Abacus was out the same day I called to scope out the sewer line inside the house and outside to the main. They found the problem. The next day the excavating company was out to uncover the line. The next day the Abacus crew was out to cut out the old line and install a new, thicker pipe. The following Monday, the excavating crew was back to fill in the trench. The took almost all day to make sure the yard look as close as it could to the way it had been. Very pleased with the service Abacus gives us.

What an AMAZING experience! We have been with Abacus for about year now and they have been awesome! I initially signed up with them for the BAM plan because we moved into a new home and we loved the annual and bi-annual inspections it came with. Every person I have dealt with there has been top notch. I recommend them to EVERYONE who will listen.

They were very professional and clean. They stated in black and white everything that was wrong and took pictures and showed it to me. They let me know how long it was going to take to fix it. Soon as I gave him the O.K. he was on the phone ordering the parts and new unit, and the parts arrived in about an hour as well as a helper. Once the parts came in, they started working and 2 hours later, they were done and cleaned up. The installer called back the next day to make sure everything was running smoothly. Great customer service!

Was very disappointed by the overall handling of the job and their customer service. In a quick nutshell, I needed to have a pilot light lit on a fireplace. Upon arrival, technician told me that he was not sure he would be able to do it, since this is not a common job request and they had nothing in their price list referring to this task. Therefore, he was going to charge me $158, price he usually charges for a some kind of water heater flush/inspection (don't quite remember the exact details). I was chocked by the price, since I had used this same service a year prior and at the time the technician charged me $49.95 (trip charge). I was very pleased at the time, not only because of the price, but because the tech realized of the "value" of the task performed. This time, the explanation for the $158 I got from the tech : I need to get all my tools to check it out and that was going to take time!!. Well, all the tools he ended up taking was a pair of plyers!!!! He unscrew the line to check for gas, closed it again, lit the pilot light. and explained me how to do it!!! that was it! Not even 15 minutes for $158!!!! Obviously when you have a good experience, in the sense that you are treated fairly, you go back to the same provider. Well this time, it turned out not so good. Being charged $158 for a 15 minute ACTUAL job, that was just outrageous. I will add that the actual time the tech spend on location was about 30 minutes (I made him wait 15 minutes upon arrival, but at the same time he was 10 minutes late). I did contact CS, (Charles Scott, very nice) but without any help as to the resolution of the issue in a positive manner. Not sure if Charles has any authority to make final decisions,since he had to go to his trade managers to get me an answer. The justification for the $158 : last time the tech took it upon himself to charge me $49, He did not charge the proper price. I should have been charged $158! (for $15 minutes job, that would make the job at over $550/ hour !! WOW) Being a business owner myself and having to face CS issues, I was pretty disappointed and really felt taken advantage of. This was not the answer a client would want to hear, at least not the outcome (explanation yes, outcome no). The ultimate goal of a good customer relationship and long Term business is to come to a satisfactory ending for both parties; the outcome in this case certainly did not meet my expectations.

I contacted Abacus roughly 3 weeks ago about a leaking shower head. While here, I asked if the technician could look at several other things. He was more than happy to check things out and didn't charge anything (had to dig up a gas line to check for leaks and check out a small leak coming from the side of the house - took roughly 1 hr). Sebastian (the technician) diagnosed both problems and it turns out the water heater was leaking. He gave me a quote to replace it. After he left, I called several other companies to get quotes as well. All came back around the same price, but I decided to go with Abacus because of the phenomenal service I received when Sebastian was here. After making an appointment to replace the water heater, a last minute emergency came up and I had to reschedule. Sebastian was very easy to work with to get the appointment rescheduled (had to reschedule the morning they were planning to arrive). He also didn't charge a rescheduling fee. During the installation, the technicians were both very professional and took the necessary precautions to keep my house clean. After installing the unit, Jose Garcia (technician for this job) took time to thoroughly explain the water heater and how to maintain it. They even spent a little extra time to insulate the pipes after I requested this. I highly recommend this company.

