This was an awful, awful process. I hired a property management firm and paid them 10% of the monthly rents because they assured me they could make sure they put a quality tenant in my home; would make sure the property was cared for; and would keep everything in good condition. FALSE!!! 1) The management company took a while to rent the property out--that's fine, expected. 2) The management company waited MONTHS before notifying me of damage to my home, or before making the necessary repairs. 3) The management company had some outrageous quotes for repairs--when I sent my own contractors they would fix the problems for a tenth of the quote the management company provided. 4) The tenants gave the management company 30 days notice. The management company DID NOT notify me of this--I found out because my sister drove by and saw folks moving out. 5) The property was left in complete shambles. Apparently there are bags of trash in my home, an abandoned van in the home, pet litter throughout the home, damaged blinds and just a total disregard for the cleanliness and quality of the home. The property management firm has provided very little proactive communication and only replies to me when I contact them first. I am disgusted with the quality they have provided.
