Strand Brothers Service Experts

We were very pleased with recent service provided by Strand Brothers. We replaced our current heating/cooling unit with a new unit. Graham worked with us to find a unit In our budget and to get the unit installed quickly as our old unit would not work at all. The installers, Diego and Natcho, were on time and we hardly knew they were in the house working. They were very inobtrusive and left the house clean as if they had never been there. We would highly recommend Strand Brothers.

Our air conditioner went out on us on Sunday evening, 3/29. We called the service number at 3:45 a.m. and they promptly sent a service person out that morning (3/30) before noon. It was discovered that the problem was in the condenser and coil evaporator. They had to order a part but promptly came out today (3/31) by 10:00 a.m. and had everything working properly in no time. We always purchase an extended agreement (PLUS Agreement), and all the work that they did to fix our air conditioner was covered by this agreement. The technician was prompt, courteous and very professional. I highly recommend this company. We have truly been very satisfied with them and wouldn't have anyone else assist us with our air conditioning needs.

Did not use--the expiration date on the coupon ran out much too soon.

We have been customers of Strand Brothers for 13 years first in Cedar Park and now in Georgetown. Their personnel are professional, courteous, competent, and honest. WE usually ask for the same personnel to maintain the equipment. For the last 3 years Jose has been checking the heating and air conditioning systems. He has spotted potential problems before they caused a major shutdown of the system. With the maintenance contract, we receive discounts for parts. In the 13 years we had only one failure because ants caused a short circuit in the junction box. Strand Bros.responded within the hour and corrected the problem.

About 6 pm on a weeknight we had a shut off valve in our master bath sink break and start spewing water all over the place. We had to shut off the water to the house. It was clear the compression nut on the valve was shot. Really the whole thing looked like it was original to the 1963 home, and needed replacing. I called several emergency plumbers, some of them with emergency in their actual name, and all I got was crappy answering services who told me they'd pass my info a long, with no real assurance if I'd even hear from someone. I called strand around 9:30. When I called, I couldn't tell for sure if was even an answering service. I assume it was, but the guy on the phone seemed to actually know something about plumbing, and after a couple of minutes, he verified that yes they could definitely have a plumber at the house shortly, and I'd hear from the technician soon. It was the only service I called that gave me any indication there would be follow-through. 30 minutes later Aaron arrived at the house. He was incredibly professional, helpful, friendly. He assessed the situation, he explained clearly the problem--yep bad compression valves and nuts--and gave me the options for getting it fixed. When option 1 didn't work, he jumped quickly to a 2nd option without wasting a bunch of time. The whole time he was so clear in keeping me in the loop. Maybe 20 minutes later, he had replaced both valves, and helped me with a few other things under the sink that needed replacing. The work was great, it was fast, and considering it was after hours, the bill was far more reasonable than I expected it to be. We were all showered and ready for bed by 11:30. Aaron and Strand Brothers couldn't have been better, in my experience.

We used them just because they were a provider of a warranty via the manufacturer. I didn't pay anything for the service. It was good. They took a little bit too long to followup with replacing the parts but overall, it wasn't too bad.

They were very liberal with information. They always followed up. They just provided excellent service. They are dependable. They are reliable and have great customer service. They usually aren’t the cheapest buy they by far have the most dependable service. They show up the same day.

Service is fine. Prompt and efficient.

I have a service contract with them. The service is always excellent. They come on time when they say they will be there. They installed a new air conditioner and heater about 3 or 4 years ago. They aren't called service experts for nothing.

