Description of Work: Replaced 30 feet pipe above master bedroom and about 9 feet in kitchen.

Description of Work: They identified a blockage in the line from my kitchen and laundry room. It was underneath an area of my property that is paved with flagstones over fine-grit granite gravel. They carefully excavated the area, separating the gravel, flagstones and soil. They removed a joint that another contractor had installed with sub-standard materials which had partially collapsed. When installing the new joint, the reshaped the intersection to reduce the chance of blockage in the future. They carefully compacted the soil down to grade, and reinstalled the gravel and pavers.

Description of Work: Michael provided an estimate for kitchen sink improvements. 1) install hot/cold 1/4 turn cutoffs, 2) redo drain connections, 3) install customer provided sink, faucet and garbage disposal. Because the total estimate was more than I expected, I paid only the service fee and indicated that I would have to get additional estimates from others.

Description of Work: Mr. Michael Donalson of Donalson Bros. Plumbing unjammed a garbage disposal into which the metal handle of a measuring cup had been securely lodged. He spent a substantial amount of time consulting with me on what sort of kitchen faucet I wanted and called to make certain that the faucet in question met the more restrictive California lead standard. He solved the problem of low flow to our kitchen sink by installing new hoses and plugs. He provided and installed the new kitchen faucet, preparing the sink by thoroughly removing the scale buildup that had gathered there. He installed new cartridges to both sides of one lavatory faucet. When closing the shut off valves in order to work on the faucet revealed that they leaked, he installed new ones. He relocated the hose bib in the back yard, rerouting pipe along the exterior of the house so that the hose bib was no longer at an awkward angle, but ran behind a utility shed to an easily accessible section of the wall. He replaced the hose bib and insulated the pipe section. He checked the a second lavatory faucet for leaks, first showing me that the probable cause of the water around it was the backspray from the aerator, then taking off the handles to reveal that the cartridges were not leaking. He then cleaned the scale deposits that had gathered around the cartridges and the base of the faucet. For the services relating to the second lavatory faucet, he refused any payment, on the theory that he had only shown me that no repair was necessary. He also replaced the grout at the edge of the lavatory sink at no charge, even when this turned out to involve removing the trim pieces and laboriously scraping them clean of their old grout before replacing and regrouting them. In addition, he installed a toilet seat that he saw I had purchased. After our discussion of cleaning methods for the scale, he showed me his technique for cleaning discolored grout. After each step was performed, he let me check his work and made sure it was really to my liking. As part of the above price, I purchased a service contract that gives me a discount on future service, too. Except when specifically mentioned, all the materials he used were provided by him.
