After his "thorough" inspection of our duct work accompanied by a scope of work that I handed to him he determined that we needed to remove the air filter in our only return air grille and even though I told him I had a duct that was disconnected from one of my supply registers he said that was not the case. The second guy i had come out to bid the project not only found the disconnected duct without prompting but offered to fix it while he was up there at no cost to us. In my opinion this is a big outfit with not much attention to detail. We will not be using them.

They came out on a Sunday morning and fixed our AC. Prompt, good service. Affordable. Can't think of anything more we could ask for. Will use again.

Overall, it went great and was uneventful. No surprise charges.

The tech came out on time, was friendly, explained what was going on, did the work and left. We couldn't have been happier with how smooth everything went.

The service crews--initial repairman, project advisor, AC installers, duct work & insulation crew--were very professional and very pleasant (despite working in the attic in 103-degree temps), kept me informed throughout the process on exactly what they were doing and why it took so long. They accidently knocked off & bent an AC grate but fixed it on the spot. Whenever there was a task they couldn't finish, they informed me why and when it would be taken care of, and they followed up to make sure it was completed. Joe Trevino, the overall project advisor, kept in contact throughout the project to answer questions, check on the crews' progress, and to see if I was happy with the crews and the work. The crews were very proactive in keeping me informed--they never tried to hide a problem (e.g., bent grate) or issue and explained in layman's term to make sure I understood. It was hot, dirty, stinky work and the crews were so very nice and courteous, and they took great pains to clean up both inside and outside every single day they were on the job.

On a 100+ degree Saturday afternoon, our AC stopped cooling. I called Strand Brothers because of their excellent reviews here on Angie's List and the fact that they do emergency after-hours work (fearing the worst!). Faisal in their office was efficient and courteous about taking my information and estimated a 2-3 hour wait for service. Ivan, the technician assigned, called about 45 minutes later to say he was on his way. Ivan diagnosed the immediate issue within 10 minutes of arrival - a dead capacitor) and completed the repair and tested for restored function in about 20 minutes. While he was working, Ivan also gave this first-time homeowner some advice on general maintenance and replacement schedules for the AC and furnace. I was definitely afraid to hear that apparently the furnace should have been replaced about 15 years ago and that the AC unit is nearing the end of its useful life, but definitely appreciate the information! Added bonuses are the handheld computer (for cost estimates and parts lookup) and portable credit card processing unit Ivan carried. He had the payment processed and a detailed receipt printed for us in less than 2 minutes. I did not give a star rating for cost, as I have no idea what this type of service visit usually costs. The surcharge for weekend work was $57.00, which seems reasonable.

Since it was a Friday and in the 100s, we paid extra for an after hours call rather than wait until Monday. We also felt that it'd give them time to order parts, if needed. The serviceman came immediately after the last customer that day and check out the AC. Fortunately, it was only a capacitor that needed replacing! He was able to fix it in 30 minutes! The serviceman was quick, competent and professional. We will definitely call them again!

Pretty good. Very happy, they did give me a discount from a coupon. Easy to get a hold of.

They call before coming to give an update on expected time of arrival, always within a few minutes of when scheduled. They do a thorough check. No repairs have been needed.

I have a contract with them where they come twice a year to service my equipment. I have been using them for about two and a half years. They are very professional and answer my questions. They provide quality service and are customer oriented. They are very responsive and very punctual. They are very knowledgeable.

Well .. very well. Will be switching companies ... had enough of Strand Brothers, been with them for 6 years. Time for a change.

Excellent service. A full evaluation of our existing system was preformed. Air ducts were inspected.

I had purchased a plumbing maintenance package, which included an annual inspection, including tankless hot water heater service. The technician arrived on time and did a quick an efficeint inspection of our bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. He also cleaned out our tankless hot water heater. He was professional, friendly and knowledgable. He noted a few items that might need attention later.

Our A/C unit had been making a terrible noise and we were afraid to continue running it. I made several calls early in the morning, hoping to find someone who could come out that morning before the house became too hot. Christian Brothers was the only company that stated they could make it out that day. Although I was quoted an afternoon appointment, I was contacted and notified that they had someone available earlier, around 11 AM. Our serviceman had a few ideas about what was causing the noise that we had heard, but after opening the unit he was unable to determine what the cause of the noise had been (and the unit was no longer making the noise). We were given the option of replacing an expensive motor, but he was clear that he had no reason to believe that such a replacement was necessary, based on his inspection. He did advise that the unit was not cooling appropriately and he added coolant, which made a huge difference in the efficiency of its operation. He then offered some advice regarding the eventual replacement of the aging, 15-year-old A/C unit. Christian Brothers was honest, did not suggest needless repairs, and assured us that the service charge we paid could be applied to a follow-up repair if the problem returned and could be more accurately diagnosed. We were satisfied with the services rendered and would use Christian Brothers again.

I called and immediately got someone on the phone who scheduled a two hour block where a person would come the next day. I told them I needed the recirculation line blown out since it was leaking. They refused to quote me a price even though they have clearly defined prices for that service; it was eventually $150 and that was with the Angies list coupon which seems high for what they did. The guy arrived at the end of the two hour window but I appreciate that he did call and say he was on his way. He blew out the line and replaced everything but the hose from the drain pan leaked later cause the hose clamp had not been tightened. When I went in to tighen the hose clamp myself I noticed that there was a gap in some paneling causing some of my AC to blow into the wall and lots of exposed wires that seem dangerous. Overall he was nice and did what he came out to do but I really think an 'A' company would have been more conscientious.

