The contractor was very prompt---when we said we wanted it done, the crew was there on schedule in a few days. Our roof had been done by the same contractor in 1989, so was very old and needed repair. The crew started early in the morning and finished in one day. This happened to be a very unusual morning for Houston where the temperature was about 30 deg F or below. We noticed some rippling of the shingles in the 1st area where they were applied. I asked the foreman about this and he said as soon as it warmed up the shingles would lay flat -- this was nothing unusual. It has warmed up, but not yet to the fiery temperatures of summer Houston roofs. The shingles have gone down most of the way but you can still see ripples in the one area which was applied at the coldest temperature. Mr Scarbrough and his wife came out and looked at the ripples, and he pressed them down with his foot to see if they were nailed correctly. They said that if the shingles did not go down with further heat they would come back and fix them. I do not doubt his word, but I have been waiting to give this report to see how smooth the shingles would get. I like the way they finished details around certain less-well-constructed parts of our old house (better than the 1989 crew did), but I am not totally satisfied because of the ripples--I think the workers were not used to such cold temperatures/stiff shingles. I liked the way we came to a quick agreement on using the old fashioned natural-draft cooling vents. Other contractors try to sell you "modern" ridge vent stuff which does not seem practical to me, and my previous experience with a forced-draft (electric) vent has been bad.

I called this company because they had installed the roof one year ago for the previous homeowner and it was still under a workmanship warranty. After waiting 2 days for a response to my initial voice message on their office phone, I called Jason on his cell phone and he answered right away. From then on, I found them to be very responsive. Jason called me back a little later with an estimate for the work and we worked out a time for them to do the work. By coincidence they were on a job 2 blocks from my house and were able to come later that afternoon. Larry, Jason and their assistant were all very friendly and professional. It was clear in talking with them and watching them work that they were very experienced. It took about half an hour to install the vents and they also caulked some flashing on the weatherhead that they noticed was not installed properly (work done after they installed the roof). They also cleaned up after themselves. I am very satisfied with their work.
