Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electrical

They have been our go to plumbing company for a long time and after looking at the rate and stuff that we're getting charged on them versus other companies and how long it takes them to come out and stuff we're on and just have a really high rate.We had a drain that was clogged done by them and they told us it would be at least a year before it happened again so when we called we expected them to come back out and help us but they didn't even return our call until the next day. They told us they would send somebody out in about 72 hours and I've got a a drain that was overflowing and I' not gonna wait for three days. They seemed very knowledgeable, professional and seem like it was a great experience but the follow-up on it which should have been handled the same way but it was not.

We realized that we needed to bite the bullet and replace all of the old galvanized pipes underneath our pier and beam 1920 vintage house. We trusted the plumber's recommendation. That is quite expensive so we will save up and make it happen in the near future. This company was very responsive.

I called them and they were out that same day. They were quick, courteous, neat and clean. He even put on little booties before walking through our home. He was very professional.

When they came out to look at my water heater, he provided me with the option to repair only one replace both. He provided me with a lot of great detail. They arrive on time, are very professional, and do very good work. The guys who come are very clean, professional, and polite. They offer first class service. However, they are extremely expensive. I will only hire them for large jobs, but no longer for any small repairs.

The work was okay. I have had troubles with my water heater since the day it was installed. They have come out several times for the repair on my water heater. They claim that the problem is that the wind continues to blow the pilot light out and I need to keep the door open. I don’t see how the wind gets to it as the water heater is inside the house. It goes out all the time and any morning when I wake up, I may not have hot water.

Timmy, John, and Anthony were technicians who have come out for the work and they have been great! When they came out for the hot water heater, they brought several models with them in the truck for us to choose from. They were on top of everything. Everything was fine and we have no complaints.

They only get a B rating due to price. Everything went great but I know I could have received a much better price but paid more for convenience. My 10 year old builder grade water heater started leaking at 5 pm on Saturday and I had to turn the water off. Abel arrived within a few hours. He was very courteous, clean, wore booties, knowledgeable, and professional. Called a supervisor once I agreed on the "standard" pricing and he arrived within the hour with a 12 yr 50 gal replacement. They were finished and cleaned up by 11 pm. I know that I paid an after hours service fee and additional charge for being in the attic but I also know from experience that most companies will price match a reputable competitor. Had this been a Tuesday morning I know I could have made some calls and received the same service for much less not including the $150 after hours service fee. I will recommend this company because they did a great job and I bet they would have worked with me on price M-F 9-5 if I could have spoken to a manager. Great Service and Very Professional.

I have used them a few times over several years. They are very professional, clean, and courteous. They have always done a good job, however their prices have been high. We have since started using another company because of their costs.

My husband hired them because he heard them recommend on a home repair show. They did a very good job and were able to complete all the work in the same day. They are a good and reliable company. We were very pleased with the them and we would definitely use them again.

I called for service at 8:30am. Serviceman showed up at 4:30pm. Service call was $49. When he arrived he looked in the attic and gave me an estimate of $158. He went back into attic and came back to tell me that he would have to cut the sheetrock in the ceiling to get to the leak and it would cost $458. When he finished the cost was around $750 and I now have a hole in the ceiling that I have to get someone else to repair. After reviewing the bill I saw that I was charged $150 just to take a box cutter and cut the sheetrock. I will not use ABACUS PLUMBING again!

They did very good. The guy was very professional. He told us everything he was doing and showed us everything he was doing. I liked his professionalism, price and courtesy of the communication. They set up the time and were here in 35-40 minutes. After I used their service I received a thank you card with the technician’s name printed.

Overall, I would not use Abacus again, or purchase their "membership." I do not have any overt complaints, but feel there are better plumbing companies out there. The positives are that they are prompt (for scheduling), and answer on weekends, and plumbers are courteous and professional. Staff are also courteous. They fixed our stopped up toliet/sewer line. Overall, it went fine, but when it was stopped up again we ended up calling Church who was able to fix for a fraction of the price that Abacus had quoted. I would also not recommend the "membership." They advertise that they will inspect all plumbing (which they did, and then listed some items to be fixed for $3000!) They did not "tighten any faucets." We will not be renewing our membership. We also had them come out for a quote to replace our HVAC system. This is probably the visit that burned us the most. First of all, even as "plumbing members," they wanted to charge us a service fee for their salesman to come out and give us an estimate. Our AC was not broken, we just wanted a quote becuase it was old. Luckily, they ended up "waiving" the service fee once I requested that. We had two other companies come out, and Abacus was the highest price.

