I am so pleased with Earthwise House Cleaning Service that I have hired them for a weekly 4 hour service. Lou is a pleasure to work with and her attention to detail is a delight! Thank you, Angie's List, my first experience using you could not have gone better!!
Description of Work: Michelle McKenna with Earthwise Cleaning Service returned my call within five minutes of when I left her a message and scheduled someone to clean my home within the next two days! Lou did an excellent job cleaning my bathrooms which included straightening out and neatly displaying all of my facial washes, moisturizers, creams and what-nots that were just crammed on trays on top of my cabinets next to my sinks! She spent over 4.5 hours dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and polishing two master bedrooms, two master bathrooms, an open kitchen, dining room, living room area.

I myself can get all of that done in less than an hour and feel that paying the $60 was a bit much for her to do what was actually an hour?s worth of work. I will continue my search for a regular house cleaning company. It wasn't a fantastic first impression overall based on the work that was performed in the 2 hour period. April 01, 2013 UPDATE: The issue was that the amount of work done wasn't equivalent to the amount of time that was paid for that the worker was there - my house was not filthy and I explained that I'm searching for a regular service to come in and do the work so that I don't have to. I contacted the owner prior to posting my review as a courtesy and she made an offer to send someone back to the house for another hour. I was very optimistic when she responded with that offer. However, It is now April 1st and she is not responding to any of my emails inquiring on when she plans to have someone come back to my home. From the looks of her response, she doesn't intend to keep her word on following through to make things right. This is poor follow up and it seems that she was more interested in responding to my review than she is to following up to ensure that a potential future regular customer is happy with her company's services. It doesn't make any sense? **UPDATE 04/05/2013: I just received this very childish email from the owner of the company: The more I thought about it and spoke to my girl, you received your 2 hours of cleaning. For someone to be so negative and just jump on a site and write negative comments is just sad without even contacting a company first. I'm sorry for that. I hope whatever is going on in your life gets better and you find happiness some day. Good luck. Michelle FIRST: I sent multiple emails to this woman - she even states in her response that she received my email letting her know exactly what I was going to post on Angie's List (as a courtesy - something I didn't have to do). Then she responded offering to make up for the shortcomings. I emailed twice after that and she never responded to either- I have delivery confirmation on my email that shows both emails were received and read. SECOND: I'm extremely outraged and would NEVER recommend anyone do business with her/this company. I'm baffled and completely in disbelief that she (as a business OWNER) would choose this route. My initial review was not negative and I posted EXACTLY what I had previously informed her that I would. How immature and ingorant must you be to send such a condescending message to a customer?!? It's very sad that the owner of the business chose to be childish and worry more about a review (which is very easily changed if/when things are corrected) instead of doing the right thing and following up with a customer in a professional manner - even if to advise that she had chosen not to send anyone back to my home. Every bit of this could and SHOULD have been handled very different by her as a business owner - especially that she made the choice to make everything final with the condescending email that she sent finally after NO contact at all. The review wasn't even a bad thing in the beginning. I'm thoroughly disgusted with this entire situation and interraction. I've requested a partial refund at this point.
Description of Work: I purchased the 2 hour cleaning from Angie’s List as a trial of the company. Scheduling the appointment was a breeze - no issues whatsoever. The worker arrived promptly at 9am. However, I must admit that I’m somewhat disappointed with my 2 hour “trial run” cleaning that took place yesterday. In the 2 hours that she was at my home, she vacuumed the carpet in the living room and a small walk-thru area next to my kitchen, my eat-in kitchen floor and small entry walkway tile was cleaned, and the walls were wiped down. It looks like there was an attempt made to clean the kitchen table, but there were areas left on the table that were unclean from the morning’s breakfast.

This customer sent me an email with all the same information, but also included in the email was: " I just thought that I would let you know that it wasn’t a fantastic first impression based on the cleaning that was performed. This is what will be reflected on my review as well." My email response was: "Hi [member name removed], I have no problem sending someone back out for another hour. I really appreciate your email and your input. I need customers like you to let me know if there is a problem with our cleaning. I will never say we are perfect, but we will bend over backwards to service you to the best of our ability and make sure you are satisfied. Please let me know when I can send someone else to your home for an additional hour." Her response a day later was: "That is very kind of you. Thank you very much. My husband is home with a back injury, so our schedule is very open and someone is virtually always home and available. If you just tell me what works for your schedule, we will accommodate." Honestly, I don't know how dirty her floors or walls were so it's hard to base a time on how long it would take to clean them and other than the table, which she is unsure if we even cleaned, there didn't seem to be a problem with the cleaning, just the amount of time it took. She didn't say she stood around, so I'm assuming she worked the entire 2 hours.

