A plan was devised for re situating furniture and purchasing additional furnishings for a room in my home.

I was looking for an Interior Designer who could listen to what I was looking for, provide me guidance and let me go for it. I knew I was color challenged after having color swatches on my walls for 2 years! I kept asking everyone I knew and looking on the internet, but didn't get any recommendations. Since my home was built over 60 years ago, I couldn't go all out and needed to be conscientious of how I spent my remodeling funds. I finally joined Angie's List specifically for this. I found and chose Joetta because of her raving reports. Well, I need to rave as well. We spent a whole day walking through the downstairs and choosing various colors. Joetta listened very closely to what I was trying to achieve and helped me put it all together. I knew what wallpaper I wanted and from there, she worked with me to choose the rest of the colors for the other rooms. Not even close to what I had on my walls! We also chose to add some crown molding to some of the rooms. We discussed options on changing some of the furniture because I wanted to, not because she recommended it. She wrote everything down to provide a copy both for her and me, took pictures and also provided me with a list of names to get everything completed. Because I work and wanted to get this done, I chose to go with one contractor who could do all of it. When I started, I got confused on some of what we talked about. She couldn't come out because of her schedule, but she pulled her notes and looks at pics and helped me sort through my confusion right there. It was super. She is great following up via email. When the contractor was almost completed, I met with her at a fabric store to choose fabric for the dining chairs. I also took some pics to discuss window treatments, her opinion on certain things, etc. We spent about 1.5 hours at that time and I walked away with some options for me to take home and choose. She again gave me names of people to do the work. This time I used her recommendation as this wasn't part of what the contractor did. In sum, my downstairs looks beautiful due to Joetta's design help and the contractors' work! If you are looking for someone to provide you with guidance and choices with you being heavily involved and managing the process, Joetta's the designer for you! I am and my husband is, forever grateful we found her to complete what I started a long time ago. Joetta is also cost conscientious and helps you put together a plan which help you make the decisions on what need to be done first, what can wait, what is must do vs. nice to do.

She let us just ask her for help on one day (So it was not an all over room make-over), it was just to hang pictures. She measured distances and discussed color schemes with us so when we do decide to finish decorating the rest of the house we will be able to. She was also very communicative through email and I appreciated that. Both my husband I work crazy hours so she was more than happy to discuss times and dates via email so that was helpful. The one thing that is driving me a little crazy is she did not use hooks for hanging some of our larger pictures and they are often having to be straighten. We are going to have to take a Saturday to sort it but we figured with the money we paid we should not have to spend an afternoon redoing all of the previous work, but we will have to get to it eventually.

Joetta Moulden is phenomenal. I received her name from my granite installer to provide a design for my kitchen. She came to my house after a telephone conversation and spent several hours working with me and my ideas. She helped me pick out paint and cabinet colors for my kitchen based on the colors in adjacent rooms and worked me me on colors for other surfaces, including flooring, countertops and backsplash. She also provided advice on re-working a desk in the kitchen into a wine bar/beverage center. After the several hours we spent together, Joetta provided me with very detailed instructions of the kitchen remodel with places to go, workers to contact, websites to order reduced priced items. All very very helpful. I was able to hand these instructions to my contractors so they knew exactly what to do. Following the actual remodel, I asked Joetta to return to assist with adding the final touches or the "bling" to the kitchen, including window treatments, custom seat cushions and wall hangings. She helped me pick out all fabrics that day and also helped with some upholstery fabrics for the adjacent living room. On the second visit, I also received detailed instructions on the window treatments and other items. She gave me her contacts in the community to do this custom work. Every thing turned out outstanding. I will ask Joetta to assist me with all my remaining rooms.

I had some ideas on how I wanted the space I was remodeling to look, but I wanted her to review my ideas and provide me with tips. I thought she was extremely helpful. She was very flexible with her schedule. The people she recommended for me to use to provide the work I needed for the remodeling were very good.

She's expensive, but she was well worth the money. It worked out very well. She helped a great deal. She was very practical and very realistic. She was very prompt, friendly, and through.

She was fantastic, because she was very, very knowledgeable. She let us lead as far as what our style was. She wasn't pushy, but she did give advice if she thought we were picking something we wouldn't be happy with in the end. She was very knowledgeable with the materials we were working with. She gave me a lot of resources and the tools to get started.

She was very professional. She got done what I wanted to get done. She is very efficient. She is very courteous and kind. I would use her in the future. Her responsiveness is great.

Joetta was on time. She reviewed the cabinet plans/design from the home improvement store. She then made recommendations on the placement of certain types of cabinets and appliances. She provided advice on the breakfast area and how to better organize it (move the home office and place tables/chairs/art). She then did the most incredible thing. In order to pick out the color combinations for cabinets/countertops/backsplash and floors, we went to home improvement store. She was great. If I didn't like something she suggested, she picked something else and then selected other things so it all coordinated. She used the original countertop color that I liked and since that was the only decision that I had made, we picked everything else together. She was wonderful! She is easy to talk with and a great communicator. She followed up on all items so now I have a spreadsheet of everything that I need to purchase with prices.

