For years they changed my filters and charged me multiple times what I now pay to buy my own. For example, they charged me $57 for a $6 filter. The reason I "allowed" this to happen is that we're busy people and contracted out work that we could have done, yes, but I might have even been happy to pay it if the owner didn't lie to me. He claimed the filters were the best kind (pleated) and hard to get because all my intake vents were of various sizes. Finally I took the time to do a bit of research and discovered he was using the cheapest filters in my home and was charging me an exorbitant price. Now I question all the work he's recommended over the years.. work that cost me tens of thousands that are now in his pocket. Learned a hard lesson. Always be in charge and get a second opinion. We also found out after we fired him that he told a friend of ours that it would cost over a thousand dollars to fix her AC. She got a second opinion and it was fixed for under a hundred.
