I did not use Abacus since the representative they sent told me that I would have to pay $200 per leaky faucet (I had 2) which I thought was bad enough. Then he told me that I could only get that "deal" if I signed up for a service plan that would be an extra amount of money (I think it was $100 or more) that would do check ups on plumbing systems around my home routinely, such as drain my hot water heater once a year, etc. If I didn't sign up for the service plan, the leaky faucet repair would be $300 + EACH. I told him that was highway robbery
Description of Work: I did not use any services, since Abacus Plumbing was ridiculously expensive.

Response from Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electrical
Thank you for your feedback concerning a recent service call. I appreciate the opportunity to address your issues and hopefully to your satisfaction. While we don’t get many complaints, I take it very seriously when we do. I always want to be absolutely sure that every one of our potential clients and clients are treated fairly and they feel they’re receiving great value when they call us for service. As a straight forward pricing company, you were quoted the full price before any work would begin. This gives you two advantages right from the start. 1. Any work that is done is done on an as needed time frame. Another words, If it takes one hour our five hours it is still the same price, if we don’t have the part you don’t pay for it to be brought out or for us to go to the supply house. Yes with over 5,000 parts on our truck, it does mean that most repairs can be done on the spot. 2. All of our work comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. This is our way of saying “you can’t go wrong using Abacus Plumbing”. To even further separate our self from the crowd we want to ensure our clients are fully aware of their costs involved with a repair and to do this we always require customer authorization before work begins. This gives you the opportunity to decide if the work being done will fit within your budget. While we are not the cheapest, I feel we are honest fair and will always do what we say we will do when we say we will do it. I hope that I have given you a little more understanding of what and how we do business. But I won’t apologize for our price; it’s based on a formula that covers our overhead and field service costs, plus allows for a modest profit. Please understand that we charge what’s necessary to succeed in a very competitive business. If you choose to use us at a later date, I won’t change the price but I will promise to give you 100% satisfaction guaranteed. I hope you find this explanation satisfactory and I’d be thrilled to have your business in the future. Ron Bevins Operations Manager Abacus Plumbing

I called them on a Saturday because my sewer pipe was clogged. There was a real person answering the phone - not answering machine. Someone came out that day, and on time! Jason was very professional. He snaked the line and showed me the camera image where my sewer pipe was infiltrated with roots. He was very professional and efficient. Would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Snaked sewer cleanout to city sewer line. Fixed clogged drained.

I've used Abacus 3 times now. The first two times were basic unstop-the drain/sewer visits, but since we had an old concrete sewer line, they told us why we were having problems (settling segment ends and root interference cause backups). We chose to delay repair and just had them clean out the line the first two times. They did snake the line as well as camera it and were very informative about why we were having problems and how long of a delay to repair we might be able to achieve. Third visit: time to repair line. First guy cameraed the line, gave us estimate. Then they scheduled the crew to come out. I couldn't be happier with the people or the service. New sewer line took several days (plus we had rain). They take care of scheduling the inspector. They removed the sod and put it back when done (and took a lot of care with that part). Before you have heart failure over the price, we have a VERY long sewer line (180'), about twice the average. Even at an average sewer line length, they are probably not the least expensive company. However, I want my plumbing to work; I want the work done to code; and I don't want to have to worry about it. Choosing Abacus was the answer to all three of my goals. I would NOT choose a handyman/unlicensed contractor/etc. for this type of work...too risky. Plus, I had no hassles with scheduling the inspector, etc. And added benefit is that they also offer financing. It's not easy to find a company that you can trust. I like how they do business, and I like the people. I will definitely use them again if I have other plumbing issues (or when I need my water heater replaced), but I know I will not have issues with my new sewer line (but if I did, I know they would take care of it).
Description of Work: 1) unstopped plumbing 2) unstopped plumbing again (they warned us this would probably be necessary if we didn't fix the problem) 3) new sewer line to fix the problem

Brad was very professional, and only took him 20 minutes to solve the problem. I highly recommend ABACUS, for any future plumming problems. Brad was very kind and eager to identify and solve the plumming problem.. Please thank Brad for getting me out of a bind.
Description of Work: .Stopped up drain. The two people (handy-man) type couldn't identify the drain. They left the pipe open outdoors so the water, clean and dirty, was draining into the grass, leaving the job unfinished. It turned out to be an expensive job, but thankful that ABACUS sent Brad to quickly solve the problem.

