Chad was recommended to me by the office at Friendly Plumber as someone who was an expert with radiant heat systems. I had two other companies come and give me bids but their bids ranged from $650 to $20,000+. When Chad looked at my system, it was obvious that he knew what he was talking about. He was very thorough in his assessment and with his explanation to me, the customer. His bid was fair and made sense, given the work that needed to be accomplished. When he came to do the repair work, he went the extra mile to clean up the floor, replace the ceiling tiles, and even got on my roof to check out an old swamp cooler - not even the issue at hand. I would highly recommend Chad and Friendly Plumber!

I recommend you get a detailed itemized bid from this company. I had to have a ball valve and according to them a pressure regulator replaced, even though only the ball valve was leaking, the pressure test showed fine for the regulator. The cost was $700.00 and 2 hours of their time. I thought this was excessive, and the technician asked if I had ever dealt with a plumber before. At the time I said no, but later remembered having a gate valve replaced on the secondary water main, and that cost $150.00. I talked to the owner of this company, and he says that whoever did my gate valve on the secondary lost money. He also justified their high cost due to paying, insurance, vehicle upkeep, workmen's comp, and so forth. Well I am sure the other plumber I dealt with had the same costs, just like any other business. So at the beginning of the call the parts cost was roughly $250.00, and $450.00 for 2 hours of labor. Then later in the call, the parts cost went up to over $600.00, and they should have billed me another $150.00. My reason for questioning this, is I went to a website called homewyse.com, and entered in the information about the work that was done, and they give you a rough idea on the cost. According to the website, this job should have cost roughly $400.00. The owners said that isn't even close, and it doesn't include the operating costs mentioned above. I find that hard to believe that a site would list rough bids without taking everything into consideration. Sadly no other plumbers in the area would give me a rough bid over the phone, so I have no comparison. The owner said they have a book to go by for bidding jobs, but not once did the tech open any book, or reference anything as far as giving me the bid, it was all off the top of his head, so to speak. Here is an update. After about 5 days, I noticed the carpet in my closet was soaking wet, worse than the week before when they changed this so-called leaking valve. They sent out the same plumber who had no idea. So he called a different company that deals with water damage, and they found all the water was coming from the floor. There is a drain in the laundry room where the water softener purges/recharges. This drain is 2 feet from the valve that they said needed to be replaced. It turns out this drain was clogged, and was flooding the laundry room. If you go with this company get absolute proof of what they want to repair. Do not blindly trust them like I did. They had no clue what the problem was, and billed me to replace a valve and pressure regulator that did not need to be replaced.
