Houston Water Heaters

Houston Water Heaters was contacted for a quote for installing a gas water heater to replace an electric one located in the garage. We explained there was already a gas line in the garage as a gas water heater had originally been installed when the house was built. A quote was made for a little under $1,000 for installation of a Rheem 50 gallon gas water heater with six year warranty on tank, parts and labor. We were aware that the price might be higher due to possible need for updating gas connections, interior gas line and venting as the original ones were installed many years ago. We were able to get an installation date to meet our scheduling needs. David and Luis came at the appointed date and time. They inspected the current set up and explained that some updating was needed. The price would be around $200 more than the original quote. This was a reasonable amount for the updates needed that included a gas valve and flex line and venting. They would install the vent pipe in the garage and also need to go on the roof to install the vent addition. Also it was explained that the long style tank that we had requested would not fit in the space with the current water pipe connections so they needed to return to their shop and get the shorter version that would fit without modification and pick up all the needed supplies. The 50 gallon sized tank and brand requested would remain the same. They returned very quickly and started the installation and finished in a short amount of time and cleaned up everything. Both David and Luis were very helpful, professional and knowledgeable. The only issue with the entire process was a mix up with office staff regarding if an electric outlet was needed to operate the gas water heater thermometer. The electric tank to be replaced was hard wired and not near an outlet. One of the office staff during the quoting process had indicated we would need one when we explained about the hard wiring set up on the electric tank. Turned out that an electrical outlet plug was not needed for the gas water heater as the mechanism that runs the thermostat is set up to run without needing electricity. As expected our natural gas bill charges went up some but we now have a lower electrical bill. The main reason to switch back to natural gas water heater was to reduce the load on the electrical power. Overall, we were very satisfied with the entire experience. The gas water heater has been installed several months now and performing very well. There is a knob on the outside of the tank that allows for easy adjustment of the preferred water temperature.

I called on a Tuesday morning and talked to the guys about wanting to replace our existing water heaters with tankless ones. We went over the basic options on the phone, and made an appointment for the next day. On Wednesday morning they came out and looked at our situation. Our existing gas line did not have enough capacity to handle our current needs and handle the high demands of the new tankless heater. We talked about the options of replacing the existing heaters, or going with the tankless heater and having to run a whole new dedicated gas line. The guys were very forthcoming with the fact that if I wanted to do it as I envisioned it there would have to be extra cost and time involved. I decided to go ahead with the tankless heater and new gas line. The three person crew showed up Thursday morning and got right to work. They were very professional with all of their dealings in my house. Removing the old heaters and installing the new tankless was the easy part. The gas line was a difficult process. They could have stopped working at 5pm and come back the next day to finish the job, leaving us with no hot water. However, the entire crew stayed until 9pm to make sure the job was done correctly and on time. I give them lots of professional credit for taking the extra time to do the job right the first time.

Called on Thursday came out on Friday and replaced 18 year old working gas hot water heater. They removed old one from the attic and installed new. Covered floors and carpets so no cleanup afterwards, a professional job.

David and his assistant showed up on time and quickly started work. They drained the old heater and then uninstalled it and removed it for disposal. The new heater was then installed and new water and gas valves, flex tubing, and drip pan were installed. They then sealed the roof vent. Before leaving, they went over the operation of water heater. Both individuals were very professional and did a good, quick and professional job. Protection was laid to protect the carpet. They did a good job of cleaning up after the installation,

They removed the old heater and put in the new one. it took about 2 hours.

The two guys who came out were very courteous and professional. I watched the whole installation. The location of the heater in the garage made for some difficulty in removing and installing, but they were able to figure out a way to make it work.

Arrived promptly, explained procedure well, made some code improvements at a fair price, installed new and carried away old. Were very neat, worked together efficiently, and left no mess. Took me in to explain some good use habits, use of the heater, etc. Very pleased with their service.

I called on Tuesday and they were able to fit me in that day. I was given an approximate time they would arrive, and Luis called a couple of times to keep me updated. Luis and Cantu were in and out, completely done in less than 90 minutes. Very professional--put drop cloths down to protect the carpets. Even though they had to access the attic through a drop down door and a ladder-- it did not seem to be an issue--they worked very well together. They recommended replacing the pan under the water heater and showed me why. I was very impressed and would recommend them.

The important aspect of this experience is the short period of time it took the company to respond and replace the water heater. On the night of 11/25/2013, we had a bad water heater, leaking the the garage. Next morning, we called Joe at HWH at 8:40AM and he gave the call to his technicians. At 11:00AM, we received a call from Luis, who was on his way to replace the water heater. Luis and another technician arrive at 11:15AM - surveyed the old system and briefly said the replacement would be no problem and a pan would be included to catch water, if the system ever leaked again. The pan was a small additional charge and not included when the house was built. By 12:20PM, the water heater was replaced with a new Rheem, the garage was clean and the technicians gave a few instructions on draining residue, and the limited caring of the water heater. The whole installation experience took around 4 hours and temperatures were in the 40s all week - losing that water heater could have been a big problem. I appreciate the expedited, professional service and would use Houston Water Heaters again. Thanks for your help.