Joetta came to my house on the date and at the time that we had arranged. She looked around my house and then let me explain all the different projects that I wanted to get advice on. She listened carefully and made recommendations on how she felt best to solve my problems. She made detailed notes. When we had agreed on all the projects that needed to be accomplished, she went shopping with me to select fabric and area rugs. She then left me a copy of her detailed notes along with a "to do list" of things that I would do on my own with the vendor names and telephone numbers that she provided. Joetta would also deal with these vendors directly for me if I preferred. Joetta is very professional, flexible, personable, helpful, knowledgeable and kind. If you want a decorator that will really listen to you and help you create your own style instead of the decorator's style, Joetta is the one. You will love her.

Joetta and her intern, Dorinda, were both very down to earth and pleasant to work with. I was a bit intimidated by using a professional decorator for my very plain and normal house, but Joetta made me feel very comfortable about using what I already had in my house as opposed to making me feel like my things were not good or pretty enough to decorate with. I really appreciated this factor and her willingness to make sure I was comfortable with her suggestions and ideas. She also left me detailed notes with measurements, drawings and names and numbers of people she has worked with who could complete the work like painting, sewing, area rugs and general handyman tasks. She was also extrememly prompt in following up with me through email and attached pictures of fabrics she suggested. Unfortunately, I have been very slow in implementing her ideas, but continue to work on them and plan on using her services again to help arrange some other pieces in my house.

She had done some advance research, had some great ideas and gave me detailed suggestions in writing. I am taking some of them to a different level, but wouldn't have gotten there without her help. She also came up with a solution for saving a desk that I didn't think I was going to be able to use in the new room. I definitely recommend working with her.

My husband and I had downsized from a suburban home to a country cottage Had a lot of furniture that I did not know how to place. I saw an article that she had written in Houston House and Home and gave her a call. Joetta responded to my first call within days and was out by the next week. I know exactly how much I was paying per hour for her work. She arrived promplty and I felt like I had known her all my life. We hit it off from the very baginning. We walked through the house while we discussed my wish list. Then she began rearranging the furniture. She hung pictures and my grandmother's hand painted dishes. She measured windows and discussed fabrics. She gave me ideas about how to connect a large dining area to the kitchen. On another day, she met me to select fabrics for window treatments, sofas, chair pads and accent pillows. After I finished my homework and the curtains, sofas, etc. had been completed. I had Joetta return to fine tune what she had done on her first visit.

Everything went very well - Joetta was very prompt and good about answering all my questions via email. She had good reliable sources for me to use and she used things we already had as much as possible. She is very knowledgeable in design principles and has lots of good ideas. One example is her suggestion to use 2 comfy chairs and a large ottoman rather than a sofa and coffee table. The project turned out so well that she photographed it for a trade magazine.

When we moved to Houston several years ago I was at a loss about where to start when it came to furnishing our new home. By sheer luck I found Shelterstyle and Joetta Moulden. She came to the house, assessed our needs room by room, made detailed notes (for both of us) and provided names and numbers any services she felt were useful. We had a good bit of furniture and accessories that we wanted to keep but needed help arranging in our new home. Joetta did was great about finding places for what we already had that she felt would work here and suggesting ways to freshen them so that they fit into our new space. We used her to help with almost every room in our house and never been disappointed in the results. She is easy to work with, down to earth and most importantly for me reliable and honest.

Joetta met with us for two initial consultations, gave us detailed information on what she had in mind. We worked with her plans and made some adjustments, got several bids, and began the work. She continued to give us great advice and we were very pleased with the overall outcome. Two years later, when we decided to tackle an upstairs remodeling, we called on Joetta's expertise again. She even steered us towards her former intern for architectural design! She has a wealth of knowledge and is a pleasure to work with! We will call on Joetta again and have recommended her to family and friends.

I contacted her by phone and she made an appointment to visit me at my home. She suggested that I collect photographs of rooms and homes and objects that attracted me, that "spoke" to me. When we met she looked at the space and the things that I had chosen and quickly began to formulate a design, that addressed my desires and needs. We shopped together, shopped separately, emailed photographs and ideas and she created something much more beautiful than even I had expected. Befre and after photographs of my home have been selected for a Better House and Garden publication.

I really enjoyed working with Joetta; she is warm and friendly, as well as completely professional. Joetta's mantra is "if it's paid for, let's make it work", and she did just that. I was ready (and prepared) to get rid of everything and start anew, yet Joetta was able to use what we had and make it better. What impressed me most was the detailed plans she left me with, so that I could complete the project myself. Joetta graciously answered my extra questions via email, offering suggestions and encouragement along the way. I won't hesitate to call her again for future projects in our home!

The experience of remodeling the kitchen was wonderful! Joetta was a great help. She listened to my ideas and lent hers as well- together we came up with my ideal kitchen! The process was easy and fun- not everyone can say that for a complete room remodel! Joetta was friendly, easy to work with, and very hands-on.