This unit was installed a couple of years ago by Church. The made mistakes estimating how the unit would fit. They made a mess of the install and got my house dirty. The unit has broken at least three times. The last time the condensation drain float was stuck because they configured the plumbing wrong on the drain. They repaired this and performed an overall service. The unit broke again while I was out of town. They took advantage of my wife not know the history and charged her $180 to fix a loose wire and said it was not covered under warranty because we need to keep up on our regular service. Had I been here I would have addressed this issue. The heater broke again recently and they could not come back out for over 48 hours. I called the manager and he did not call me back. I called again and they said he was in a meeting. The contractor that ultimately fixed my unit was the owner of a small family operation. He found a bad ground and another loose wire on a board that had been replaced during the last service performed by Church I had previously given this company a bad review. It took a few calls but they resolved my issues and hand delivered a refund and an apology. If it were not for Fred and Nicole resolving my issues I would not have updated this positing. I believe that they are committed to making things right.

They did the job when they said they would do it. The workers were courteous and professional. They finished the work in the schedule they stated and did everything that they promised. I also signed a service agreement with them and they come out a couple of times a year to check the system.

It went well. It was fine. They came very quickly. It was a reasonable charge, I guess. If you want a maintenance around here, use them because they are the ones you can radio all the time. They'll do anything, they do electrical work too.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They did fine. I didn't spend any additional. They did a great job and I would use them again.

They were great. I loved them. They were wonderful. The pricing was fabulous. They got me a good deal. They followed up with me. They were very professional and very timely. They even installed a temporary air conditioner until they could get my air conditioner. They did the same thing for my neighbor. I would absolutely use them again.

Everything went very smoothly and I was very pleased with all the aspects of how they handled it. They put on 4 things so they did give us a deal.

The service turned out great. They are wonderful people. What stood out was their trustworthiness. They did not try to sell me extra products and had no problem with me watching their work. They were very informative and helped me understand how not to have problems in the future. I now trust them implicitly.

My A/C compressor had died the previous evening, and after a hot and mostly sleepless night, I had called another company. They couldn't get someone to me in a timely manner, so at 2 in the afternoon, I called Strand Brothers. I called Strand on the advice of my sister in Tennessee, as she and her husband had used Strand exclusively while they lived in Austin, and had never had anything but exemplary service. I asked the dispatcher "How soon can you get a technician to me?" She replied between 3 and 5, and indeed, by 3:10 David was at my door, and had the problem diagnosed less than twenty minutes later. He told me they'd have to order the motor, so I'd be suffering another hot night, but that he'd pick it up in the morning and should have the unit up and running by noon the next day. He was very friendly, explaining my problem to me clearly, and I resigned myself to another unpleasant night. Less than an hour later he called me, telling me he'd found a motor courtesy of another Strand technician, and although he had to do another job before getting back to me, he'd be done in an hour or two, and would it be okay if he came and took care of the problem then? A little over an hour later, he was at the house, and in about thirty minutes the motor was replaced, the capacitor replaced, the unit cleaned out and the freon checked. My evening changed from 'almost too warm to sleep' to 'marvelously cool' and I have nothing but good things to say about Strand.

It went well. The technician arrived on time, took the time to show me and explained the condition of my equipment, and replaced my air filters. I signed up for the yearly maintenance program for Heating and AC.

Around 1 PM I noticed my AC had gone out. The fan was blowing in the house, but when I went outside, the outside fan was not running and the unit was making a buzzing noise. Temperature in the house was rising steadily. I was on the clock working (in my home office) at the time and didn't have a lot of time to research a new service provider after learning my old one had moved out of my area. I had heard this company advertised on the radio, checked out their website, BBB rating and some recent reviews and they sounded good so I called. They put me on the schedule for today between 3 and 7 pm. They called as promised 30 minutes before the technician came. Javier arrived about 3:45, introduced himself politely, shook hands, asked me the problem and went right to work. He diagnosed the problem as a blown capacitor which had shut off the compressor and fan. Installed a hard start kit, which allowed the compressor/fan to start up again and resume cooling. There was a slight problem with getting my thermostat to communicate with the unit but that was also taken care of. He also diagnosed that the compressor and fan motor were starting to fail, probably from age, and stated I should start planning to replace either/or both those parts and/or think about getting a new unit. He gave me estimates for the parts replacement and a ballpark figure on unit replacement together with other information about financing options and add'l. details. The technician answered all my questions and was very professional throughout. I liked that he took a picture of the damage on his phone to show me, and immediately emailed me a receipt with detailed explanation of the work, and estimates in writing. The charge was reasonable. I wrote a check and he was on his way before five o'clock. As of now, nearly an hour later, the unit is still running and the house is cooling off nicely. At this time, I'm very satisfied with the service and price, and plan to use this company again in future for any additional repairs that may be needed and eventually probably a new unit, though of course I hope that won't be for awhile..