The technician was very courteous and professional. He kept all areas clean and when finished cleaned up thoroughly. There was nothing left undone - he even went to Home Depot to get a plate to cover the extra hole left in the kitchen countertop, and paint to finish touch up of the roof vent for the water heater. He coordinated every step with me, the owner.

So a member of our customer service team recommended that you could request a full, 100% refund thru Angie’s List for the purchase you made, and offered to provide an alternative solution to send a technician to your home to evaluate the situation. But you declined. At this point you should have already received 100% of your funds back from Angie’s List. If not, you can follow up with them directly. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with. We do hope to have an opportunity to prove ourselves to you in the future should you have any plumbing, air conditioning or electrical need. From a service perspective, it's was top notch. I got a call when they had someone in route to my house and he arrived at the beginning of the service window. Lindell was absolutely fantastic. He was friendly, explained what he was doing, was considerate about the noise and cleaned up very well. He's certainly the best contractor that I've ever had. From a price perspective, it was completely absurd, which I why I wouldn't recommend Abacus to friends. John Moore came to my home 3 years ago, removed the toilet and used an auger in the pipes, just like Abacus. They charged $368 whereas Abascus charges $561. Then to change the flange, it costs $328. I can buy a flange from Home Depot for $18 so I was basically charged $310 for labor and the toilet was already sitting in my kitchen so he didn't have to remove (as I'm sure was built into the cost). On top of that, I was charged $49.95 for a dispatch fee. When it was all said and done (and after I bought the $126 membership to get a $37 discount), it cost $901.95. Lindell was here for about 2 hours and 20 minutes, which means I was charged about $6.44 per minute (or $386.25 an hour) with the membership. I absolutely loved the service, would be a very loyal customer and tell everyone I know about Abacus, but the prices are unreasonable, even for the service. I generally expect to pay between $60 and $75 per hour for a plumber, but $386.25 is more like the rate of an expensive lawyer.

Our upstairs bathroom sink was clogged, we have tried draino, 15 ft manual snake and even the plunger! nothing worked, so we called Abacus on Monday morning and they came in the same day. Lady on the phone gave us a large time window(10-1) saying the technician will call 30 min ahead, called them again at 1pm and they said the plumber should be there by 2. Needless to say I wasted the whole day at home. Our plumber was Josh very professional explained what it could be and why then unclogged it quickly, cleaned up after himself and went on his way. Overall the experience was great except for the scheduling. I will be using them again.

Eddie arrived on time, was clean, courteous and friendly. Properly intoduced himself, put on shoe covers. Although i told him that he does not have to bother with it, since the floors were dirty from other contractors working in the house the previous day, Eddie put shoe covers anyway, and informed that it was a company policy. He is the best representation of a very professional and knowledgable technitian. Eddie answered all my many questions without rushing or any signs of being annoyed. I will definately use Abacus services in the future and will recommend them to anyone i know. Great technician, great company! Thank you Eddie and Abacus!

Plumber arrived on time (appointment changed to an earlier time because he finished last job early). Looked at work and gave an estimate which was out of sight for what I knew was a simple project. It was the company pricing not the plumber, as they state removing and replacing a cartridge as "rebuilding" of faucet. Since he was here and I needed work done I hastily agreed. After seeing time spent on job, it was more evident that this company overcharges to the fullest extent. Plumber also did not have supplies on truck so had to wait until someone else could bring them to him. During this time it was long enough for him to take his lunch break. This seems to be poor organizing. I will not use this company again or recommend to anyone.
Description of Work: Removed/replaced cartridges in one shower faucet and one sink faucet.

It's great. We've spent nearly $100000 with them. It was free. It was part of the guarantee of the work they've done before. They're a little pricey. They're always willing to come out and fix whatever was wrong. Their technicians are great.
Description of Work: We have used them for plumbing and for electrical work. The last time they were out, we had a re-pipe done and we still have moisture under our slab. They came out two weeks ago to check it out.

Great responsiveness. Their cost was slightly higher than other providers but they could come out immediately. Definitely worth it when it is 100 degrees outside.