I have tried to work with several individuals and services for house cleaning. These folks are absolutely the best I've found. They remember the specifics I've asked for (like don't get my wood floors wet, please use only natural cleaning products without chlorine, etc). They do a good job! The one time I felt something wasn't done well, I called and they sent someone right away, corrected it and made sure it was done as I'd asked after that. Whenever I want something done differently, they are very open to talking to me about it, and they remember what we agreed on. I think they are a little higher than I might pay another service, but for me they are really worth it. They are one of the few cleaners I've had that I feel absolutely comfortable giving a key, and having in my house (they are even sweet to my dog!). I'm pleased to recommend them.
Description of Work: They regularly clean three bedrooms, two baths, an office, dining room, living room and kitchen. Everything from floors to ceiling fans. As I have health issues I need a service that uses natural products with no harsh chemicals, and they always clean that way for me. Floors are swept and mopped if linoleum or tile; dust mapped in the areas that are hard wood floors.

Overall it went great. The place was pretty bad and the two girls left it looking like a new home.
Description of Work: This was my first time ever hiring anyone to come clean my place. The girls were wonderful and professional. They did a great job and left the place looking beautiful. Overall they did a good job, but when my husband came home he started to point out that the kitchen sink grains were still grimey as were the bathroom sinks. It did not look as though they swept before mopping as there were clumps of dirt on the edges of the walls. I emailed Michelle about my findings and concerns that it may be too big of a job. I never got a response back, however, I did get a response of "this is a reminder that you have a cleaning this Thursday". I had informed her in the previous message I would not need their services anymore. I do not mind paying if the job is well done.
Description of Work: Michelle was very responsive on the phone and was able to schedule a couple of people to come and clean my home at a reasonable time. The girls were very friendly. When they arrived, I showed them areas that I would like cleaned and also showed them places that did not need doing such as my office, 2 bathrooms did not need doing (they are not used) and a bedroom did not need doing.

SUPERLATIVE!! EXCELLENT! By far, the BEST service we have had since moving to San Antonio 8 years ago. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND them. They didn't miss cleaning anything. The house has never looked better. We truly can't say enough about how happy we are with their service. We will be using them regularly, every 2 weeks. :o)

I purchased a holiday special package to START getting my parents' house under control. Health problems have interfered with their ability to clean, and I live too far away to help out very much. Michelle came to the house and talked with us about our needs/wants and explained that even though we paid for a "whole house" clean, the condition of the house was bad enough that she applied the money I paid to 3 hours' work for 2 housecleaners. Megan arrived 5 minutes early and Becky arrived 5 minutes late, but they both worked EVERY MINUTE of the 3 hours they were in the house. Megan worked in the kitchen while Becky tackled the main bathroom. Megan cleared out the refrigerator and freezer, threw away all expired food (which my parents are reluctant to do), cleaned thoroughly inside and out and organized the remaining items according to category and frequency of use. She cleaned the microwave inside and out and cleared, cleaned and organized the countertops. Becky removed everthing from the countertops and the bath tub area and thoroughly cleaned the whole bathroom from top to bottom. She even removed the glass shower doors to clean the tracks. They were both very polite and friendly and understood my parents' emotional attachment to things and helped to make the change positive and pleasant. We are very happy with their hard work and I plan to schedule them to come back every two weeks to continue thoroughly cleaning the whole house, then maintain it.

We have been regular customers of Earthwise for over a year now. We have the crew out twice a month (every other week) and I can honestly say that Lolly and Michelle have changed our lives! For two extremely busy working professionals, my husband and I find that the work they do makes our life so much easier! Initially, Michelle came out to see the house and gave us an estimate that we thought was incredibly competitive and fit our budget perfectly. For our first visit, Michelle came out with Lolly, introduced us and even cleaned herself! This is a real self starter type company and I enjoy the honestly and reliability of these ladies to no end! We get a general cleaning that includes bathrooms, floors, kitchens, and all the stuff in between. I have never had any issues with scheduling and find it incredibly easy to email or call Lolly and she has always been more than happy to work with us. We have even had a few instances where our dogs were accidentally left out to roam and Lolly handled it and even said that they liked the dogs! I could not say enough about how much Earthwise Cleaning has pleased us and fits into our situation perfectly. I definitely consider Lolly part of the family and I'm sure she's probably tired of me gushing all over her every time we talk!

