Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electrical

First of all, Thomas M showed up on time as promised. After viewing the toilet he gave a quote, which I accepted. He then pulled the toilet from the base; replaced the seal and completed the job within 30 minutes or so. He then adjusted the flapper in the toilet tank so it would work better. Very prompt, very professional, very clean result. Great attitude as well.

We had water stains on the kitchen ceiling due to a leaking water pipe. Since it was between floors, Abacus came in and cut a small hole in the ceiling to diagnose it. I was given several options and prices before any more work was done. They ended up cutting open the ceiling and replacing two pipes, about 14 feet each. They were very professional and did excellent work. Abacus will be the ones I call in the future, for any plumbing work.

Abacus did an amazing job. They were prompt, professional, knowledgeable and extremely courteous. I discovered water leaking from our upstairs ceiling onto the carpet on a recent Monday morning. After checking the attic, I discovered that one of our hot water heaters pans and the water heater itself were leaking. I called Abacus at 7:00 am and they arrived at our home in The Woodlands shortly after 8:00am. They quickly reviewed the situation, identified the problems (water heater was 13 years old and sprung a leak and drip pan had caulked, not welded, corners which were also leaking), and prepared a quote for my review. The lead technician also pointed out a vent problem from incorrect original installation and included that as an optional repair in the quote. They priced out three different heater quality levels and explained pros/cons of each. I gave them my decision and they promptly proceeded with repairs and completed the work by early afternoon. They had everything with them needed for the repairs and cleaned up completely before departing. We could not be more pleased with their service. On top of their solid performance, Abacus also referred us to a company (Bionic ) that they work with that does drying, cleaning and mold remediation. Bionic also arrived promptly that morning, inspected the problem areas, and provided a free quote. Because of their prompt and thorough drying and dehumidifying, our brand new carpet and pad show no signs of staining or damage of any kind. I'll have to add some touch up paint to the ceiling where the leak was and replace some insulation that had to be removed because it was soaked, but we feared there might have been permanent, significant issues if they hadn't done such a good job so soon. Based on Abacus's strong performance, we also elected to have their HVAC department perform a Spring AC inspection on both of our units. Price was reasonable and their thoroughness and documentation to us were far better than the three previous companies we have tried over the years.

Never received a call back. Asked an received my refund.

I had a leak in my water main right outside my house. It happened on a Saturday evening, so I called the only place I could find that would respond after hours (Abacus). The guy got here around 9:30 p.m. and without even putting a shovel in the ground, diagnosed the problem as being a broken water main pipe. He quoted me $815 to do a temporary fix so that I could have water over the weekend. They would then come back on Monday and run a new line under my driveway to the meter for $5600!!!!! I told the guy that that was RIDICULOUS and sent him away. This morning, I called my local plumber, who came and fixed the problem for $243. It turned out that a T-connection was loose. They replace the T and surrounding pipe. Needless to say, it's a good thing I wasn't dumb enough to fall for the quote from Abacus. BTW, they charged me $150 for coming out to my house after hours, even though they didn't do ANYTHING!

A bathroom faucet began to leak Friday at 4:45 PM. I phoned Abacus and was assured a plumber would be at my home by 6:00 PM. The plumber phoned within twenty minutes and arrived about 5:30 PM. He repaired the leak explaining the seals and cartridges. He worked very neatly and left not a drop on the countertop. The repair was completed professionally, courteously and promptly.

We had issues with the house sewage not draining. I found a great deal through Abacus known as the 123 - Cleaning and Inspection and gave them a call to try them out. Abacus was able to get me scheduled in the same day and told me that their tech would follow up to give me a heads up when he was going to be heading my way. The technician "Bill" was very professional and gave me a quick run through on the cleaning process and asked me a few questions. He quickly set up and was able to get the line cleared within 30 minutes. The video inspector "Josh" followed up and showed me the obstruction on my line and provided me with a few quotes for repair and financing options. After the work was done, I received a call following up with my satisfaction level for the service and was asked how the repair went. I was very happy with the service and will recommend Abacus to friends and family.

