Flooring Direct

Overall I lean just to the "bad" side of neutral. The end product looks good and was done for a price that we felt was competitive, for which I would have given them a B or an A; but there were several soft costs that came in the form of increased blood pressure, headaches, etc. that pulled me back to slightly dissatisfied. Communication (or lack thereof) was by far the biggest headache. Our original salesperson was fine, but after taking our money everything went silent for several days; we had to call in to see what was happening only to find out the guy had been fired. Then we were assigned a project manager who gave us a one week timeline for the project, which we built several other projects around; he then stopped responding all the way up until the first day of the project which left us concerned if a crew was even coming out - turns out he had also been fired AND the project was going to take a minimum of 2 weeks instead of 1, which completely threw off our other projects. As things progressed we reached out to get a sense for timing, but all questions took at least a full 24 hours if not 2 or 3 days to get a response (if at all). And it seemed like what we discussed with our new project manager hardly ever made its way to the crew that actually showed up. All of this put the overall experience at the D or F range, but they ended up giving us new base boards to say sorry, which pulled them back to a C. Even then, the base board installer missed a spot and it took them two weeks to send him back out again, at which point our painter was already gone so now we're going to have to pay him to come back out to finish. We understand that stuff comes up in projects like this (I didn't even mention a few that happened to us because it wasn't Flooring Direct's fault), but poor communication is both extremely important and absolutely in their control; my overall grade is meant to reflect their poor performance in that area.

The floor preparation work that was done was subpar and I have over 30 hollow spots. I previously had Nebraska Furniture Mart come out to install hardwood floors. They did a poor job and after fighting with them for over a month, they refunded my money and ripped up the floors. I told my salesman Steve, who I really liked about my experience and he suggested that I speak to the owner. Dan stated that NFM used the wrong trowel and that I will not have hollow spots. My installer also said that I won't have any problems after I told him my previos problems. After the installers finished the first room, I stood at the door without walking into the room and checked for hollow spots. There were a few massive spots. I called FD and spoke to Dan and another person. I asked them to come back after the glue dries so that I can evaluate their work. After staying off the floors for 24 hours, I checked the floors and my new floor was 90% due to the hollow spots. I called back to cancel the install on the second room. It was very difficult to talk to anyone. It was like I was ignored until they were good and ready. They have professional staff that wasn't rude but when there is a problem, you won't get much traction. Long story short, I have a room with over 30 hollow spots, which I have to live with where I paid full price. FD did take back the unused product after I delivered it to them. Their truck broke down so I was happy to deliver it to them. FD says that they followed industry standards but the fact is that I have a hardwood floor install that was subpar. If you get hardwood floors installed, make sure whoever installs your floor preps your floor properly.

First, we moved everything out of my mother's room, except for her bed, on Sun evening and woke up for 5:00 am, on Mon in anticipation of an 8:00 am install. At 8:30 we received a phone call from Claire stating that the installer was sick. That's the first problem. Do you not have any back up crews? Are your installers a one man team?? What kind of business operates in this manner? Monday, after receiving the news that the floors were not going to happen on this day, we moved my mother's necessities BACK into her room. She slept in a lounge chair last night. This morning, Tues, my mother woke up at 6:00 am and was sick. Finally got her situated, and once again MOVED EVERYTHING out of her room AGAIN! 8:30 rolled around and no installers. I called Flooring direct and was assured by Kelly that the installers were coming. Tick, tock, tick tock, 9:45. No installers. I called back because by this point I am getting nervous that perhaps we have been passed by again. I spoke with Claire this time. She assured me that the installer was on his way and that he had just left 15 mins ago. Her explanation was that he got a late start. This is pathetic. Needless to say, at this point I was extremely upset and voiced this to Claire. I would think that if you cared anything about your customers, you would've had a crew out here at the crack of dawn! Obviously this is not the case and clearly you have too much business to worry about a one bedroom peon job like mine.

Flooring Direct was wonderful from the start! Their representative was on time and had just the right selection of carpets to choose from. Then he delighted us by giving a very reasonable estimate for one of their top quality carpets. We decided to go ahead with them and the carpet was installed a few days later. The installation team was on time and very professional. They went right to work and got it done in a day. They hauled off the old carpet and tidied up their work areas. Our new carpet looks lovely and feels great underfoot. They did a terrific job and we are very pleased. In fact, we are going to have them come back next week and show us some samples for laminate in the kitchen and bathroom!

It went great. I love my new floors, they are beautiful. Salesmen very professional, don't try to up sell you on stuff you don't need. Installers very courteous and treated my furnishings with care.

The crafts men performing the work were timely, and cleaned up afterwards. They adjusted the trim and pointed out issues.

