Description of Work: This is a company who is hired by my home warranty to do work on behalf of the warranty company. Without going into an elaborate discussion this company tried to take us for absolutely nearly everything we owe! I say do your homework-know your policy and get a second opinion from a company you can pay cash (without a home warranty) ...you'll probably spend ALOT less!

They never ended up being able to complete the work on the air conditioner. They told me that I needed a new coil and when they installed that it did not work right after that time. The air conditioner was working fine before all of this work. My daughter had to sleep downstairs due to this situation. They were Lone Star before and they were terrible and everytime that I have used them they have provided bad service. On a separate visit they wanted me to tear out a wall due to a leak that they said was there and there was no leak. On the most recent visit the first crew that came to my home got fired and the representative that came on the second visit told me this. This company told me that I had a freon leak underground and that was not the case at all. I hired a second company after this and he was able to complete the work in two visits. He would have been able to do the work on the first visit if the outside unit was not covered in ice, we had to let the unit defrost first. I am not going through my home warranty anymore as they have referred this company out a few times.
Description of Work: They first came to my home on the 26th of June, then the 9th of July, the 18th of July, and then the 23rd of July finally. They were doing a tuneup on an air conditioner. They have done plumbing through a home warranty in the past.

Only concern with the service was the fact that the tech was unfamiliar with our sprinkler control panel, which is understandably older. Aside from some fumbling with the panel, the two techs were very good at locating issues in the yard, repairing underground pipe leaks, and replacing valves and nozzles as needed. They were very upfront and honest, and suggested alternative options for repairing a non-operational zone for a lower cost and ultimately a cleaner repair. Very pleased with the service and would definitely use them again.
Rip off. This is a bait and switch program and Lone Star Repair's quote did not meet the red face test. Lone Star Repair was assigned to us through Allied Home Warranty (also giving them grade F) to repair or replace our hot water heater. Lone Star called promptly to set up an appointment and came out the next day. The tech was more than an hour early, which was actually inconvenient because I wasn't home. The tech took a lunch break. Lone Star kept calling my husband at work (3 times) about scheduling, even though the scheduling was being coordinated through me. The tech was friendly and pleasant, but once in my attic immediately started in with scare tactics about carbon monoxide in my attic and other "urgent" issues, and laying groundwork for why they we would be charging me extra for various things - all the while pointing out things that were "really bad". I had done my research in advance and gotten a quote to replace the water heater through a BBB A+ rated company that is also rated "best pick" on Angie's List, as well as voted Best of The Woodlands on www.woodlandsonline.com . I knew I could hire a reputable company to replace the water heater for $1,100 plus $100 surcharge for difficult access (due to awkward location behind ceiling joists), for a professional grade water heater with a good warranty. Lone Star's tech quoted $2,300+, more than DOUBLE the going reasonable rate. This included a $959 water heater (supposedly their entry level product) and nearly $1,300 in "access and upgrades" he claimed were required by code, etc. I was told the home warranty plan would pay for $750 of the cost. So the end total would be $1506.96. Still $300 more than the fair rate. Disappointed I had to pay a $60 service call fee for the opportunity to be ripped off. Lone Star is Allied Home Warranty's only plumbing contractor. No thank you, I'll take my business somewhere else.