From the initial call to the completed project every phase of this project was handled professionally. I know that my old A/C units will need to be replaced, but until I can afford that expense my serviceman Keith will help keep them running!

As always, when we called with a plumbing issue, they responded quickly. Usually they are able to send someone the same or next day. In this case, they came a day and a half after the call - on a Saturday. They arrived in the time frame given and solved the problem. It did take a couple hours, and they had to get a special replacement part. Considering this happened on a weekend, I am impressed they quickly got the needed part and were able to repair it all on the same day. They are always courteous and fix whatever problem we have with plumbing. We have used them for the past 4 years and will continue using them,

Technician was knowledgeable, on time and explained everything to me as he went along.

The serviceman showed up exactly on time, was very courteous and friendly. Took the time to explain what he was doing and why. Had to clear the drain line from two different cleanings but did not hesitate and did a great job. I spent nearly 40 years in construction so I am not easily impressed but Tim impressed me! Great job!

The plumbers who came out in June did a great job. They were a little more expensive than what I expected, but I was pleased with their work.

It went well, Thomas, the gentleman who preformed the service was very polite, professional. He explained everything before he did the work. It was very pricey.

Initially I contacted Abacus plumbing to inquire about installing an "on demand" water heater under our kitchen sink since it took forever to get hot water there every day. I was tired of wasting water. They were able to make an appointment for the next business day. When Chris arrived, he was very professional and friendly. He inquired about the work I had requested, and explained everything that would need to be done under and above the sink for this unit. He also explained another option that I might prefer. Then, after checking out the water heater setup in the attic, he realized that we already had a hot water circulating pump installed, but it wasn't working properly. He also realized that the hot water heaters were set up in such a way that we were not benefiting from having two heaters. One tank did all the work while the other acted as a holding tank. Chris then explained the problem with this setup and the reason for the circulating pump's failure. He then explained how he could repipe the system to run more efficiently and replace the circulating pump with one that could better handle the water capacity of two tanks. This would not only solve our hot water problem in the kitchen, but all over the house as well. All costs were explained ahead of time, so there were no surprises on the bill at the end. The work was completed after a few hours on that same day, and the area was left as clean, maybe cleaner than before. The repair work done on the toilet was also explained, priced, and cleaned up well. The toilet flushes better than ever now. I have had work done by various plumbers in the past, but none were as efficient, knowledgeable, and neat as this. I will definitely use Abacus again in the future.

This was a big deal purchase. It was okay. They came out shortly after I purchased it -- within a week. It was fine They did not complete the service so that was frustrating. They could have followed up and actually performed the services that I paid for.

I am so happy with Abacus. After struggling more than 5 years with another HVAC company I decided to try Abacus. They immediately discovered and corrected system problems stemming from mistakes with the original installation. I bought my house new in 2010. The builder had used another big name HVAC company to install my Lennox system. The system never worked right, and, despite repeated calls the original installer could never correct problems. Abacus found that the control system, dampers, coil and other components had been improperly installed. Before Abacus, I had problems with whole areas of the house not cooling or heating. Also, water would collect in the overflow pan, and on a couple occasions overflowed into a bedroom below the unit. Eventually those problems created corrosion in the pan and coils. The original installer claimed no responsibility. That's when I called Abacus. Now the system works perfectly as designed. Now, I will only use Abacus to service my HVAC.

Andrew and his assistant were technically extremely competent, efficient, thorough, and before leaving, Andrew literally checked each and every switch himself to be sure it was. This was a massive job that was done with a thoroughness that was remarkable and extremely efficient.

Abacus was on time and very polite. The pro was very knowledgeable and genuine. We will definitely use them in the past.

