Sales process was very similar to a used car trade...just a bunch of numbers chicken-scratched on a piece of paper. All sorts of different pricing and promotions, and if you hold out long enough, the sales person will tell you about more promo's that have expired but they can use "just for you." If you continue to hold out, they'll start cutting into their commissions b/c of some sales contest. The salesman tried to give me tax fraud advice like suggesting I submit the total amount of the insulation/radiant barrier to the IRS for the energy tax credit (instead of just the materials portion). Nice. Install was fine other than the metallic paint on my furniture (it was all over a cord that rubbed up against my bed frame). Workers were quick once on site, but were about 40 min past the end of the time slot. Although with the 3-5p time period that's somewhat expected that they'll be running behind, so not that big of a deal. Like a few other reviewers noted, I got a few more inches of insulation than I ordered/paid for, so that was nice.

I chose them primarily because they had good ratings on Angie's List. The store I was going to go with contracted with them as well. They responded to my request quickly. The other company didn't for almost 2 weeks. The price was pretty good. I compared them, and they were within a few dollars of everyone else on the list. I think the quality was good. Their responsiveness and punctuality was very good. The only problem that I had was with the sales guy. I think he mislead me. He sold it as a tax deduction. He said that they would send me a document to certify their work. They didn't put in as much insulation as they said they would. I called them, and they haven't called back. At this point I am very leary about the company. I haven't had a chance to follow up with them about these things.

The EAS staff was prompt and did a good job in a very short amount of time. It's hard to address the claims of the radiant barrier's impact on our utility costs, as there are so many factors that vary from year to year. But we were very satisfied with the EAS process.
Description of Work: We had EAS add a radiant barrier in our attic in late June. The EAS sales rep gave us several options, but did not give us the "hard sell" on the maximum package when we said we just wanted the radiant barrier. As part of a seasonal promotion the price was discounted and also included a moderate amount of insulation at no extra charge.

These guys are pros. They had one of their folks meet me the day after I called. We met on a Saturday at noon. Professional, friendly, well-spoken, good energy -- the whole package. We scheduled the service for the following Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. The guys arrived at 7:50 a.m. and were done by 10:15. Left everything in perfect order.

The initial job was bad. There were many spots not covered. The baffles were removed but not sprayed. I did not know how bad the job was until an inspector from another company pointed that out to me a year later. The second EAS inspector came and was shocked at the work done. He recommended immediate response. The second crew came and were also shocked at the worked done. They did an excellent job spraying the underside of the attic.

A roofing crew installed vents. I asked if the metal flashing and sides could be painted to look less obvious, but was told they did not do that. I will have it done by a handyman. I discussed various vent options before deciding on this type. They are quite expensive considering what they are.

When they were installing the insulation a wire was disconnected. I had to call my alarm company to reconnect the wire, which EFFICIENT ATTIC SYSTEMS paid for. However when the gentleman from the alarm company was in the attic; he noted that the insulation was not spread out in the attic. This prompted me to call EFFICIENT ATTIC SYSTEMS, to finish the job. I would not have been aware of this problem if the alarm company did not tell me that insulation was not spread out. I rescheduled an appointment, which was cancelled by EFFICIENT ATTIC SYSTEMS because their employees did not show up to work. Now I am waiting for the assistant manager to call me.

The appointment was scheduled within 2 days of my call. Rep arrived right on time (15 min early) and after inspecting the attic and the outside of the house, proceeded to go through and explain the services that EAS has to offer and recommended the radiant barrier and insulation was "free". No additional ventilation was recommended. Rep did not pressure me to purchase on the spot. Once I called EAS the installation was scheduled within two days. A three man crew arrived within the two hour window that I was given. They explained what they would be doing. They were very professional and courteous. They had me inspect the work in stages as each attic section was completed. They took about three hours to complete work. They vacuumed the area affected.and cleaned up well.

I didn't hear the phone ring when they called 15 minutes before the job was supposed to start. I got caught in the office and when I got home to let them in they had been waiting 45 minutes. They were very gracious about it and proceeded to do the job in about two hours. The attic is already MUCH cooler. They added alot more extra insulation than they quoted me for!!

I called the 800 number and received a ballpark estimate and the salesman came out a couple of days later and gave me a detailed estimate. The installation was done a couple of days after that. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and professional. The salesman explained exactly how he came up with the cost and answered all questions. I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything I didn’t want. I asked about adding additional ventilation but was told what I had was fine. He even filled out the paperwork so I could apply for the TXU rebate. There were two installers on my job and they did a great job of explaining what they were going to do and cleaning up after themselves when the installation was complete. The installation was performed in June and it was already hot in the attic when they started the job--I don't know how they stood the heat--but they were very professional and thorough.
Description of Work: Installed radiant barrier (approx 2000 sq ft) and added to existing insulation. They were running the half off of the cost of the barrier with 5 inches of insulation for free offer, which is what I bought.

