On 6/1/10 our dryer would not start, so we contacted AMI services. A technician called back and I mentioned that the internet had stated the possible problem was the door switch. He agreed and ordered the part. He came out on 6/3/10 and stated that it was not the door switch, but the starter switch was bad and would order on 6/4/10. On 6/7/10 we found out the part had not been ordered and they should have by the by the 8th. There technician called and gave a time he would be there. He never showed up and when my wife called their services center was told that our part had not showed up yet. A technician finally showed up on 6/9/10, and then stated it wasn't the switch, but was a thermal fuse, and they would have to order it. On 6/11/10 I was told that a technician would be there between 12 - 1 pm. The technician never showed up. This company is not reliable.
Description of Work: Dryer would not start. Originally door switch, then starter switch, and finally thermal fuse.

Response from Ami Service
The customer has done a good job pointing out the dates we were back and forth, in which he was only charged for the initial repair. This particular dryer was a 15+ yr old unit in which he wanted us to diagnosis over the phone to save cost of trip fee, we explained we have a well stocked service vehicle and the only concern was the age. However it was later revealed to our technician that there had been an electrical surge in this rural area and caused damage to many appliances including electronics, the original door switch was burnt in two and the appliance had suffered additional damages due to the surge in which we found out through a process of elimination and little insight to the original problem which the customer failed to explain in the beginning in fear of a higher bill I suppose. As for the scheduling issues, we were dealing between his and his wife's busy and changing schedules to accommodate them...not our technician who is in that particular area all day everyday. This customer was only charged for the faulty door switch, and we took care of the burnt out element and thermal fuse at no charge due to his inability to understand all that was involved in trying to go above and beyond. We regret the unfortunate circumstances surrounding this particular call, however we do our best to take a conservative approach in all we do, in our effort to save the customer from spending more than the appliance may actually be worth. Sincerely, John Mulkey / AMI Services