I had a window time of 12-6 p.m. on Saturday afternoon with the understanding I would receive a phone call within 45 minutes of the plumber's arrival. However, Abacus had a morning opening, so the receptionist asked me if I would like the plumber to come earlier; I thought it was a good idea. Don pulled up in the visitors' parking area just as I was walking my dog, so he graciously waited until my dog had finished his business, talking to me outside, before he entered my home. I apologized for the wait but said I was unaware my dog would need to go outside just as he drove up. I explained to him the problems I was having with my drains. The downstairs lavatory drain had been stopped up and water stood for several days, but finally it disappeared. With that being said, I wasn't sure the drain was fixed permanently. The upstairs master bathroom drain in the lavatory was slow to drain out every time I had to use the sink. The bathtub drains had been working all right, but I wanted them checked anyway, so Don checked them all. He took about an hour, calculated the bill, had me sign off on his work, and then I paid him. The actual work was $325.90, but the owner asked me if I wanted to enter into a service agreement for $126 a year when I placed my call to Abacus that would entitle me to get a 15% discount on all future work and give me a priority status if I had an emergency. II told him I wanted it, so he took my credit card number to pay for the service before any work was done in my home. I also used a $50 Angie's List coupon that Abacus had for its customers, and that took care of the service call charge. This is why the bill was $451.90. All in all, the experience was a pleasant one. Don told me Abacus had high standards and had a good reputation since it had been established ten years ago and that only the best plumbers are employed at Abacus.

It was a little expensive but it went well because it was in the middle of the night. My husband was really happy with the service. They came out and they did not break a bush since they have to get through the bushes to get to the drain. We would use them again.

They were prompt and professional but they were expensive.

Plumber arrived on time. Very professional. He cleaned our faucet that had low water pressure.

The technician was on time, performed the work efficiently and was very pleasant and informative.

At first, it still leaked but he came back in the house and redid the repair. Very expensive.

We use Abacus for every plumbing issue, replacement or repair. They've replaced many pipes in our house and all of our toilets. They aren't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Ask for Aaron, he's the best!

I have to apologize for the previous review. I was frustrated and my response which was probably triggered by the fact our old water tank had burst and there was a flood on our bathroom floor. I decided to not be hasty and called a third time, an appointment was made and we received a call in the evening confirming there would be a technician available in the morning. The plumber arrived on time and gave us a complete description of the cost, the additional charge for an attic installation and warranty choices. He also explained about the Abacus Club and all the advantages of joining. We have purchased the plan and have no hesitation in recommending Abacus Plumbing. David and his assistant were very courteous and professional, great representation of the company.

A friend referred Abacus. We called and signed up over the phone to join their Member's Club for $126. This entitled me to lots of free goodies, including the camera inspection of our sewer line. We had crazy high rates for this service from other companies. They came out that same afternoon. Received a 45 minute heads-up call. They inspected all sinks, toilets, tubs/showers, for leaks including flushing my tankless water heater! Got excellent tips on updating certain items in the home to keep things running. Thankfully we had no leaks in our sewer line, so we walked away with quite the service. Don was the service guy and he was professional, knowledgeable, and had a good sense of humor. He let me follow him around and ask questions. :) These guys are known to be expensive, but I can see how professional and organized this company is. Would not hesitate to renew my membership again next year for this service.

My experience with them was really good. They were very efficient. It cost me probably more than I expected but I didn't have any facts to say whether it was too expensive or not. The service was topnotch.

They are so professional and so courteous. They also make sure that they pick up after themselves. I can't say enough about them. They're just excellent. We had to call them on a Sunday. They came in and they put the new hot water heater in within an hour of work.

He gave me about 4 options starting with replacing the toilet (really?) down to replacing some parts to fix the problem. I took the least expensive option.