I scheduled an appt to have a drain cleaned several days in advance. 30 Minutes prior to the appt , they called and said they were too backed up and cancelled. I guess its just one of my hot buttons that when I take off work and then get stood up. At least they did call, but given the size of the company, I would think they would be able to adjust schedules. I have used them in the past and was even a member of their service, but I don't think I'll use them in the future. UPDATE: I would like to add that Abacus called me , apologized and in my opinion handled this issue extremly well. Previously I didnt rate them on professionalism, but I amended my review to include this and then moved the overall rating up as a consequence. I dont think you can really ask more than for a company to directly address an issue like this in the manner they did. I will give them another chance based on their response.

Eddie did a great job. He kept up with were All American was in the project. He gave us some wonderful advice on the plumbing part of the project. We think Eddie is a great plumber.

They did a great job, even if we had to go without electricity for about six hours. This came about when we had Abacus install a new light in our remolded bathroom. The electrician discovered that we only had 90 volts service and we should have 120 volts. This was especially noticeable on the chard insulation of the electric wires. So we had Abacus do this work the next day before our house burned down.
Description of Work: Brought our electric service up to code by installing a new meter box and new upgraded breaker panel. They also installed a ground rod that we did not have before. They also secured all the requited city permits to do the work.

I asked the provider why the pilot light went out and he gave me an explanation that, as I thought about it, didn't make sense. To solve the problem, he recommended replacement of a part and of piping at a proposed cost of $1200+, more than I paid for the unit just a year ago. The hot water heater is only a year old, and I had not had previous problems. I decided I needed a second opinion and called Bluewater Plumbing in Conroe; I found them through Angie's List as well. Their plumber told me that they had been having repeated problems of pilot lights going out because of the extremely hot weather. His explanation was that the ambient air in the attic around the hot water heater got too hot and the water heater shut off the pilot light as a safety measure. This explanation made more sense to me. This plumber advised me to call the service provider who installed the hot water heater if the problem recurred. When the problem recurred, I called the contractor who installed the water heater, and he came to the house to re-light the pilot. He checked the unit, which is covered by a six-year warranty, and found no problem. The correct solution to the problem is to install an attic fan at a cost of $350 to keep ambient temperatures low. I will not use Abacus Plumbing again nor will I recommend them.

The water heater has been in a 120 degree attic for several years, The technician did make a recommendation as to why the pilot has gone out, there are some diagnostic tests we can perform on a water heater to verify our recommendation. The air temperature during the recent visit was indeed higher than normal and we should have taken this in to consideration. The shower handle in one of my bathrooms fell off late Friday night, and the water would not turn off in the tub. I had to turn the water off to the house. I called Abacus plumbing because I saw them on Angie's list. An appointment was scheduled for the next day. The technician was on time and diagnosed the problem in less than a minute. The part that needed to be replaced was the cartridge, which cost 19.97 at Lowes. However, I didn't know which cartridge before I scheduled the service call. When I ask the technician Jimmy why it cost so much, he smugly told me because there was a special tool that was needed, he knew what cartridge was needed (there is only one), and he was there to complete the job. I essentially paid: $49.00 for the service call, $20.00 for the part, and $259.00 for rental of the "special tool" and labor. The whole job took less than 15 minutes. Thank goodness for the $55.00 Abacus coupon on Angie's List. This experience reminded me why I am a member of Angie's List. As a single woman it is very hard to find honest companies that won't take advantage of my lack of knowledge. I had no choice but to pay this outrageous rate because it was Saturday afternoon and all the water to the house had been turned off for almost 2 days. I do not recommend this company.

Having never used Abacus before, they were not my first phone call. But, one of the companies I usually use told me they were too busy to help me out today and asked me to wait a day. When water is dripping and spreading through your kitchen ceiling that is not the response you want to hear. I checked on Angies List and found Abacus. When I called they answered the phone immediately, set a reasonable time frame for an appointment and were very thorough and friendly.. They even came out earlier than expected. The plumber was very nice, friendly and professional. The problem was diagnosed and fixed in a flash. One of the biggest shocks was I expected a big ordeal with a way marked up estimate, but that is far from what happened. They even recommended and assisted contacting a company to help clean up the damage. Seamless. I would definitely call them again.
