ARS / Rescue Rooter Dallas

Rescue Rooter offered a free estimate with no service call. Estimate was $100 to snake the toilet, the clean out, and remove the clog. Serviceman ran the drain from clean out back to house and determined the clog was just below the toilet, but in the bend of a pipe. Issue was resolved in less than 30 minutes. Great work and fast response on a Sunday!

Called American Home Shield (AHS) warranty regarding my heat pump system. They sent ARS/Rescue Rooter tech to check my system. Technician arrived promptly and tested temperature at outlets and checked the system. He found nothing wrong; it is just old and inefficient. Afterwards, he advised me about HVAC systems his company offered outside of the AHS warranty (these home warranties are pretty useless for replacing the entire systems). In general, the service was fine and I have no complaints other than the $60 fee charged by AHS to tell me everything worked ok. He seemed knowledgeable enough and I would probably call again if I needed an estimate for significant work (although I would get other estimates and compare).

Service man was not honest and want me to pay some cash to him. I wish I had few estimates from different company. I feel very bad afterward because the service person's bad ethic. And feel I paid too much;

Showed up SEVEN HOURS LATE. Did not have filter- none. Were here less than five minutes to do system check. Inspection was pre-paid

Usually, they are prompt and they show up on time. They claim that if they are late, then they’ll pay you. They do a good job as anybody else as far as plumbing is concerned. That is why I called them again. They always give an estimate before they start the work. So, you have a choice to either accept it or decline it. Their price is probably a little high, but I don’t keep up with the ongoing rates in the plumbing business. So, I can’t compare their prices with that of the others. I haven’t had any problems since I’ve used them. The team from ARS Rescue Rooter did a satisfactory job.

I think that they are overpriced so I am looking around for someone new. Their service is adequate but I wasn't impressed with their pricing.

They are very professional, respond very quickly whenever I need them and come over within 24 hours. They are also available on weekends. They let me know about the services that they provide and never promise something that they can’t do.

The plumber arrived at my home on time to give me an estimate on the repairs noted above. First he explained that there could be problems that would require pumping water out from under my house before repairs could be made. He said it would cost me $155 for him to crawl under my house just to give me the estimate. It seemed high for an estimate but he explained that the estimate would be deducted if I decided to have the work done. I guess I was feeling desperate. I needed the repairs done and I did call them and so I agreed to the $155 estimate. Nobody held a gun to my head, I could have refused and called another plumber. I should have... So after the plumber does the inspection he calls the home office and gives me the price. Sounds really high to me. Granted, I'm not a plumber or a mathematician but it sounds like a ridiculous price based on the material cost and time estimate. I told the plumber that I would pay him the $155 for the estimate and that I wanted to get a second opinion. He calls the home office again and proceeds to pass his cell phone back and forth between him and me. Very unprofessional... The guy on the phone from the home office asks me how much I had in mind and that maybe he could call his boss and get authority to reduce the price a bit (sound familiar?). That only tells me that he could have given a better estimate from the start and that he was fishing to see how much I would be willing to pay. He makes excuses and tries to keep me on the hook but I'm done. I pay them the $155 to get out of my house. I called another plumber (this time from Angie's List) for a second estimate. They charge $59 for the service call and estimate. They show up on time and with an estimate 1/3 less than ARS. So even after I pay ARS $155 for the estimate and the second plumber to complete the job I'm still $200 ahead of the ARS estimate. Live and learn I guess. I will trust my instincts more in the future. I have used ARS for about six years and spent several thousand dollars over the course of time on various plumbing repairs. I have no issues with the quality of their work. They always show up on time and seem accommodating with regards to scheduling appointments. However this "name your price" thing really turned me off. I am not a victim here. I got exactly what I agreed to pay for. I just feel that the entire exchange was kind of slimy, like I was dealing with some used car salesman. After "negotiations" broke down I just wanted them out of my house. I just don't like doing business this way. Needless to say we will not be doing any more business in the future. This event forced me to look elsewhere for a new plumber. Maybe it taught me a good lesson.

I thought they were good. Their work was excellent. They were prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. They cleaned up after themselves and took away the old heater.

This company did a really good job. The workman was professional. He explained what had to be done and we made the discussion. He did the work very professionally and quickly.

We called late morning on a Sunday, after we had tried to clear the drains ourselves. They told us it would be up to 3 hours, depending on the other calls for the local service person. He called within an hour and arrived 15 minutes later. He assessed the problem quickly and had the problem solved in about 30 minutes. He was very professional and considerate. He also offered tips on how to avoid the problem in the future and gave us his cell phone number in case the problem should return the same day. We also received a senior citizen discount of 5%.

