City Tree Service

I had them prune a large Oak tree. A few people came out to prune. I had no problem scheduling the deal. They did a nice job cleaning up after the service. The crew was very efficient and competent. They obviously knew what they were doing.

The service went fine. I had the staff trim some trees. Three technicians came out and completed the service in an afternoon. They did a good job with the clean up afterwards. They were very courteous and professional. I had no problem scheduling the deal.

That turned out great. They came out and trimmed a lot of the trees in my yard. My yard was so clean when they left and that is what really stuck out to me. They were careful that they got everything on their truck for me. Two employees came out in the beginning and at one point there were 4 of them. I wished I could give them an A+.

I will definitely use City Tree Service again in the future. This was also the first time I used Angie's List and, of course, I am very pleased with the results.

It went very well and they explained each step of the process they were doing. We were having an event at our house and they were able to do this work on pretty short notice (about 4 days). Would definitely use them again.

The owner and his wife came along with their crew. The wife was wonderful and attentive. The crew did good work and quickly. The wife was very helpful and made sure I was happy with the work.

They did a good job. The only complaint I would have is that they could have done a better job removing trimmings especially the trimmings from the rise bushes.

They did a lot of trimming around a over our pool. One tree, I think, was cut too much. One branch landed on patio roof, but only slight damage to gutter. Lot's of debris into pool (they didn't clean pool filter or vacuum pool as they said they would). No sealant was added to tree in locations where large branches were removed They said the sealant wasn't needed, but I'm concerned because everyone else says the sealant should have been applied. But, they were very safe and efficient. Excellent work by the people who climbed and cut the tops of the trees ( several approx 50 feet tall). I asked them to leave the large branches so I could use them for firewood. They cut the branches into burning size logs without my requesting. Very nice!

I would recommend this company for sure for any tree trimming/ removal service. They did a good job on removal and cleaning after and hauling away all the branches and trash.

We purchased a coupon for part of the job and requested some additional work which cost quite a bit. The coupon made the overall transaction fair but I probably wouldn't use them without an Angie's list coupon.

First time I met the owner, he seemed very knowledgeable in trees and pruning. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the actual service or price. Guys climbed all over the roof without warning me, a bird's nest was left on my porch with baby birds in it. Nobody bothered telling me a branch with a bird's nest was cut down. I discovered it when I went out on to the porch and saw baby birds trying to climb out of the destroyed nest. I called the owners and they came over. I live on 1/4 of an acre and the cost of trimming my trees was over $1000.00.

Oak trees in San Antonio are very susceptible to oak wilt which is spread to open bark wounds by not painting over the "nickle to quarter" size removed branches on tree limbs. This company did not use a ladder to check for higher places that needed painting over the cuts in my forty year old, mature, Spanish Oak tree. I asked them about it and they assured me that they could see all the wounds from the ground into a fifty foot high by fifty foot round canopy tree, ALL FROM BELOW. When I could get up on my six foot ladder, I found spots on the tops of lower limbs that could not be seen from the ground that needed "painting." |They also injured the tree with their chain saw blades at many places where they cut the tree limbs off. They seemed to be in a race to get my project done. They told me to call them back if I found places they had missed painting wounds. I did find other wound places but their paint treatment had already started to fade where they had painted over the other wounds so I did not call them back. There are tree limbs crossing over tree limbs on my tree that they did not trim back. Very nice family but not very professional at least at my house. They did cut off at ground level two trees/bushes underneath my eaves. They cleaned up well.

Trimmed all trees on property, gave advice about future tree removal. Very thorough & professional. Cleaned up trimmings so yard was very tidy. They were AWESOME!

I have a relatively large yard with quite a few trees. The previous owners did not properly maintain the trees. Having had a previous bad experience with a tree trimmer I have been cautious about hiring services. Fortunately, City Tree Service had a special offer on Angie's List for 8 hrs of tree trimming services (crew size 3) at a great price. City Tree Service just finished up the 8 hr day, and I could not be more pleased with the job performed, including the clean up. In fact, I was so pleased, I have made arrangements for them to come back to do additional work. City Tree Service did a great job at a fair price.

