Wow! The lady and gentleman that run the shop are so very personable, helpful, and courteous; to a degree not often seen these days. I brought in my 1983 Kirby Heritage, as the fan/impeller had broken. The vacuum was dirty and the aluminum very stained. The debris tube that goes from the fan unit was old, hard, split, and repaired with duct tape (but was working quite well). My wife picked up the vacuum and when I unloaded it from the trunk, I was shocked; the unit looked almost new! I really did a look-over to assure they hadn't mistakenly given us the wrong vacuum. The aluminum stains were gone; the housing was bright and shiny. The handle was clean and looked polished. I though the cloth bag was new, but looking closely I could see it was the old bag - it had just been cleaned so well I didn't recognize it. Just for grins, I looked inside - and yes, the debris tube was nice, new, and flexible. The disposable bag was also new. The drive belt was the nearly new original that was on it when I took it to the shop, but they had placed a new one on the handle. The beater brush was so clean and neat that, again, I had to look twice to see if it was my original. All the garbage was cleaned from the wheel axles and the cord had been wiped clean. The attention to detail was terrific. Okay, maybe I should have asked more about what was included in the $39 10-point inspection and service. I thought it was just replacing the motor brushes, bearing service, old wiring, etc.; internal mechanics. I had no idea I'd get back a nearly new vacuum! To think we came so very close to spending $300, plus $70 in shipping, and then tax, to have Kirby perform their 'rebuild program'. What a waste that would have been compared to what was performed locally. I just can't recommend this shop enough. They are totally trustworthy. And when we get too old to push around the old Heritage, I'll just swing by and pick up one of their used self-propelled models - a much better value than any new department store brand. I'm not quick to give a retailer or service shop this kind of accolades, but these folks deserve it. They provided the best bang-for-the-buck that I've had in a long time. Oh! I forgot; I took the vacuum in on Saturday afternoon and they called me Monday that it was ready for pickup. Wow!