Calvin is excellent ? he is my favorite Strand Brothers technician. He was on time, friendly and professional. He quickly set about his work and left all areas clean. I have the pre-paid annual maintenance plan that is reasonably priced and provides priority scheduling. Unlike many establishments, Strand Brothers ensures I use my pre-paid maintenance by sending reminders via mail, phone and email. I am thankful they remind me to service my equipment and take advantage of the maintenance plan. I am also appreciative that the technicians do not try to upsell me to other services and equipment.

Angie's List advertisement for this company said they would respond within 48 hours to perform service. Four days went by and no call or response to provide service. Called customer service and they were friendly but unaware of my order and unaware that they actually were part of Angie's List. The following day two service techs showed up to perform the inspection and service. They both were professional and knew what they were doing. The lead tech identified that my attic unit did not have a condensation sensor and float valve to prevent water damage so one was installed. All in all everything went fine. They also provide insulation service and as suspected they informed me that my attic was not properly insulated and could use additional insulation to reduce future energy costs. They asked if I would like to receive a phone call for a free quote increase insulation R value in the attic. The following day I received what seems to be a reasonable quote to add R22 insulation to my 3800 sq ft home for roughly $2800. Unfortunately the service techs were also unaware of Angie's List special pricing of $99 per unit service plan x 2 units = $198.00 which I had already paid through Angie's List. However, the service techs required payment of $230.00 for the normal service plan resulting in double payment for the service. After service techs left, I called customer service for resolution of paying twice. Customer service rep asked me to send them email copies from Angie's List to help resolve the conflict ASAP. I forwarded to them the payment confirmation emails from Angie's List and the great news is that they did resolve the following business day. Not sure why they were not aware of being part of Angie's List and of their special pricing but I suspect they do now.

It took about and hour and a half to complete the work. What stood out to me was how quickly they came out after I called them.

Due to no fault of the provider, I just found that I didn't need the Big Deal any more so I have contacted Angie's List in order to get a refund of the purchase.

I have used Strand Brothers several times in the past. They installed my HVAC and serviced it prior to the install. I have given them a lot of business. That said, I called them on Friday because I was moving into a new house and AC didn't seem to be working properly. I called Strand and they said they would be out between 5 and 8. I received a confirmation email stating they would be out at that time as well. I had to call them at 20 minutes till 8 and ask where they were. The operator told me that there were no guarantees that anybody would be out between 5 and 8 and they had no idea why anybody would tell me that. Needless to say, nobody was getting to me anytime soon. I asked for a call from the technician with an ETA, waited 20 minutes and heard nothing. I called again and cancelled service for Friday, and rescheduled for Saturday am. The operator I spoke with at that time DID guarantee that a technician would be out at that time because I actually scheduled an appointment in advance. I received a confirmation email shortly after. Saturday comes and 10am quickly approaches so I call AGAIN. I was told that I cancelled my request for service. I told them that was incorrect, and when they checked they said the appointment for the am was never made. I asked if they would at least wave the service fee if they came out again. (They charge a standard $99 to just come out and look at your system.) The operator checked with the manager who said they would only comp half the fee. I was furious at that point. They had me waiting over SIX hours, missed two appointments, and after years of business with me, they nickel and dime me. I told them they lost a customer and went a locally owned business that came out right away and charge a much better price.

They are very good at keeping up on their service. They are easy to get in touch with and show up on time. Everything with them is very good.