We had this company replace two water heaters with one in a home that didn't need two in the first place. After much research and cancelling an attempt with Sears they came and did a wonderful job which include redoing the pipe set up to adjust for the 2 to 1 change. Because of the good work at our 1st home, when we moved and the new home needed a new water heater we called them. Again - great job. Recently a pipe busted on one of the two water heaters we currently have (this time we probably do need two - bigger home). The pipe busted on the water heater they did NOT replace earlier 2011

Steve asked me to provide photos of the water heater with model numbers, connections, and also photo's of the room where the heater was located - to insure his team could access the heater. Steve quoted an estimate to replace the water heater of $2166. David and another young gentlemen - his partner (sorry, I forgot your name, but not how professional and nice you and David were). They came with, with equipment, and laid cloths down to prevent the stairs from scratching the floor. David turned off the breakers and they both went to work. Two hours later, our 18-year old water heater was in their truck and our new one was installed and operating properly. David wrote up the paper work, and mentioned that since were were Angie's List members, we were entitled to a $50. discount - if we had a coupon. Great experience. I discussed the work needed over the phone as well as the hot water heater that would be needed. They were great about answering all my questions. I was very glad they were able to do the work that Saturday. The workers were nice, showed up on time, and were done faster than expected. I'm happy with the work and will definitely recommend them.

I called them in the late morning. David and his helper showed up a couple hours later in a very professional looking van. They got started right away and were done in about 4 hours. The water heaters that they removed were the original water heaters and were loaded with settlement so it took them a little longer to get them removed. The job looks great and very professional.

Everything went well. Had an issue with the hot water heater fitting in the closet but that was not the plumbers fault. extremely courteous, on time and knowelegable. Will use them again.

I knew nothing about selecting a water heater; I only knew Rheem was considered one of the best. Through my research I came across Houston Water Heaters and decided to ask questions. First, I communicated with Steve via email. He gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. Second, Joe called me and answered one more question, that's when I decided to go with Houston Water Heaters. Third, around 2:30 I received a call from David and we ironed out the specifics -- we set a date for 9:00-9:30 the next morning. David and Luis arrived right on time; a little ahead as a matter of fact. They were highly professional; very respectful young men. They completed the job within a 3-hour timeframe -- install and cleanup. They explained everything to me about my new heater and they were on their way. A pleasant good-bye ended the transaction. I will have no problem calling on these guys again. They say they stand behind their parts and labor warranty; hopefully I won't need to use it, but just in case, I believe they will. They were very professional and did a great job. Never once tried to up-sell me for something I didn't need, an honest experience.

It went very well. Juan and Oswaldo (? I think that's what their names were) were very efficient and did the job in about two hours. Juan answered all of my questions, and explained what they were doing every step of the way. He also told me to contact Houston Water Heaters directly if I had a problem. Before they left, I asked him to show me how to turn off the water to the house via the shut off valve by the house. He did so and explained that if I was doing to leave town for more than a week, that I should cut off the water to the house just to be safe and avoid potential water leakage from malfunctioning appliances and toilets.

My wife discovered a water mark in an upstairs closet. We checked the attic to find one of our water heaters was leaking from the bottom of the tank. We called several companies for estimates and chose Houston Water Heaters. The experience was excellent start to finish. They were on time, performed the service and were gone within 2 hours for an attic installation on a two story house. I will use them again when I need to replace my second water heater. I gave a B on the price because it was about $200 more than other competitors that were not on Angie's list. I do not even ask for the Angie's List discount.

I called this morning 5/24 and they set up a time to come out and replace the water heater. It was only 2 hours apart when I called and the showed up. David Armstrong did the job. It took about hour forty five minutes to do. He went over everything with me what they had done. David is very thorough in his work. One of the nicest men you could meet. I will use them again.

Excellent service all around Clean neat quick no after problems I was tardy in coming into put my review... but I was truly satistifed, it was such an easy experience - I forgot all about it and as a result to go in an put my comments! I was a little worried at first because it involved a gas connection but my concerns vanished quickly. They also managed to get the old leaky one out and the new one in through the small opening to my attic which amazed me in itself. I initially learned of them not through Angie's list but two separate friends that had water heater replacements through them and were very happy as well

Excellent. I called 2 days before and scheduled for Friday morning. Called day before to confirm and the morning of theycalled to let me know time. When the prior job went longer the tech called before confirmed time to let m eknow they would be running 30 minutes later. Arrived and immediately got to work. Crew was very professional and courteous. Finished and reviewed warranty and set up with me. Accepted the $50 Angie's List coupon and reduced the price.