Impossible to get on the phone, our home failed both the City of Dallas and Atmos Energy inspection, doubled their estimate without a written or verbal explanation, did not complete half of the work on time or as planned, and they did not do what they said they were going to do. I would not recommend ARS to anyone. Our water heater went out and we were referred to them through our home warranty company. They were very prompt initially, they came out the inspect the water heater within a few days from our call. We decided to go with the cash out option and install a tankless water heater in a new location. The workers came the very next day and completed the work to our satisfaction, or so we thought. We also got a quote from them to relocate our furnace to the attic. We decided to move forward with them and that the work was supposed to begin quickly, but days went by with no word from ARS. We finally called again and the head heating and cooling guy came to our house to check out the project. He recommended a brand new compressor and said he would call us back that day with the quote. He said they could start the work soon, but they were very busy. Weeks went by with no word from them. In the meantime, we had Atmos Energy come in and install a new gas meter to support the tankless water heater. He inspected our furnace while he was there, red tagged it and turned the gas off because it was not properly ventilated. Come to find out, they took some of the parts from the furnace to ventilate the water heater. We called multiple times and finally got a call back from the head heating and cooling guy. He had our estimate for the relocation of the furnace and the new compressor, now over $7,000, when it was originally $3,000. When we asked why the cost increased so much he said he would have to get back with us. Funny, he never called us back. And, they never addressed the fact that our gas supply to the furnace was turned off because of their error. We finally gave up on having them move the furnace. We got a significantly lower quote and someone who would actually return calls to complete the work as scheduled. I also called them four times requesting a copy of the receipt so I could send it in for reimbursement from our warranty company. Each time it was, I ll fax it right away, and then it never came. Six weeks after my original request, I finally got someone on the phone who faxed it right away. He also asked us if we ever got it inspected. No, you were supposed to schedule that. He scheduled the inspection a few days later and guess what? It failed, because of another mistake of theirs. Now we failed two inspections, and are still having a hard time getting them to take action.

They give prompt service, they are reliable, and they come and fix our needs.

It was just supposed to be an A/C check and service, but the unit is about 22 years old and still running. I bought the house 2 years ago and this is the first service that I have had done on the unit, so I wasn't really surprised at some of the minor things.

The first visit was to replace the hot water heater. When they removed the old hot water heater they added more water damage to the carpet. On the second day, city inspection red tagged it the new system because a new pipe wasn't added to the new system and also the gas needed to be able to turn on and off and was only able to turn on, not off. The second visit came and took care of the red tags from the city inspector. They had to come back a third time because I didn't have hot water so they had to fix that.

I like that they kept me informed of what they were doing at all times. They did show up on time and were very polite. The price for their services was very fair and I would definitely recommend them.

This is one of the best plumbing companies we have ever used. They also do heating and air conditioning, but this time out they helped us get our new vanity sink working correctly. They are very dedicated to ensuring the customer is one hundred percent satisfied, and they really clean up well when they are finished. I recommend them very highly.

They were great about informing me how to save money. Because of this, I gained a trust with them because I know they were concerned with my needs. Another thing that I liked was the way they picked up the water heater from another area and delivered it to my home.

The upstairs toilet was flushed several times, sink and tub were checked but could not find any evident leaking. He said could do diagnostics for $65. Mentioned when people take shower could be water coming through floor. Husband poured a little water around toilet base and heard a gurgling sound. Said we just needed to re-caulk around toilet base. Plumber was there for a total of about 30 minutes, which works out to about $290/hour. My husband thought the $145 was ok, but that's probably because he did not have to do it. :-)

They did a good job, they came quick and worked fast. They reconnected everything back to the city line the right way. They talked to me about the work they were going to do and after they were done the explained what they did to keep me informed. Everything was done right and they are good knowledgeable plumbers.

Called for service and plumber was here within the hour. Toilet unstopped in about 5 minutes. Kitchen use of electric auger, took less than 30 minutes. Plumber ran the auger for the full 75 feet finding a few "tight spots." He was very conscientious with respect to the floor and the items under the sink. He carefully cleaned up afterwards. He answered all questions.

Very unsatisfactory service overall, with the same problem re-occurring. In other words, the initial problem was not fully resolved, since to same issue arises month-after-month.

Called Rescue Rooter to fix a leaking sink faucet, and to repair several toilets as a side job. Two very swarmy looking males showed up, looked at the job and said, ''Oh, you need a faucet repair, we are not authorized to do faucet repair, we only do LEAK repairs.'' They then looked at the toilets and quoted an astronomical $350 for the repairs, but I was in a hurry and did not want to spend another day waiting. They fixed the toilets in about 15 minutes time. So I paid $350 for about $30 worth of parts and 15 minutes of labor. The next day, the toilet downstairs malfunctioned and flooded the first floor. The second repairman for the sink never came as promised and I ordered the part from Kohler and fixed it myself. DO NOT USE ARS RESCUE ROOTER UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING ROBBED. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS.

They very good job, but a little pricey. You pay for perfection, very prompt and professional. They quality of the work is top notch.