First, after calling Abacus to schedule the call and telling them I had to shut off my water, it took 24 hours for them to get a plumber on site. Even after they called to alert me that a "technician" was en-route, it was one hour before he arrived. Next, before even assessing the problem the Technician attempted to sell a premier package of discounted services for one year. I was tempted to cancel at this time and pay the service fee of $49. We then evaluated the problem and I was given an estimate of $890. I protested that it was too high. I had had a similar service performed by John Moore, who is rated as being on the upper end of service costs for significantly less. I offered to show him the invoice for that work. The Technician the called a supervisor to attempt to lower the cost of the job. He came back with $ 800 fee which he said would include the $49 service fee. I signed the okay to start the work and reviewed the promotional material I was given. I found a coupon for a free service call for new customers which I was? In other words, I received no discounts. I had also printed a discount from the web site for a leak location service. They would not honor that one either and in fact the leak location service is a come-on since the plumber had no idea what I was talking about. In my opinion, the plumbing contractors are using rate schedules to control and maintain high cost of service. I had no problem with the Technician. He professional, personable, and careful.
Description of Work: I reported a water leak in a wall which I was able to stop by turning off the water. The "technician" (Abacus terminology) had to open the walls to locate and replace the leaking pipe. The old pipe was galvanized steel and was replaced with PEK? (poly-vinyl). The repair time took one hour. Total time on-site with sales time, problem evaluation and cleanup was two hours.

They wanted to sell me a tank less water heater. We considered it. They were definitely enthusiastic about it. My home would have had to been retrofitted for it for $8,000, and I wasn't ready to pay that much. They were very slick and aggressive with their sales pitch. They were clearly professional, competent, top of their game, but I just didn't need to go that route.

Thank you for the feedback. We try to give our customers all the options when solving their plumbing problems. We appreciate the comments about our professionalism and competency. May be a little unfair to call our technician slick, our goal is to educate our customers on all the options and help them make an informed decision. We find it impossible to be the cheapest guys in town and deliver the kind of award winning service we have always given. Our A's in every category except price in this case tell us we are on the right track. Again Thank You for the feedback. Alan O'Neill, Owner, Abacus Plumbing LLC.

Had a fowl smelling odor coming from our master bathroom. Aaron from Abacus Plumbing determined the leak was coming from either a vent in the attic or from an improperly installed toilet. I had Abacus fix the vent in the attic and re-install the toilet. Great work, but on the expensive side. I really appreciated that anytime the plumber came in the house he wore booties to protect my floors. I would definitely use Abacus again, but they are expensive compared to others.

I called Abacus this morning to replace my leaking water heater. I was told that the technician would take a look and provide a complete estimate. If I decided to go ahead with the work, they have water heaters available and could install it immediately. I was given a time frame of between 12 and 6 with a call 45 minutes to 1 hour prior to arrival. They did call, and acutally wanted to come earlier as they finished another job. Jimmy looked at my existing water heater and provided an estimate. They like to include an upgraded accessory module ($366) and and upgraded roof venting kit to accommodate it ($568). I just went with replacement of my water heater along with a new pan under it. The total estimate was $1985, but it was discounted to $1813 if I became a Diamond Club member. The $1813 did include $126 for the membership. This membership entitles me to some special discounts and services through the year. I appreciated the shoe covers and the careful protection of my flooring. The whole process took a few hours, part of that time was waitiing for the 2nd technician to arrive to help. I am very pleased with the work, but I do think the price is a bit high. I would definitely call them again.

The service was excellent. My plumber was Bob Connelly and I found him to be punctual, extremely knowledgable, honest and friendly . He did not try to upsell me or deliver services that I did not need. He carried the parts I needed on his truck and was efficient in his work. He also polished my kitchen sink and it looks better than ever.
Description of Work: Water was leaking from under kitchen sink. Problem diagnosed and new faucet installed. While on the service call, the serviceman checked to see if he could replace and match 2 master bath aerators, checked a running toilet, estimated what it would cost for a new water heater and visually give me thoughts on providing more lighting in my shower.

