United Mechanical Plumbing & AC

They were very responsive and turned up at the last minute of the allotted 2 hour time frame. We had a leak at the water meter and having 2 meters we showed them which one and went back 20 minutes later to find that they had dug up the wrong one. After clearing around the correct one the plumber said it was a town problem. When the town arrived and clarified (for the 3rd time which we had already informed the plumber) that the real problem was not theirs but their was a small leak on the town side which took about 10 mins to repair. Work finally began on the repair on our side which was replacing a 2 inch pipe and it was pretty obvious where the problem was because water was leaking heavily from there. The workmen pushed the time out to the max (2 hours). We got charged for all the time they were there including digging up around the wrong meter, waiting for the town (even though we told them it wasn't a town problem) and the 15 minutes the workmen spent talking to other contractors working at our house. We are unsure if the leak is fixed and are waiting for the irrigation people to recheck for us. At the time of making the appointment United wouldn't commit to a cost but just gave an hourly rate so we pretty much got what was expected when on an hourly rate. I would try somehow to get some commitment next time I get a plumber to come out.

The company was courteous on the phone and allowed me to discuss my concerns with one of their on-site experts. The conversation was pleasant, forthcoming, and informative. I decided to schedule a service call to have the unit checked out. They promised to call prior to arrival, and did so. They promised to be here within a 2 hour time frame, and did so. The tech was honest, thorough, knowledgeable, and willing to share his expertise with me. He didn't try to 'upsell' me on anything I didn't need or want. I'm very pleased with the company and will definitely hire them again should I have a/c needs I'm unable to take care of myself.

I've used United Mechanical several times in the past and have recommended them to others. I still will recommend them but I will make sure I explain about the cost. I had a clogged kitchen drain. It wasn't anything fancy, just the usual grease backup. I had already trouble shot it and knew it was past the p-trap. He got his machine and snaked it out in about 10-15 minutes. He did spend some time telling me about enzymes, which I appreciated. He was nice, personable, tidy, quick.... but seriously, $167 for that? I looked at the bill and it had the standard house call amount, $60, then 1/2 work at $60 I think, maybe a tad more. And then it actually had a fee for the use of the 'machine'. It was a simple tote it into your house turn it on snake, nothing big deal. I've seen it used many times before in my house. The fee for that was something like $30. I have to admit I really thought the total would be cheaper. That seems high for something that minor.

I have had to have some minor leaks fixed on my hot water heat. Over time plumbers had commented it looked like it wasn't going to last. I think I had a roof leak that dripped down onto the top of it and caused it to rust. It was over 10 years old and I decided to replace it before it busted and flooded the room. It is located in a hall closet inside the house. I had United Mechanical give me an estimate, another plumbing service come out and price it. I priced one at Home Depot. They all came in close to the same amount. My heater had a 10 year warranty and I did enough reading to know the heaters with a longer warranty are more insulated, made a bit better. The shortest warranty time I saw on one was 5 years. I wasn't very worked up about what kind of hot water heater as I hadn't had any problems with hot water heaters in my past. Quite honestly I felt better about using the service I used in the past, since the price was so similar. I trusted they'd take care of it and I'd be pleased. They came when they said they would. The dealt with the city permit. They did a fine good. But I was very surprised to see I now have a hot water heater with a 4 year warranty. I didn't even know they made them with less than a 5 year warranty. I assumed that United Mechanical would take good care of me and wouldn't put such a poor quality hot water heater into my house without at least discussing it with me first. It probably will be fine, but I feel like I will have to deal with yet another hot water heater in a few years. If I do I can easily say I won't use United Mechanical again to replace it. The one from Home Depot with the similar price was a 15 year warranty hot water heater. Live and learn.

They are very good, and very competent. I was able to get them to come out on a Saturday or Sunday for an emergency. They were not cheap; but they were good. They were available on the weekend.

They never do anything that doesnt absolutely need to be done. They are always out to give you the best service for the best price.

They are great. I am a real estate agent, so I recommend them on different jobs. I recommended on a job in the last 30 days. They have always done a great job. I think that their pricing is very reasonable. I would continue to use them because of their courtesy, pricing and because they just do a really good job.

They were alright. They knew what they were doing. They were responsive, punctual and professional. I would use them again in the future.