Andres.Garcia, the technician, showed up within minutes of the scheduled time and quickly diagnosed the problem This was an old single-handle tub faucet that was letting very little water into the tub in the master bath. Would take a very long time to fill. He took several photos of the correct parts once he finally got them removed and emailed these to his parts person in their warehouse. The correct parts were located and brought as quickly as possible to the home and after installing them, the water coming from the tub's spout just poured out -- like it should. Abacus' tech was extremely professional and never gave up on the job. When the work was completed, he went the extra mile to re-caulk the fixture and the tub fill valve connection. Really excellent service from the minute I contacted the company via their online job scheduling process

We had a great experience. The plumber, Eddie Caballero, was extremely professional, honest and friendly. We found a plumber we will continue to the use in the future.

I had a water situation at the house Tuesday morning and had Abacus come out to the house to determine the issue. I called into their office and their dispatcher sent out someone as soon as they can. Lindell and Thomas arrived at my house and started to look for the issue which happens to be the water heater and it needed replacement. The quotation was for $1900.95 to have the electric water heater replaced and $450 for an electrical disconnect next to the water heater. The pricing was a little high but reasonable for the work that was explained. Once everything was good to go, Lindell and Thomas started to disconnect and remove the old water heater and installed the new water heater with new water lines and valves. Next, the electrician, Miguel, had arrived at the house and installed the electrical disconnect to the water heater and connect the electrical lines to the water heater itself. Once everything was installed, I was told to wait 45 minutes to an hour for the hot water heater to fully heat up. After an hour, I decided to take a shower and found out I had no hot water. I called Abacus again and got on the phone with Pamela and explained the situation. She said she would get back to me as soon as she can. About 45 minutes later, I did received a phone call from her explaining that she did get in contact with the technicians that were working on my house but were busy and asked if tomorrow morning worked. Unfortunately, there is an elderly person living at the house and that hot water is crucial which she understood and setup that the next available technician was to come by. About an hour later, Gregg arrived to the house and re-checked the installation which checked out okay. We opened up the new water heater and hit the reset button which was tripped initially for reasons unknown. Since that was strange to begin with, Gregg replaced the top and bottom thermostats in the new water heater to make sure that those items were not the culprit. Gregg then stayed after for 20 minutes to make sure that there was hot water before leaving. 30 minutes after, another electrician, Sigurd, arrived at the house to follow up and by then we had hot water. Overall, I did not have the best of experiences but I do believe it was an honest mistake and that Abacus did everything that they could to fix the issue. The technicians that came out to the house were very professional and the dispatchers in the office were very helpful when I needed them.

All parts were on the truck and replaced that visit, including 3 different options on the garbage disposal. The tech was very personable and explained everything he was doing and what options were available.

When looking on all the other positive review, I get the feeling that Abacus Plumbing has some ghost writers. But as always, one should not look at the positive reviews but rather on the negative one, which need of course also need to be read with a grain of salt. To my experience, we had a surprise water leak due to a corroded steel pipe and it happened to be on a holiday. I had trouble with the dispatcher because she did not want to send somebody out as long as I am not right at the phone?! After 2 h of waiting the plumber came and I showed him the leak (that I had already located) and his estimate was ~$550 for a single 2" steel pipe and top of the $150 for the driving. So me and my wife were stuck because we had to have repair done on that night. So we tried to talked to plumber explaining that he gets more than $300/h for this work and he justified it with "overhead". Later he felt sorry and replaced more old pipes (that did not had a leak) just to make it look better. PLEASE BE AWARE: DO NOT USE THEM!

I have used this company in the past and currently use them for air conditioning maintenance. They have always treated me well and done an excellent job. I called them for plumbing and electrical work. I wanted to update some items and had already purchased them. When the plumber arrived he was prompt, courteous and professional. He did advise me they were 20% more expensive than the competition. The price quoted was outrageously expensive and far above what I expected. My brother who has a contractors license was a shocked. I immediately cancelled the electrical quote after hearing these prices. The work was performed by another plumbing contractor on Angie's List and the cost was $900 less expensive.

After routine check found defects in water heater and toilet. Took the time to show pictures of defects. Arranged for parts to be brought to house and promptly fixed.
