I had received a bid for a project and placed a LARGE (10K) down payment in good faith for the project. Prior to starting the project I was informed the bid was going to be increased by $20,000 dollars based on the fact I had decided not to build a swimming pool at the same time as my addition. When we told them we were no longer interested in using them for the project and asked for the deposit back, they refused to refund any of the money. Unless you like putting your money directly into the toilet I would not recommend even my worst enemy use this company for any type of project. Headaches for day 1. They also had their attorney call me and ask that I remove my review. I stated if I were to get my deposit back I would gladly do so. To date I have received none of the 10K back and feel that I need to warn everyone who is looking for a contractor to stay away from this company.
Description of Work: Hired them to do an addition above my garage and remodel my master bathroom.

I did not have such a pleasant experience with them. They still have not finished. We signed a contract three years ago and it took him a good eight months to get here. He then walked off the job and never finished. We have paid twice for a lot of this stuff. I don’t want other to have the same problem. He demanded a deposit for the railing of the deck saying it was third party. We paid him the money and he took off with it. He left us with plumbing work and we had to hire someone else to do the work. The work is still not done. We are in the process of calling others to finish the job he started. I got online and found that others also had a problem with him. If people go to the Internet they can see that he is dishonest. He told us he had a building permit and we paid for it. We then found out that he never filed a building permit with our city. We could have been in trouble because of that anytime. He said he would take care of it but he did not. We have not decided what to do about it. We don’t know if we need to take him to the claim court. It was a really bad experience we had. We are not the only people who had this experience. We found other people on the internet. He was supposed to do an addition on a day care and he failed all the instructions and did not meet the building codes for those. Now they have to go to someplace else. Somebody else I found on the internet complained saying why did he not look at the internet before hiring him. He built a deck for him and it took him a year and half finish it. He said that they had to keep calling him to come back and then he did all wrong. He had to take it all out and the work is still not finished. We paid him about $55500 for this whole job and he walked off with that money. He was supposed to do the upper deck which he did not finish. He did not finish the steps either. Third party railings were all by itself. I had a contract with him. The original amount was a lot small but he kept coming in and saying he wanted more money. I can’t tell you how bad it was. It was miserable and awful. The original contract was for $38500 and he kept coming back asking for more money. I have worked with so many other people and only this one was so dishonest. We would like to warn others about our experience. The railing costed another $6000. The railings were ornamental iron. I don’t know why they had to come and install it. The lady in the counter checked her records and said he had not paid for any railing. He had obviously lied to us. He had not paid them. Last winter I had people knocking on my door because he had not paid them. We had two legal threats filed against us for not paying. The concrete guy also had the same story. He had paid him only $2000. He had not paid anybody and he just walked off. We have had to hire people to do the plumbing and other work. We still have things to be fixed which he did wrong.
Description of Work: We used PineTree Construction do some remodeling and add an addition in our backyard. They did a upper deck and railing.
