Don't contact him if you live in a mid or high rise. He won't come. Also, he does not install disposals. He said that would require a plumber with a plumber's credentials.

The refrigerator was spilling water onto the floor every 3 or 4 days. Dave found and cleared a plugged drain line -- extracting a couple of rusty screws. He also answered a couple of other questions -- about a broken ice-maker component and the express thaw drawer sticking -- which i appreciated. He was friendly and helpful and could relate stories/statistics from others owning same brand/model refrigerator.

Dave got back to me very promptly and came the next day to repair my dishwasher. He was right on time, and his price was very competitive compared to other quotes.

He is awesome. He always tells the truth about repair vs. purchase. He is very good at telling you what your best long-term solution is. He won't encourage you to fix something if it needs to be replaced. He knows appliances very well.

So, yes, Dave did repairs. No, they didn’t work …. But I do not feel it was his fault whatsoever! He was very honest with me on the low possibility that it could be repaired at a reasonable cost. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would immediately call Dave at Star Appliance Service for any future appliance repair need. Dave was great to work with and I highly recommend his services. For someone like Dave it seems the A rating just isn't high enough.

Our freezer side of the refrigerator was having trouble making ice and had escalated to over-flowing the ice tray, so that the water dribbled down forming icicles everywhere the water touched. I thought I had solved the issue using my hair blower to melt the ice, but the next morning it had returned again. I then checked on Angie's list and choose Star Appliance Service. I called them around 8 am on Tuesday and David answered, it was so refreshing to be able to understand what he was saying when he spoke. I described the problem and he immediately asked if my freezer had a turn off switch for the ice maker and when I checked it did and he told me to move it to "off". He came the very same day between the time he gave me, calling when he was about 20 minutes away (which was very helpful getting our dog ready for company). He saw the ice maker needed replacing and had the required replacement in his truck. Within a short time my freezer was performing as it should and David was great at answering questions and fitting me into his days work schedule. Thank you David.

It was great! He fixed my stove and it works like it should. And now I know what was wrong with my dishwasher and I appreciated that he told me it could not be permanently repaired and would cost more to have someone come out and fix it every couple of weeks. The panel was bad and it couldn't be repaired or replaced.

He removed oven from wall, replaced the chip, cleaned up and was out within an hour. Very professional. Would definitely use him again

The first time he came was a simple fix of defrosting my entire refrigerator. The second time he pronounced our freezer dead. The ants had fried some eletrical components. Other than loosing all of our wild game it was a painless process.

My dishwasher was not draining. I contacted Star Appliance and he happened to be near by but said he would stop by to give me an estimate. David as at the house within 20 mins. It turned out to be something minor, cleaned the drain at my sink. He was in and out in less than 15 mins and the problem was fixed. He only charged me for the service call. He was very prompt and honest. Great experience!!!! Thank you Star Appliance!!!

My dryer and dishwasher were both not working properly. I had previously had someone in here to look at my dishwasher, but decided to get a second opinion on it. I looked on Angie's list and found this company and realized I had actually used this company some years ago. The reviews were very positive and so I called on 3/14/2012. I spoke directly to David and he had time to come over within the next few hours. Unfortunately, I was not available and we made the appt. for the next morning between 10a.m. and 12p.m. He rang my bell at about 10:30 and looked at the dishwasher first. He listened to what I said it was doing, which sounded like a freight train coming through and he turned the washer on for about 1 minute. He immediately said, you need a new motor and it would be more cost effective to buy a new dishwasher. Done! He then went to my dryer, which also sounded like a freight train, he opened it, turned the drum manually and said it was the blower wheel, not the drum as I had thought. David quoted me $179.00 to fix it (that would make his $59.00 service call not be applicable) and he had a blower wheel in the car, which was a surprise to me. He replaced it, put it all back together again and there was quiet once again. I paid the bill, asked him for a card, he gave me a refrigerator card, I was happy and he left. You can see he has 'the knack' for this sort of thing and I was very pleased all the way around. I would definitely call David again when the next thing breaks.

My refrigerator and freezer quit working. I called Star and they had someone out within 30 minutes (not that I expected that quick of a response). The service rep was very nice and professional. He inspected the unit and explained that the motherboard was fried, and tried to help me determine if I had had any recent power surges (I don't think so). He and I went over the pros and cons of repair vs. replace, and as I wasn't very happy with the unit (it had been purchased by a tenant when I lived overseas 2 years ago), I decided buy a new unit. I was extremely pleased with their service.

We were impressed with his honesty and knowledge, and we would use him again.

He was extremely prompt, called before he came, told me the cost before hand, and was extremely friendly. The price was very good too.

They came out right away, replaced the part, and now it works like new!

He came out and tried to fix my refrigerator that died. He also repaired a ice maker line and a thermostat on my electric dryer. He's always on time and he knows his appliances.

My thirty year old cook top had developed a problem with my favorite burner. It only worked sporadically and shot sparks when it did work. Star Appliance (David) responded quickly to my phone call, and, in fact, came the next day to do the repair. He had all the necessary parts with him and had it back to full functionality within an hour of his arrival. I couldn't be any happier with the quality of the work that was done and the professional manner of Mr. Messick (Dave).

Everything was excellent about this company and the service.

Repaired GE Dishwasher, actually it only needed to be adjusted from an inproper installation and also someone had used regular dish soap. Fair price for correcting another service provider's stupidity.

Now I know that washing a dog bed in home washing machine is not the best thing to do. The fabric ripped, and the stuffing went into the plumbing part of the washer. Dave knows his stuff. Within 30 minutes of his expert attention, it was happily working again. But then...it stopped up again. The water wouldn't drain out of the tub a second time. Dave was at the house within an hour to work his magic at no extra charge.

He is very professional, prompt, and helpful. Their price is very reasonable. He is willing to even help you out over the phone.

Dave returned my call promptly and scheduled to come out at my convience. He diagnosed the problem quicklyand gave me a price for repair. He made the necessary two repairs quickly. He had the needed parts with him. I was pleased. Dave does a good job.

Could not have been a better experience all the way around. I was very impressed with the company.
