 + -1 moreDryer is vented through the roof. Over time lint had built up in the vent pipe. The service technician arrived on time and was done in under an hour. He even offered to sweep the pine needles from the roof while he was up there. I couldn't be happier with the service.

 + 0 moreHe was on time and was very careful to clean out the fireplace without making any dust in the house. He did a great job repairing the fireplace. He gave me the option of replacing or repairing the inner lining, I opted for repair which worked out fine and was cheaper. He went above and beyond in sealing our roof vents against more rodent damage and also sealed so their were no leaks.
Description of Work: Billy Little did a great job cleaning out our chimney and repairing the inside of the fireplace. He was also very helpful when inspecting our outer chimney, while on the roof I asked him about our vent pipes which the squirrels had chewed - he sealed every one of them so that the squirrels would not longer chew on them. We are very pleased with his work.

dryer vent cleaning
 + -1 moreThe contractor arrived on time and knew exactly what to do. Unfortunately, he seemed in a hurry and left some clean up for me. He went on the roof to clean the vent, and promised to close and lock our gate (he didn't). Also, there was a lot of large lint pieces (up to football-size) in my yard that he didn't clear up. He then tried to sell me on A/C vent cleaning and had a look in two vents and the air return vent. These were clean (as I expected) and he didn't do anything further. After he left I found that the A/C filter had been put back upside down and one of the vents he removed was left partially closed; requiring me to get out my ladder to get things back to normal. He was a nice guy and fixed what he came to fix, it's just he seemed in a hurry.
Description of Work: Cleaned out the vent from my clothes dryer. Went on the roof to clean the vent, and went into the attic to unblock a vent fan.

 + 0 moreGuardian Chimney Sweep was very thorough. The work was done by the owner of the company. He inspected the inside of the chimney and the outside from top to bottom. He cleaned the inside of the chimney and rearranged the gas logs to create an even flame and added more glow fiber to create an even look of burning embers. He was very neat and clean using drop cloth and vaccum and made sure everything was clean before he finished. He also verified everything was OK by lighting the gas logs to make sure there was an even flame. He then proceeded to clean all of the outside roof gutters.
Description of Work: 1. Inspected and cleaned the chimney. Rearranged the gas logs and added additional glow fibers at no additonal cost. 2. Cleaned all gutters

 + 2 moreI called Chimney Sweep a day or so after purchasing the deal. The lady on the phone was quite friendly. She asked if a 2 hour window was okay for the next Saturday. It was, so we finalized it. The gentleman that was to come out called 5 minutes into the 2 hour window and apologized for being a little late - he wasn't even late! He told me he was on his way. He arrived and got to work. He was a super nice guy. He checked the air ducts and cleaned the chimney. We signed the already-paid invoice, shook hands and he was gone. We will definitely use them in the future for ANY chimney needs!!

 + -1 moreAppointment was easy to set up. The owner arrived on time and went right to work. I have off white carpet in my living room and very light walls. The owner carefully protected the areas and upon completion there was no trace of soot, dirt or stain anywhere. The owner thoroughly inspected both fireplaces before beginning the work. The job was thorough and complete. I was pleased that he took the time to explain everything that he was going to do and upon completiion he explained everything he had done.
Description of Work: I used an Angie's List coupon for this service and had 2 chemnies cleaned.

air duct cleaning
 + -1 moreIt started out not so well totally due to my own neglect. I was waiting for them to come out and begin the work, but they didn't show. Come to find out although I talked to them about their services, I didn't set a date or a place. After we got the misunderstanding on my part squared away, they were gracious to come out and clean all my vents. In the process of the cleaning, they discovered that the vents were not properly sealed in the attic and I was cooling the attic instead of my rooms. The previous air conditioning service supposedly fixed any leaks so my cooling bills would not be so high. Guardian checked everything and made everything right. They were professional and thorough. I would highly recommend Guardian for they truly know how to treat a customer, and they believe in giving the best possible service. Triple A rating.
Description of Work: Guardian came out and cleaned all my ducts and eliminated any mold.