I still use them. They are pretty flexible about what you need and for how many hours. I am having a good experience so far. I chose them because they use less toxic and earth friendly products. I had to pay a little more than I was originally quoted because sales tax had to be included.

Spoke with Mrs. Mckenna (owner of Earthwise). Requested a cleaning date of December 3, 2012 and was accommodated. In the interim Mrs. Mckenna sent me two e-mails-----a thank you for choosing Earthwise and a reminder the day before their arrival---which was appreciated. Cindy arrived about 12 minutes early with her smile. Introduced herself and was ready to begin work. Discussed particular areas that needed extra attention and Cindy was in agreement. Cindy worked non-stop , from start to finish, performing tasks I am no longer able to do----remaining professional throughout. Cindy honored all my requests---Cleaned and moped two bathrooms (the two bathtubs have a non-slip pebble finish bottom and have been very tedious for my husband to clean--but with much diligence, Cindy was able to render both very clean), vacuumed the carpets, moped the kitchen and washroom, cleaned walls surrounding light switches, outer stove and back splash and sinks. Again Cindy did everything I asked of her with a "can do" positive attitude. Our home is now sparkling clean. When my husband came home this evening, he walked through the house with a smile on his face. I thank Cindy and Earthwise for coming to help us today.

I have lived in my home for 34 years and it was in DIRE need of deep, intensive cleaning,way beyond what would be considered the "norm". Michelle, the owner, came to my house and concurred that it would take quite a bit of time and several visits to get my home into optimum condition. I concurred and made the appointment for the first 3-hour cleaning. I was pleased and impressed with the 2 women that arrived right on time and we went through my expectations and my understanding that there would be a limit to what could be done in the agreed to 3 hours. They showed great initiative in moving things around, removing all items from the book shelves, moving the book shelves to clean under and behind them. They did quite a few extra nice touches and although there was a lot left to do, I was delighted! I scheduled 2 more visits that didn't go as well, due to changes in personnel, inexperienced workers, 2 people being sick one time, a change in attitude, lots of things done partially or not well. The girls chatted constantly and didn't seem to be working efficiently like they had the first time and each time, even less was accomplished. I called Michelle after the 2nd visit and told her what had happened and that I was disappointed and she assured me she would talk to the girls about it. I went ahead and scheduled the third visit, thinking I might receive some type of discount, which I didn't, and again, as I said above, I was disappointed. There were still a couple of things to be done in the main room and I asked that several other rooms be started (kitchen and baths). I asked that the floors be washed (NOT a large area) and superficial cleaning of the previously cleaned areas occur, this was agreed to, but again the result was disappointing. Truly, my results did not reflect the 9 hours of cleaning I was supposed to receive. I was going to call Michelle again, and then decided against it. I had thought I would use Earthwise again, but the more I thought about it, I decided that I hadn't really gotten my monies worth on the 2 last visits and so I didn't. I have no ill will towards Michelle and her business, and hopefully my last 2 visits were not truly representative of the quality of their work.
Description of Work: First visit was to deep clean the large den area to include book shelves, cabinets, floors, walls, etc., two follow-on visits to complete that and start on other rooms.

This is a tough one. Member is a super nice lady and was in dire needs of some help with her home. Upon my initial visit to her home I told her it was going to take a long time to clean her home because of the condition. To be fair, I also quoted her a per hour price for two girls. I believe we cleaned for a certain amount of time depending on her budget and the girls always stayed longer than what we charged for. The glass shelves in the living room were so dusty that they looked like they had a layer of brown dirt on them and all the trophies and pictures were covered with dirt. The first appointment two girls were there for over 3.5 hours, stayed an extra half and hour free of charge, and worked on only her living room shelves and floor. This house literally had not been cleaned in about 10 years. Jessica said she had been told 30 years, but who knows once a house is this dirty. The walls and doors were filthy. There was dog hair and spider webs everywhere. When the girls mopped the living room floor they said they changed their water over 15 times. There were rugs stuck to the floor with tape that the dogs had been having accidents on. When my girls left this house they literally became ill from all the dust and dander in the house. As far as the talking goes, I spoke to Jessica who is my main trainer and she was on this job all three times. She said they were in separate rooms the 2nd and 3rd visits. I will admit that one of my girls was very scared of her 120lb rottweiler dog that is kept in the house and she probably seemed very nervous around the big dogs. Honestly, when a house is this filthy, it takes so much time to clean a small area and the results all minimal. It took one entire appointment for Jessica to clean a very small master bathroom and she said it still wasn't back to square one.

