My ratings need explanation because it is a result of two different services by two different subs under Repipe Specialists. Salesman Stephen was excellent and knew his stuff. They start off high then start coming down for this reason or that, then he matched the piping bid that I had from a good plumbing company I have used in the past and trust. I knew the sheetrock repair was going to be extensive and I knew that cost was going to run at least $800, unless I did it myself. So basically I signed a $8000 contract that comprised of $6800 for the repipe and $1200 for sheetrock with the logic of paying a little more for lifetime warranty and a company with a good track record who does this all the time. They have a finance deal available with Wells Fargo. 10% down and remainder financed for 1 year w/zero interest. Oh, and review the contract thoroughly for completeness and if you require texturing may sure it is noted to be included in the price. Salesman got a little pissy with me over the phone and threatened to hang up on me when there was some confusion with the sheetrock guy. When I sign a turnkey contract for 8 grand, I don't expect to have to chase contract details and/or coordinate agreement with sheetrock guy by offering them a few bucks or the price of a beer or whatever, as was suggested. I'll give him a pass, but as an experienced salesman dealing with anxious homeowners, I wouldn't think me saying 'I am not negotiating ****' would provoke an immediate response of hanging up on me. Before you go on to read my 'sheetrock' saga below, I will make mention that they will do a contract without the sheetrock and you can do it or hire someone else you might know or already have used in the past. If had a single story house, I wouldn't have included sheetrock. Typically a single story is going to be much less invasive and minimal sheetrock repair. They contract with a plumbing company out of Spring, Texas (EPW Services) which from what I understand performs 95% of their repipes. The day the work was scheduled, a 6 man crew showed up as scheduled with a heads up call they were on their way. Had a supervisor and a senior supervisor on the job. End of the day, repipe was finished for both bathrooms up and down. 2nd day crew of 4 completed the repipe for kitchen, utility room, and wet bar in a half a day. I can't say enough good about these guys. They definitely were a well coordinated team. Senior supervisor by the name of 'Boy' (I know but that is his real name) was outstanding on every point, working and supervising and coordinating and communicating with me. That is vital to a homeowner who is not sure just what to expect from what is a pretty major construction job in a short time frame. He advised me of a couple of duct issues I had in the attic and a sewer vent pipe that had been broken off from a previous re-roof job and helped remove 4 old doors that I didn't even know was up there. Sean and the rest of the crew were very good and I was actually surprised at how much care and effort they put into covering and protection of surrounding areas, including of course the installation, etc. All in all, very pleased. I had a couple of relatively minor issues in the days to come with my noticing a couple of supply hoses interfering with lavatory pop-ups. Longer hoses or extensions were an easy fix. Then in the downstairs bathroom I was getting a popping noise when flushing the toilet. Part of the pipe in the ceiling was fastened a little too low on the rafter and was actually laying right on top of the sheetrock and popping against it when the toilet valve shut off the water. Actually having retired from E&C business, I saw this before it got sheetrocked and had a concern about just that, but I let it go and didn't mention it. Had to open the ceiling twice to get that fixed to my satisfaction, but it was just one of those things. EPW was always prompt and responsive. Gold star in my books! After the repipe is completed, take stock of what little insulation you might need to replace and get it in place prior to sheetrock repairs or have it available for them to install if they will agree to it. They insulate all the pipes in the attic and outside walls as much as possible. The sheetrock side of the work was a bit of different story. It started off rocky with only 2 guys showing up and only one could speak English and he was obviously upset at the extent of cut-outs requiring repair. All I know is 'Carlos'...don't know if he had a company name or what. The one guy who could speak English left for a period of time without communicating that he was leaving much less when he'd be back. That's when I discovered he had not covered up my brand new vanity top in downstairs bathroom and had debris and tools all over it. Yeah, I was upset. The size of the job should have been communicated and they should have shown up with at least 3 or 4 people. Owner sent over 2 more guys about 6 p.m. that evening trying to hurry and finish. I wouldn't sign off on the work. Had owner do a walk thru with me next morning and he agreed to fix what I wanted fixing. When finished to my satisfaction, the quality of their finished sheetrock work was good. The coordination and process to get there was stressful. Right now after I have repainted, you wouldn't even be able to tell where the cut-outs were. I'm just going to say it. If you employ people who can speak no English, then I am going to assume they are wetbacks aka as illegal. Also you might tell them that some of us gringos may not be fluent in speaking Spanish, but we understand enough to know what you are saying is inappropriate and you wouldn't say it if you thought the homeowner understood. Probably one of the most annoying thing for me is that not once did I ever get a heads up from the sheetrock company owner or anyone that they were on their way over. Two of the follow up times I had them just show up unannounced after missing the day they were supposed to show up. Yeah I'm retired and at home most of the time, but you are just going to show up assuming someone will be at home? To conclude...I will say that Repipe Specialists of Texas Lisa Arismendez (Regional Operations/Customer Service Manager) gave me every assurance that they are working to resolve any issues of coordination and communication and have taken steps to do so. I believe that. I would and have recommended this company to friends of mine. So while I wrote this critical review, I feel like everything can't go perfectly and I know I am a picky person to deal with. All in all at the end of the day, everything was resolved to my satisfaction and all is good!
