He did a good job. He was my choice, as he had previously did a change in my electrical box a year ago.He was very responsive, he was known to the inspection department and that makes it easier for me.

The reason I did that is because they put in the units for the prior owner so I just kept the continuity. They come out twice a year and check out your unit to make sure that things are going right and that included 12 air filters. I think I was impressed with the amount of time that they spent really going over the detail. I have an air conditioning unit that's on the rooftop so he had to spend quite a bit of time checking the unit out for me from the attic.

They didn't show for the appointment and when I called I finally got ahold of the receptionist and I guess there had been some confusion. She did send them out later that day. They did arrive on time for that second appt. Everything went fine and I was pleased with their service.

AC went out unexpectedly. I called Long about 11:30, call was answered promptly, was told a technician would be there about 1:30. About 1:30 the technician arrived, looked at the unit and said it would need to be replaced, he looked at the unit, it was too old to have any warranties. He called and had an estimate, $3600.00 for a new unit, installed. I did the math, and had that unit installed about 1998 so yes, it was past due to be replaced. We okayed the install. He said he needed to go back to the shop and get the unit and some help. Returned about thirty minutes later with two other guys. The unit was installed within a few hours, works like a charm. Price was exactly as he estimated. Would use again.

Swell. Always happy with their service. They also called me back with a price for a whole-house surge protector (about $300 installed), but I'm still thinking about that.

I called to see about having someone come out and the person on the phone was very polite and helpful. we agreed on a time that was convenient for me and scheduled the work. He showed up when he said he would, found the offending outlet quickly, explained to me what the problem was and what he had done to correct it. the whole process took less than an hour. I had another question a few days later and they came back out to review the work and answer my questions at no additional charge. everyone i dealt with was very friendly and helpful.

The service tech called when on his way to the house. He evaluated the noted problem and discussed the cost in advance of the work. He pulled the evaporator coil and took it to his shop for cleaning. Also, while out picked up new breakers to correct the electrical problem. When he return he re-installed the coil, refilled the refrigerant, fixed the breakers, and tested the system. The job was completed timely, approximately 3 hours total period. He was very professional and cleaned up the work area before leaving.

When I called they got me set up with an appointment right away. The gentleman arrived on time and got right to work. Didn't try to talk me into a new unit even though mine is over 20 years old. Didn't need freon as expected but found a part that was going out. He left to get the part and as back in just a few minutes. Re-checked the bad part before replacing it and even checked the new part to make sure it was at the correct level. I will use Long Electric and AC again when the time comes.

I called Long to have freon added. The technician arrived on time, was very courteous and the price was about the same as what I paid another company to add freon last year. He was at my house maybe half an hour.

I asked to have an estimate on a new system, and the technician said he would turn my current system info in to his boss, who would then call me the next day with a quote. After a couple of weeks when I hadn't heard from anyone, I sent them an email and was told they would get in touch with me the following business day. Never did hear back. Maybe they have all the business they need.
That's why I gave them and overall B.

I'd still use them again for any service needs though.

Called Long after another HVAC firm diagnosed my problem as electrical and not to do with the outside AC unit that wasn't running. Called in the evening after hours and told them I was willing to pay overtime charge if they could fix my problem that evening. I was able to describe the breaker over the phone to the technician to see if he had one in stock (old breaker box -- not something they would normally carry). The technician was able to find what I needed. Turns out the old breaker wasn't even the right size, but the guy knew enough to anticipate that and bring the right part. Very knowledgable, prompt, efficient. Old AC ran for the rest of the summer with no problems.

I had used Long Electric in the past for electrical work and for maintenance on my HVAC system. I have lived in the same house for 29 years so over the years, I had them replace the furnace and outside ac condenser before. I contacted them to give me a quote to replace the evaporator in the attic. The evaporator was approximately 44 years old. Because of the way that the HVAC unit had originally been installed in the attic, they told me they would have to relocate the entire furnace in order to get access to the evaporator coil. Their quote was approximately 75% just for labor to relocate the furnace. Because of the cost, I got multiple quotes to do the same repair. One quote was about the same. Another company said that the cost to just patch an old system was so high, they refused to even repair the unit. Because of the cost for repairs and the qualification to $1500 in energy tax credits, I decided to replace the entire HVAC unit. When I had replaced the outside ac condenser in the past, I had always wanted to upgrade the size of the unit from 3 tons to 5 tons; however, my air mover was not large enough for the extra capacity and had always been a restriction which prevented increasing the size, so I decided to replace everything down to the rafters in the attic. I wrote a typed detailed description of exactly what I wanted including efficiencies, some specific details that I wanted on the installation and how I wanted the quotation broken out. Long Electric was the first company to respond and other than one detail in how I wanted the quote broken down, they met my specifications. I was concerned about their rating on Angie's list so I made sure to get quotations from highly rated competitors. Remember, I had a detailed typed description of exactly what I wanted. What I got from the other companies was what they wanted to sell me and not what I was asking for. Because of the cost, my wife wanted to go with one of the A rated companies; however, their quote was $3500 higher and their quote didn't answer any of the detailed questions in my specification. They gave me a three line quote. Since my wife wanted to use the competitor because of the higher rating, I kept going back to them to improve the details in their quote. After 3 weeks, they still hadn't answered half of my questions, but I did have enough information to know that they were quoting the builder's grade brand of the same system that Long Electric was quoting whereas Long was quoting the name brand. Long was also quoting one grade higher efficiency. Long was also saying that they would do the work in 2 days where their competitors said they needed 3 days. Long was offering me more and better for a lot less money and less time with out ac in the summer. The large cost difference made me a little bit leery, but I had used Long several times in the past for electrical work and was always very pleased with their work. I gave Long the order. They showed up when they said they would. They spread drop cloths all over the carpet and always used disposable paper booties when the entered the house. They vacuumed the attic repeatedly to minimize any debris. They worked inside the house until about 7:00 PM the first day, but they worked outside on the ac condenser until about 10:00 PM. They showed up on time the next day. They finished about 4:00 PM the afternoon of the second day. Remember, the other quotes wanted 3 days. Everything in the attic was vacuumed and clean. I had boards in the attic to give me access and they had moved my flooring boards to improve my access to the relocated filter for easier maintenance. When they removed their drop cloths, they hadn't left even a splinter on the floor all the way from the front door to the up-stair attic. They called the next day and asked how the system was working and if we had any questions. When my wife told them that water was coming out of the secondary evaporator pan drain versus the primary pan drain, they came over that afternoon to check out what the problem was. The problem was due to air flow from my power attic fans causing a strong breeze across the pan which was pushing water up against the secondary drain. The problem wasn't from anything that they had done, but they still went ahead and installed a sheet metal baffle to keep the attic fan from blowing down on the evaporator pan and made sure that the drain was working properly. I think that regardless of what company you go with, the quality of the job you get is a function of the individual that does the work. I was exceptionally pleased with the overall experience and would not hesitate to use them again.

They installed the thermostat before I could even blink. No estimate; I didn't even give him the go ahead. Young, eager, obviously commissioned guy.
Response from Long Electric
"We work manly in the Irving, Grand Prairie and Vally Ranch area and seldom in Fort Worth. I can not find a record of working for you, although that does not mean we haven't. There has been an instance where someone doing work in Fort Worth is using my name and a fake invoice. If you could contact me I would like to get this straitened out, I don't think it was our company that you were dealing with. Thank You Tommie Long"