His workmanship was first class. He did everything he said that he was going to do. The system has been working efficiently.

They were very helpful. They came out quickly after their working hours. They came and fixed it by the end of the day next day which is good. Their turnaround time was pretty good. The technician was very helpful. He did not try selling me anything. He was very honest about what he was going to do. I also got a couple of follow up calls from their manager to make sure that everything was fine. I really appreciated that.

Very well. They actually performed the service while we were out of town and had house sitters, but it all went well. They came back to do the energy audit testing, and performed some additional duct sealing when the original efficiency goals weren't yet met. They worked with us to get our city, utility, and tax rebates. Very nice and professional technicians. Went the extra mile to be sure we were satisfied. They also gave us advice on the air conditioner that another company had installed. Basically told us we had been oversold a bigger air conditioner than necessary. We were glad to learn this. Would definitely use again.

I, have used Strand Brothers for the past three years to do my annual service, every time they have done my service they have said something needed to be replaced or repaired, my last annual service cost an additional $265.00 for a part. The service man said that I, should consider replacing one of my four units as the house is approximately 15 years old but in reality the other three units are the same age so I, might consider replacing the entire system. He said he could have someone come out and give me an estimate.This sounded resonable so I, told him to go ahead and schedule. To make a long story short the estimate was for $42,000. I, found another company on Angie's list that came out and gave me an estimate for replacing the four units with 20 Seer High Efficiency units, the same as I, was quoted by Strand Brothers, I, gave both companies the same instructions, I, wanted the best equipment available! The difference came out to be $42,000 vs $24,000. Just to make sure I, wasn't missing something I, faxed both estimates to my Nephew in Illinois who is in the Heating and Air Conditioning business. He told me that Strand Brothers is quoteing triple the installation cost as the second company. He said I, would be nuts to have them do the installation. I, have to wonder what someone who doesn't have a source to go to would pay or has paid. If it was my Mother in the commercials I, would be ashamed!

My AC coil was leaking and the outside unit was too far gone to be replaced. Their technician was prompt and helpful, offering options to save money down the road. Later that day, Tom Strand came out and worked with me to find an affordable way to replace the outside unit. He definitely went above and beyond the call of duty for me to find a cost effective solution, and I am very grateful. I will go out of my way to recommend this company.

I don’t remember the price that we paid but I think they were reasonable. We got other bids as well but we chose to go with these guys. We didn’t have any complaints. They did really well. We were impressed of how they took care of all the permitting to get all the rebates that we were eligible for. The inspector that had to come out and it was just really effortless for us. I would use their services again in the future.

Mr. John Solis came out to our office for the estimate and was so helpful. He was honest, kind and very informative. Because our system is new and still under warranty, he recommended that we call the company that installed the system, because if he had worked on it, the warranty with the other company would have been voided. After inspecting our system, he still took the time to make recommendations for the other company to consider. He didn't make me feel rushed, which made his visit even more pleasant. Great worker and right on time. I would recommend Strand Brother's just because they hire such great employees.

I had been using Strand Brothers A/C for many years. We have a 3300 sq ft house with 2 HVAC systems. Two years ago Strand did a changeout of one of the HVAC systems and did a good job all-around. Now that the other HVAC died, it was a simple matter--just get Strand to do it. This other HVAC serves a 2-story portion of my house and Strand wanted to keep the upstairs cool with a 3rd unit called a Mr. Slim(?) that hung on the wall with an outside condenser. Up and downstairs units would cost around $13000 (2 separate units, 1 downstairs, 1 upstairs). I didn't like the idea of 3 HVACs!! Somehow, years ago, I had heard about Christian Brothers and called them up. Adam came out and gave us a lot of his time, exploring a lot of different options. He was young fellow but very knowledgeable. To serve both up and downstairs one of his proposals was a 2-zone system where both levels are independently served, each with their own thermostat, using a high-end Bryant costing $10700 after rebates. Now I know the brand of the equipment is less important than quality of the installation. I tell everyone my story of 20 years ago having Airco installing the HVAC and they did a horrible installation and with lots of problems for years afterward. (Never use Airco, at least for residential!) So, I was glad that system finally bit the dust. I gave the job to Christian Brothers and glad I did. These guys are great. The installation is a work of art with how they designed the plenums, added additional return air capacity, vacuumed afterward to where our house looked cleaner than before, punctual and courteous (Mark and Julio spent 2.5 days doing the installation--fitting everything in our small attic), the upstairs never had the airflow as it has now. Then, the final grand prize--it's awesomely quient!! Adam & Mark said told me it would be quiet but it's unbelievably quiet--you can barely hear it. Also, they explained the 2-zone system should give extra savings when the upstairs is unoccupied (keep that thermostat set so that the upstairs zone isn't cooled or heated as much, saving $$$$). Bottom line: higher upfront cost, lower utility bills, overall more comfortable up and downstairs, awesomely quiet. With this Bryant you can set the humidity level, one setting for summer, another for winter. We've found that cooling the house at 78 degrees at low humidity is as comfortable as the 76 setting we had been using with our old setting. Folks, this Bryant is their cadillac system and I'm sold on it. And the superb installation by Christian Brothers--the most important part--a fantastic combination!

The customer service provided by Christian Brothers Air Conditioning was good. The people that came out were courteous. There were no hidden charges. I would use them again in the future.