Had asked another company to fix furnace. Other company suggested furnace replacement to the tune of 7k. United Mech was a "second quote"; they came, they looked, they agreed the unit was older, and gave both a quote (1000 less) to replace and the suggestion that the part might be the only problem. Chose to fix not replace. Technician was clearly very familiar with repair. Second good experience with this company. First time, inquired about installing a gas stove in my house. They came, reviewed the ways to run the gas line to the kitchen. They told me it possible, explained how and then said was really too expensive to make it worth it. Unusual to have a firm talk a client out of major job. I remembered that and called them when we needed a second opinion.

Everything with them is super! He is always prompt, knowledgeable and professional. We have the same man to service our unit, so we are comfortable and familiar with him. We would suggest United Mechanical to other Angie's List members.

Owner had water damage. It appeared to come from above the damaged unit. Because it leaked into common property, the HOA called the plumber to discover the leak and determine who was responsibile for the leak. The leaking pipe was 20 inches into and from the common wall for hallway. I was impressed that they could repair in very tight constricted area.

As the summer heat set in, this year, my air conditioner was not cooling adequately. I called United Mechanical on a Monday morning. The CS rep offered to send someone later that afternoon, but since it wasn't an emergency, I asked for the earliest morning call available. She scheduled my service call first thing Wednesday morning. The United technician arrived at around 8:30 am, Wednesday. He found that the system was low on freon and traced the leak to the evaporator coil. He recharged the system with freon and said the coil needed to be replaced. He then scheduled the work at my convenience. A separate crew of two men returned first thing Friday morning. They worked all morning and finished around 12:30. After they were finished one of them explained everything that they had done and added that they had found that evaporation drain was clogged and gave me advice on how to prevent that from occurring in the future.

When my sewer line was clogged with roots, I called United with an accumulated list of things that I needed done. As always, the United Mechanical staff was prompt and professional. One man did the sink and toilet work, while a crew of two cleared the sewer line. All the work was done in two hours.

That's all I have done with them. When we first scheduled the appointment, they had to reschedule twice. They called me and were very apologetic and explained why they had to reschedule. They were great on that. They came out and looked at everything and gave me a reasonable quote. I think they did a great job. I think I am going to move forward with the water heater with them.

They're very professional and knowledgable. They are also extremely responsive. I trust that they know what they're doing. Trust isn't always an easy thing to come by in this area of business.

They had come in last year to fix the furnace and to secure the bolts but they fastened it so tight that I could not fix it myself this year. I needed to special tool to unfasten it. I called them again to fix it but I didn't want to pay them this time. They fought with me on this and they reversed the charge later. They disappointed me. I would have not called them if they had not fastened it so tight. They were courteous and polite the first time they came. I would not use them again.

They did a very good job. They were professional and punctual. Their quality of work was great.

I needed them to come out around Memorial Day and they were the only company who would come out and do the work for me. The gentlemen who came out were very talkative and friendly. They did a drawing of the work to be done and gave us a estimate. The work actually came out to be less than the estimate was. They were a lot more accurate and cost affordable. I think that they did a good job.

I've used them a couple of times and they've been excellent. They're very professional. They were careful with the installation. They came exactly on time and did exactly what they said they would. After the job was done, they sent another person to check over the work. I feel like they were a little bit pricey but it was well worth it.

I reviewed Angie's list for a new plumber. Not only did I need a decent plumber but I particularly needed a plumber to help me troubleshoot my soggy front yard. I am SO glad I used United Mechanical. They were everything you could ask for. I have tried several other plumbers over the years and found none even close to this level of service. Yes, they were a bit more pricey but not that much and overall they were worth it. They were very knowledgeable. When I found out it was going to be expensive they helped me figure out my best option and were happy to the job however I chose. They were even concerned about my landscaping! When I called the receptionist was very responsive and kind. I got a call very quickly and unlike my previous plumber experiences I didn't have to draw them a picture or hope against hope they'd actually fix the problem. They fixed it and not only that they saw that my outside faucet wasn't working and replaced it quickly and cheaply. Mind you I have had one out back done and it cost me quite a bit since they tore open a brick wall to replace the entire faucet. These guys knew just the Home Depot item to buy and just put it on and it was GREAT. I recomended them to my mother who was just as happy as I was. They gave her a SENIOR discount also. So I've seen their work twice now and plan on calling them tomorrow for some help with my shower pan.
