.

They did an excellent job and analyzed some deficiencies in my roof as well. All in all, I'm vary happy to have worked with them.

At this point, it appears that it was done well. We haven't had any big rain so the job hasn't had the ultimate test.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They came in the early morning and that worked fine for us. They did wake us up. We didn't observe the work but it was very convenient. They left us a report of what they did. It was quick and easy. We didn't oversee what they did so we don't know how good a job they did. It was a good price.

I used just their big deal. Their service was fine. They were timely. They were responsive. The completed their work.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal for $99 for gutter cleaning by Metro Gutter. I have used Metro Gutter several times in the past and have always been satisfied with their service. The $99 Big Deal is about $25 less than I am normally charged, so I thought this was a good deal. I called Mertro Gutter to schedule the appointment and they scheduled my service for about 3 weeks later. They came on the appointed day, cleaned the gutters, and left me an invoice for an extra $50 charge. I called the company the next day to inquire about this additional charge and was told that the additional fee was because I have gutter guards on the gutters. I told the representative that I thought this was an unfair charge, was not agreed to, and that with the Angie's List Big Deal i was actually charged MORE than i normally pay absent any sort of promotional deal. the representative said i would have to speak to the owner about. she took my phone number and said she would have him call me. I waited a few days, received no phone call and called again. Again I was told that the owner would call me. That was about 2 weeks ago and it is apparent that the owner has no intention of calling me back. Not only did this Big Deal end up costing me more than I otherwise would pay to have my gutters cleaned by this same company, but now I find the company's behavior so unethical and outrageous that I will never use them again. I would note also that a coworker of mine called Metro Gutter to inquire about an estimate for gutter cleaning. She asked how they determine the price charged. The representative stated that the price is based solely on the length of the gutters. My coworker told the representative that she has guards on her gutters and specifically asked if there is an additional fee to clean gutters if there are guards on them. She was told no, there is no additional fee. So I guess Metro Gutter only charges extra when it wants to weasel it's way out of a deal offered on Angie's List. This makes Metro Guttter look bad, but it also makes Angie's List look bad. I must say, this will make we think twice before I ever sign up for another deal advertised by Angie's List! And now I have to find another company to clean my gutters in the future.
