It was horrible. My tenant signed up without my authorization via email. When the BMS technicians came out, she told them that they needed to contact me. They did not contact me. They performed some sort of A/C check, and the unit blew up two days later. They said it was a coincidence. They only offered a reduced rate for the compressor for $2200. This changed to $2250 somewhere in the multiple conversations. Since my tenant was without A/C, I went with this. I told them to leave the old unit, but they took it anyway, and I had to ask they to give it back. I was charged $2500 on my credit card and had to dispute that. It was finally changed. When I spoke with another reputable company, they told me that they needed my permission to work on it, and that if they had done something wrong, it could blow. I'm extremely unhappy.

Response from BMS Construction
I Received complaint from home owner resident that a couple of days after a tune up that the unit was not working. I Interviewed BMS the company that performed the tune up a. They supplied me with the tune up data of test in and test out measurements – system operating within target of tune up. b. Promised to return to job site to verify complaint, and diagnose system I confirmed with resident a. Resident told me that the system was working fine for a couple of days, then stopped working b. They (the neighbor and her) tried turning the main power off and on several times c. The last time a loud bang and smoke starting pouring out of the outdoor unit. BMS went to customers home a. Reported back that the electrical plug had blown out of the compressor I Confirmed findings with resident a. Advised that this could not be caused by the tune up procedures, and they would need to work with BMS or their HVAC company to resolve the issue The home owner [member name removed] now gets involved a. Blames BMS for the failure of the compressor b. That they did not have her permission to work on the A/C i. The enrollment from the retail Electric provider, the confirmation from our staff of the enrollment, and the e-mail sent all ask and state that we would need the owner’s permission to perform the tune up. ii. The tune up was offered by the utility provider as an incentive to renew the utility, and remain with the electric provider and was accepted by the consumer c. BMS was not aware that the resident was not the home owner After having this discussion with [member name removed] a. She claimed she would get with her renter and resolve the issue [member name removed] phoned me back and asked if there was anything we could do to help her out. I advised her I would get with BMS a. BMS agreed to replace the condenser at their cost for the unit, plus Freon, and labor to replace b. She declined, shopped around and then phoned back after several days c. She then accepted the offer from BMS In closure this was in my opinion a very generous offer from BMS to [member name removed]. I have been in the HVAC industry for 20 plus years, and have never seen a tune up cause an electrical plug in the compressor to fail. I know it’s a bad situation for the home owner, but I find fault in the previous installation and poor maintenance of the HVAC system. Which would be the responsibility of the renter and the home owner. Further after advising [member name removed] of the pricing that BMS offered she declined until finding out she could not find a better price, then accepts the offer. Afterwards complaining of the process and pricing of a deeply discounted Condenser replacement.