Overall the service was very good. They promptly responsed to our request for information and came to the house at the agreed time. The work was done in a professional manner and timely. Initially, there was a small difference of opinion on the price; however upon a minimal discussion, the vendor revised the billing to the expected value. I would use the vendor again.

We discovered the dishwasher emergency shut off valve was leaking when I was installing a new garbage disposal. Attempted to do it myself, but soon realized it was beyond my skill level. We called Abacus on Sunday evening and within an hour the technician (Ron) arrived. It was an emergency/after hours call, so it was on the higher side for the call charge. Ron replaced the valve quickily - less than an hour or so. All is working and no leaking.

I live in a 40 year old home and have periodic problems with the plumbing. This time, I could not shut the water off completely in the tub/shower in the master bathroom, and water had leaked behind the wall into the ceiling of the room below. The fixtures on the two sinks in the master bathroom were also not working properly, and one was completery unusable. I also thought the main water pipe into the house off the driveway was leaking. I have a home warranty, and the warranty company had sent someone out previously (not Abacus) for the problems with the tub and sinks. They supposedly "fixed" those problems, but they recurred after a short time. Abacus came highly recommended by friends amd family, so I called them. My homebuilder either failed to leave an opening through which to access the pipes in the master bathroom tub/shower or blocked the access with the built-in vanity. The plumber initially said he would have to cut into the sheetrock (thereby ruining the wallpaper) in order to fix the leak. However, he ultimately found he was able to fix the problem from the tub side of the wall. He replaced a section of pipe and put in new fixtures, which resolved that problem. He rebuilt the guts of the faucets on both bathroom sinks, which resolved the problems with them. He also checked the pipes in the tub/shower in the other upstairs bathroom (which had leaked previously and had been repaired by another company) to be sure they were not leaking. He determined they were fine. He also checked the main water pipe located on the side of the house to see if it was leaking and determined it was fine as well. While more expensive than many plumbing companies (and particularly one my home warranty company would have sent since I would have only had to pay a $65 service fee), I believe you get what you pay for. The plumber was very professional and pulled no punches. I was not thrilled at the prospect of him having to cut into the sheetrock and ruin the wallpaper, but he explained it might be necessary to correctly fix the problem. Fortunately, he ended up not haviing to do that, but I appreciate his honesty up front about the possible necessity of doing that to fix the problem correctly. He offered me a membership in their preferred customer club, the benefits of which seemed to outweigh the cost, so I joined. In doing so, I also received a discount on the work I had done. Someone from Abacus called me a week or so later to say they had discovered the plumber had inadvertently overcharged me by $50. I received a refund check within a few weeks. I would never have known the difference, so I was very appreciative of their honesty. II believe they do whatever it takes to do the job right instead of cutting corners in order to charge less. I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others.

He was ontime, polite. Did the job in a reasonable amount of time. Quick enough so you're not biting your nails wishing they'd get out of the house, but slow enough to know the work is being done carefully and thoroughly. I thought that the toilet should have been set in a straight line when it was resealed, it's only slightly offline but I am a stickler for things being perfectly straight. And I also felt the cost was too high by about 250.00. The finishing work was excellent: the caulking at the base was thorough and the seal hasn't leaked once. Abacus installed a water heater for me in August 2008. Maybe there was some miscommunication, but I did not end up with an energy efficient rated model which is what I had wanted. Otherwise work was done professionally and water heater works well.

The representative came out on a Sunday afternoon and took care of it. One funny thing about him was that he put his booties on even though there was no damage in the house. It was great that he came on a Sunday afternoon and especially made it to our house a day after the hurricane. We used him again in the spring because we had leaky faucets. The guy went through it and fixed it and he also went through our house to find any other problems if there were any. We had one set of bathroom fixture that had a bizarre part so he could not fix it. He found out the fixture and came out after 3 weeks and fixed it.
