ROYAL BATH MFG CO

Monday 3-27-2012. We purchased our home with a Royal Bath hot tub in it in the master bedroom. The hot tub has not worked for years so I went and looked the company up online to get an estimate/book a service call. There have been no reports on this company in 3 years on Angies' List so I am taking my chances but we will see how it goes. They booked by for an AM appointment on Friday 3-30-2012 but couldn't tell me exactly what time they would show up. They gave me a 4 hour block on time (between 8 and 12) and gave me the service call charge ($89.00 which I had to prepay over the phone with a credit card) and the cost for replacing the botton ($12-15.00) or motor ($210.00). I don't like that I had to prepay for the service call but we will see.....Since this company made the bath tub I am hoping that they will be able to fix it quickly. I will update this report on friday when they come to service it. Let's pray for the best! Friday 3-30-2012. Service Technician arrives at 915am. He did not call before he came. He was done and out of the residence by 950. Nice guy but not very customer sevice oriented. Came in looked at the tub and immediately recognized that the button needed to be changed. Switched it pretty quick. He then gave me 2 prices for the button, the contractor price of $15 and the residential price of $25 which was not what I was told over the phone. I called their company number (281-442-3400) and was told that the charge is always $25 but of course that is not what I was told monday. I have never had to pre-pay for a service call. I think paying $114.00 to have a on-off button replaced on a hot tub is ridulous. Whoever answers the phone at this company doesn't have a good idea about customer service. I will never use this company again.

We got off to a rocky start. For a couple of years, Royal simply would not return my calls. Once I spoke to a live person, I was able to schedule an appointment. They were to call an hour before they arrived so I could meet them. They did not call so I missed them. I rescheduled that a couple of weeks later. The same fella came out, Antonio, addressed all of my concerns, replaced the parts that needed replacing, relocated the air switch on the tub and seemed to do a thorough and professional job. I am pretty pleased.