We were very impressed by the sincere interest that Flooring Direct had in making sure that we were very satisfied. We met with the Sales Manager at the office and she was so very helpful and was always available afterward for questions. The Project Manger came out after that and we looked at different options and this guy really helped us and actually we decided to get a less expensive product as a result - it fit our budget and we realized that we didn't need that other option. Then came install. Well, the installers didn't realize how much furniture we had and as a result had to work some extra hours. We were a little concerned about whether or not they would be able to do the job without perhaps "cutting some corners" (ha, never thought that terms would actually be used literally!). They worked their tails off. They left pretty late on the second night which was the last night. I thanked them and they left. The next day I noticed a few items that I was concerned about. We had not had carpets replaced in many years so i wasn't sure if we was over reacting. I called the office and they sent a supervisor out who was very professional and fixed the edge of the carpet next to the ceramic tile by doing something with a straight edge that I could have done and now know about. For the other two items, he contacted the same crew who came back and fixed a couple of stairs which were originally done "ok" but needed straightening up a bit. They also fixed a little cut seam that was showing by a wall on the first floor. These were the only issues out of an extremely large footprint. They fixed it quickly and professionally and took a few pics of them with our dogs and left. We spent a lot of money on this project but we have a VERY large footprint - so I wanted to make sure it was done right. It was. They took care of us making sure that we were very satisfied. Now, about the carpet itself - we, and our neighbors, LOVE IT! One other thing.... This company has a very good and simple business model. Good Price, Good Service, Good referrals = more business. Simple and effective and it's certainly our case.

Our whole experience from start to finish was fabulous. The sales man, Chris gave us exactly what we wanted without overselling. The installers were fast and did more than we expected; excellent service. We are extremely satisfied.

Pedro & Hector did a great job! They worked very hard were here early stayed late. Did amazing job taking up floors & putting new floor sing. Professional and meticulous some of the hardest workers I've seen and didn't cut any corners.

I told the operator who set my appointment that I needed hardwood floor work done. The sales representative they sent to my house said that he was not a hardwood rep, so he was not able to give an estimate, and that a hardwood rep would be in touch with me the next day. He also did not leave me a card, so I did not have his contact information. Nothing happened. Six days later, I emailed flooring direct to see what was taking so long. The flooring direct rep responded to my email and mistakenly included me on an intra-company email and stated that the notes that the rep. took for me stated "that the guy was unemployed." I emailed her back to see what exactly that had to do with me getting an estimate, and I wanted to talk to the owner. No effort was made by the owner or a manager to contact me. All I heard from was another sales representative. I feel like the original sales rep dropped the ball on me because he thought I couldn't afford the work because I was unemployed. The fact that he took notes on my employment status is both bewildering and discriminating. I am taking care of stuff on the house while I am in between jobs, and my wife is employed, and we are using a home equity loan to pay for the work. Terrible experience. You know what they say about making assumptions.

My call was routed quickly, and Tom called and made an appointment to come to our house with samples matching our interests. He did come to our house and was on time and professional. However, we decided to also go out to the showroom in order to see more samples and make a final decision. The showroom was professional looking and organized well. We had previously visited another carpet showroom in the area which was much less professional looking and very disorganized. We had a better feeling about Flooring Direct because of the showroom and because of our salesman, Tom. We had the carpet and bathroom vinyl installed separately from the office laminate. They did a good job, did it quickly, and cleaned up after themselves. We then painted the office a different color than we had planned on and so asked Tom to come back out with some samples of wood grain laminate to match it. The laminate we chose picks up the color of the walls and looks great. My only complaint is that they didn't follow through and contact me with the contact information for the carpet cleaning company which they recommend. But otherwise, it was a good experience.

It didn't. Called an hour into when they were supposed to be here and said ooops, installer went to wrong installation job, can we come tomorrow. No, no you can't. I have to make special arrangements to stay home from work. So, will have to wait another week and see if they can get it right and make further arrangements. I will change/add to my review depending on how it goes. I paid in advance so kinda stuck.

Everything went as expected..contractors cleaned up afterwards very well.

Went very well. I love that they come to your house and bring samples so you can see what each different sample would look like against paint colors, furniture, etc. Salesman was very nice and helpful - not interested in making the most money, but making us get the right product for us.

The actual work is passable though some of the tiles are so uneven that I scrape my foot if barefoot. Unfortunately the price increased by about 60% after the old floors were torn out. The primary reason was that they needed to tape (yes tape, not level or mud) a series of hairline cracks in the slab. The other major contributor was the discovery that the tiny baseboards in the guest bath somehow surprised them and required addition of a new baseboard rather than grouting to the edge as discussed. I am also unhappy with their approach to the step down from the entry to the living room. The corner seam is just grout in a heavy traffic area. It cracked within the week. Their response was to put flexible caulk in the seam. It has already pulled loose in one spot.

Great - they completed the job in 2 days and explained what they were going to do.

Wonderful the guys were prompt clean and polite.

They arrived on time and began working; taking up old carpet & pad installed new pad and carpet.

Arrived early prepared area. Wood arrived, installed and complete following day.

The service was phenomenal. This gentlemen have an outstanding work ethic. They squared in a 2 day job into 1. Working over 12 hours and I didn't request it. Will highly recommend this company and their respective staff to anyone.