After suffering for yrs in this Texas heat we decided to do something about our insulation. Our house in Allen is very shaded with trees on a creek lot and has low ceilings so we thought we would be sitting pretty after moving from Coppell. Our ceilings were sky high and we had no trees. But our house in Allen has the master bedroom over an unheated/cooled garage that faces west. In the summer, it would be so bizzare that the master bedroom would be 10 sometimes 15 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. I walk to the back of the house where the trees were, nice and cold. We looked in the attic and saw the problems. No moving turbines..it must have gotten up to 140 plus degrees up there in the summer. No insulation on the walls. About 9 inches of blown insulation on the floors. Standard builder insulation. EAS came out with a proposal and pricing that was great. If you have the money to do insulation now because of the economy and credit crisis you may snag a good deal. After we decided purchase the services from EAS they came out very quickly. 3 men were in and out in about an hour. Very clean and organized. Then they installed an industrial sized thermo turbine in the middle of the roof (equivalent to 3 wind turbines..it turns on when the attic hits 100 degrees and yes it makes a little bit of noise..so opt out if you think this will bother you..it is not whisper quiet) and one wind turbine over the master bedroom. One guy went over a checklist with us of everything they did and I signed off. We looked in out attic to see a major transformation. The radiant barrier was sprayed everywhere..looks like the tin man up there and the blown insulation is 9 inches higher. The turbines suck the air out now, I can't believe how much cooler the attic is. It is amazing. The house is now balanced temperature wise. We measured the temp in the master bedroom compared to other rooms and they were level. (One note..my husband, installed rolled batting insulation on the garage doors below to see if that would help our problem before EAS came and it did help some). We are very thrilled with the work, my husband especially (and he's cheap..and hard to please) I was reluctant to list pricing with square footage of my home because pricing will most likely change with the economy.
Description of Work: Our attic required additional blown in insulation, radiant barrier spray and 2 turbines.

The sales presentation was very professional and informative. I understood the purpose of the different products by the time the man left. I called several weeks later to arrange for install, and the people on the phone were friendly and courteous. The installers arrived on time on install day. The work was noisy, but only took less than an hour. The vents were placed in the agreed upon size, quantity and locations. After they left I discovered that the sawing left a mess on the window sills and porches that the men didn't clean up. I should have inspected before they left, and will next time.

One fellow came out and gave me the estimate which was very reasonable, especially for the radiant barrier application. The work crew was composed of two experienced insulators and one rookie. They did not hesitate to go into the tightest areas of my attic. They were very nice, cleaned up after themselves. They let me count the empty insulation bags and were happy to do so. These guys were very, very good.
Description of Work: Put in radiant barrier spray over 1497 square feet in the attic. Also put in 21 baffles that help air circulation. Also put in up to r-19 fiber glass (loose) throughout the attic, with special emphasis on some very hard places to reach in my high pitched roof.

My work was completed in two different jobs at my request. The changes they made have cut my electric bill in half. It was very easy to work with the company. Overall, I have had a very good experience with them."
Description of Work: Sprayed a radiant barrier on the attic ceiling and added several inches of insullation in the attic. The estimator Dennis arrived promptly and after reviewing the situation gave me an itemized quote. I also got quotes from 2 other companies. EAS might have been a little higher, but I liked the fact that they are one of the contractor's used by Home Depot (which enabled me to use my H.D. charge card with no payments and interest for 1-year). I told Dennis I might not be ready to make a decision by his 2/15/09 deadline (10-days) because I wanted to have some electrical work done in the attic before installing the insulation. I did not want to disturb the insulation if I could avoid it and I am glad I waited. I called Dennis a few days after his deadline and we got the work scheduled about 1-week out. They also informed me that the soffit vents may be installed before or after the insulation and that I would not even need to be here since they are installed from the outside. The office told me the crew would be here between 8-10am on Monday and they arrived promptly at 8am. I showed the 3-man crew the two attic access points and pointed out a few of my concerns. They wanted to use the access stairs through the garage and began the process. While they were readying the truck and hose, one of the crew installed the baffles and also installed an insulated attic access cover over the attic stairway. After installation, they discovered the cover was interfering with the stair and had to remove the cover which was removed from my price. The crew was finished by 10 AM. They cleaned up very well after themselves. The soffit vent installer arrived that afternoon and only took about an hour to complete his work. My only concern was the vibration caused by the reciprocating saw as he cut through the plywood soffits. You could almost feel the vibrations in the house. I was concerned about it causing the freshly blown insulation to settle a bit.
Description of Work: Add additional R-30 insulation (about 12 inches) to my existing attic insulation in a 2800 square foot attic. Install 21 baffles and 13 soffit vents. Install attic access vent cover (deleted due to size limitation of older stair mechanism).

Was disappointed in this experience because he arrived, spent 5 minutes in our attic and then spent the next 30 minutes trying to hard sell me his product/services. I didn't feel like he was interested in listening to our needs or giving us options but, he wanted to close the deal there and then. I selected another company because I don't appreciate this 'hard sell approach' and prefer someone to take the time to listen to their customer's needs.