Jason arrived at time scheduled (on a Saturday, no less!), found out what I wanted done and he and his crew immediately went to work. They took out 2 dead palm trees in a tight space beside a swimming pool and cleaned up everything leaving it all looking great. They trimmed a huge oak tree in the front yard that was rubbing on the house leaving it looking good also. Even told me I had a few shingles missing and I might want to have the roof checked. Work completed in a timely fashion and all cleanup was excellent. I paid $199 for $400 worth of tree work performed and expected to pay more for all the work done but Jason would not accept any additional money. It was a great value for the money paid. I highly recommend Jason Grube and City Tree Service.

It was fine. They did a good job. They were very thorough and very helpful. I arranged with them when they arrived to basically see how far that would go but once they had a chance to take a look at the job and give me an estimate because they had not seen anything prior to that, they were very generous and they said, "Well, we will just go ahead and do whatever we have to do." And I think that I agreed that if they needed to do more than the $199 worth then I would pay the difference because it was more important to get the job done well but they did not charge me anything more than what they had advertised in the big deal. There was a period of very heavy rain down there in San Antonio and we had set a date but we had to postpone it because of the amount of rain. That was happening for about a week and a half or so and I cannot remember exactly when I had it done. It was an excellent experience. They did more than I had actually expected or hoped for and then they did a tremendously good cleanup afterwards. They loaded everything up on a trailer and hauled it all away. That was perfect as far as I was concerned. They probably did $400 worth of work on a regular estimate. The quality of the work was fine and their responsiveness was very good. Their professionalism was also fine. I would probably use them again in the future if I had more trees but I do not have any more trees.

Provider performed purchased services and hauled away the trimmed branches. Unfortunately, the provider did not describe exactly what "$400 worth of tree trimming services" entails. When the provider arrived on-site, I learned that $400 of tree trimming services equals trimming about 3 trees. The service provider trimmed the trees on either side of my drive. The service that was performed was done very well, but it would have been nice to know exactly what I was purchasing - I expected to have most of the trees on my property trimmed, and was a bit shocked when the fellow told me it would cost $10,000 to do so. I have since purchased a chainsaw attachment for my weedeater and will perform all future work myself. I guess it pays to research before purchasing these type of deals.

Jason called me a couple of days after I had purchased an Angie's List deal for a full day of tree service. We scheduled the appointment for the day after New Years. He said he would arrive before 10AM, and was at our house by 9:30. We went over everything I wanted done, and he advised taking down one of our trees which, in spite of still producing foliage, was rotting in many places and infected with mistletoe. I really had no idea how long everything would take, so I had purchased a full day of service. It ended up taking them about 6 hours to do everything I needed and clean up afterwards. They are very thorough and meticulous, giving the trees a good shape. We had a lot of lower branches cleared for more of a canopy look, and it is now much brighter in the house. The trees which were beginning to encroach on the house were trimmed so as to provide more upward growth patterns. I pretty much gave Jason carte blanche to do whatever he felt needed to be done. I have to say the front and sides of the house have been completely transformed. Jason and his crew (three total) worked straight through from 9:30 until 3:30. Prior to their departure, Jason did a walk-through with us to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. He said we still had two hours of service available, and since he was finished with everything we needed done, we'll use the credit on a future job. They were very thorough in cleaning up afterward, and the area was actually cleaner than when they arrived. This is the first time I've used a tree service, having done trimming myself in the past. They are definitely better at it than I am. I would rate this a very positive experience, and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

They did a very good job once we got it scheduled. I think they just overextended themselves initially in trying to get everything scheduled and taken care of. They were very good people and they mean well. It's just a small company and they just probably overextended themselves a little bit but did a really good job. I would probably not use them again unfortunately.

It was a pretty negative experience. They came over, gave me a quote, but when the person came back to do the job it was as if he had forgotten what job he had quoted. He did not do the job the way I asked and wanted to charge a different price. He was real slow in coming back to finish the job

That was fine. I've got my money's worth out of that. They did a good job and they cut everything, but the one thing that the head guy a couple of times was referring to, saying: "This was a coupon, right?" It's probably not a big of a deal, but I though what if it wasn't a coupon?