Great company! They are friendly, show up on time, clean quickly (while doing a good job with the "little things") and are a very good value. The two ladies that come to our house are very good about communicating with us about what we might need done during each visit. (No middle man is needed to translate our requests or their questions.) I do not mind having these ladies in our home, which I cannot say with other services we have used in the past (Merry Maids). I'm comfortable with them and feel they are professional, yet friendly and personable. We continue to use them and will!

Cindy was on time and had a professional attitude. She is respectful, helpful and very responsible. I am unable to move heavy items and she helped me with re-arranging my home to make everything more accessible. I have hired them again since and will hire again in the future. Michelle the owner has been very responsive to my calls and working with my schedule.

My semi-regular house cleaner was unavailable when I needed her, so I looked to Angie's List and was lucky to find EarthWise. I called and left a message asking about cleaning services on Tuesday 10/16 about 4PM, and the owner, Michelle McKenna called me back within 5 minutes. I explained that we had company visiting from out of town for the JDRF walk to cure diabetes, and our house was ridiculously dirty on account of our 3 kids, two dogs, cat and my lazy rear end which my wife tolerates for some reason. Michelle asked about the number stories, approximate square footage, and number of bedrooms and which rooms were tiled or carpeted, then quoted a price of $169 plus tax (I think their prices went up slightly for the holidays... but that's simply supply & demand), and scheduled a cleaning for 9am on Thursday 10/18. I really liked that Michelle was willing to communicate via phone or text message. The two cleaning ladies arrived promptly at 9am. Not early. Not late. Perfect. They introduced themselves, asked for a tour, went over what the services were, and asked if I had any questions, concerns, or special areas I'd like them to focus on. They quickly got to work and occasionally asked me I'd like to check their work in rooms as they finished them. Quality work was done, and everything listed above was completed, plus an extra touch here and there - for example the covered services mention "straighten-up / pick-up" but I never expected to have my kid's stuffed animals and toys neatly and creatively arranged. For standard cleaning services, this is a real bonus - and I'd definitely use Earthwise to help prepare and stage a house for sale. To top things off, I unintentionally made things difficult for the EarthWise team when my carpet cleaner showed up early. The ladies worked quickly and cooperatively with the steam cleaning company to let them get in and out without a complaint. It's also worth noting that there was money and valuables in plain sight, and not one thing went missing. I will definitely use EarthWise again.

Earthwise is an extremely professional group. My initial consultation was with Michelle (the owner) and she was incredibly friendly and attentive to clarify my cleaning needs. She recommended a cleaning professional from her team named Francis. Francis was amazing! From the first day, (and every appointment after) she called to verify her schedule with me. Francis assessed my home and how to best utilize her time effectively. She was punctual, very friendly, and cleaned my home beautifully. We have a lot of breakables throughout our home, and Francis was extremely cautious and took the additional time to clean and take care of them. After a few cleanings, I felt comfortable enough to leave Francis and even offered her a key to my home when I knew I wouldn't be there. (She did not take it, but again, I felt comfortable enough to offer it.) I would highly recommend this company and definitely recommend Francis! If I had a concern, it would be with the pricing. However, I called several companies is San Antonio before deciding on Earthwise and they all seemed to be priced comparably.
Description of Work: Complete House cleaning services. I did not need clothes cleaned or beds made, but this service was offered.

I was anxious to have family come and visit from across the country and had her come out to clean. I felt much better and relaxed by the time she was done.
Description of Work: She came out just before Thanksgiving when family was to arrive and do an overall cleaning of floors, bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom.

The price was very good compared to other cleaning companies. They had A service. They were excellent. They were on time. They did the detailed cleaning. I am really satisfied with them and would use them again when I need it. I did use an Angie's List coupon.