 + -1 moreWe bought our home two years ago and have not used the fireplace because its condition was unknown. The sweep did a great job brushing out and vacuuming the soot. The damper was jammed shut. He was able to get it free and lubricate it without additional cost. Am very glad we had him out.

 + 0 moreWe've lived in this house 4 years and never had the dryer vent cleaned professionally. The laundry 'room' is very small and despite my cleaning the pull-out vent in the dryer every week, I was concerned about what might be building up in the vent to the outside. Our dryer vent goes up inside the wall and across the attic and vents out of the chimney. As it turns out, the vent was not secured in the chimney and they fixed that for us too! I'm very happy with the work and now feel much safer when using my dryer, knowing that it is venting properly. I would definitely recommend them for any job they do. They were very courteous and helpful from the time I set the appointment to the completion of the job. That's the kind of people we like doing business with.
Description of Work: Cleaned dryer vent hose, including securing it to the chimney where it vented. We had not cut the vent hose behind the dryer and adjusted it for correct size. They gladly fixed that for us too.

 + -1 moreRecently moved into a "middle-aged" townhouse with a wood-burning fireplace and a very tall chimney. Because I knew nothing about the history of what had been burned in the fireplace previously, or the condition of the inside of the chimney, I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal Coupon to have chimney cleaned. John from Guardian arrived with protective cloths for hearth and living room floor and very interesting tools. He explained what he was doing and why. His work was very neat. After dislodging a considerable amount of soot and ash from chimney, John showed me where metal plate on rear wall of fireplace had burned through to stones from which chimney is constructed. John suggested a safe method to repair this problem and make the chimney safe to use. He told me the cost. I agreed, and he performed the work, which was done very neatly. I was pleased with the outcome and happy to know I can use the fireplace now without worrying about damage to my townhouse.
Description of Work: John from Guardian Chimney Sweep cleaned chimney, then showed me where rear metal plate previously had burned through to stones actual chimney made from. Suggested a repair approach that would be safe and inexpensive. When I agreed, he performed that repair.

 + -1 morePurchased the Angie's List special. Emailed and followed up with a telephone call. The service was scheduled promptly. I was given a telephone call when the service person was on his way. He did arrive a little late but it was due to traffic and no fault of his. The chimney was cleaned quickly and efficiently, best of all there was no additional clean up needed on my part! (I am a fussy housekeeper) A visual inspection of the chimney cap was done and provided verbally to me. Additional recommendations for fireplace care were also given. I was very pleased with the special, the scheduling, the work and the professionalism of the company. I would not hesitate to call them for future fireplace needs.
Description of Work: Chimney cleaning and visual inspection of chimney cap (from ground). Also had a smoky smell in a closet in a bedroom above the ground floor fireplace and he did look in the closet and gave some ideas on what could cause it should it not go away after the cleaning.

The technician arrived on time, answered my many questions, cleaned out my dryer vent, inspected the vent for my gas fireplace, and fixed the gas fireplace. We just bought our house and I hadn't tried to turn the fireplace on yet, so I didn't even know it wasn't working. He fixed the switch, showed me how it all worked, and was very patient with all my new homeowner questions. My dryer works much faster now and I my fireplace works and is safe! He finished cleaning the vent in less than 30 minutes, and I appreciated that he did not lecture me about the huge amount of lint that was in the line, which the previous owners probably never had cleaned. He offered to have a reminder sent to me next year to have the cleaning done again, and I will definitely use this company for that.

 + -1 moreMy husband and I were very pleased with Mr. Little and plan to use him again. This is a service that we usually have done once a year. But we were not pleased with the other Chimney Sweep that we had used several times in the past. We are very glad to find Guardian Chimney Sweep.
Description of Work: Mr. Little arrived at the time that we were given. He checked both of our fireplaces. We were having trouble with a free standing fireplace throwing black smoke back into the room. He cleaned out the pipe that vented the smoke. We had another Chimney Sweep here to do that job 2 years ago but apparently he had not done a very good job because we had the same problem last winter. We were thinking that we would need to replace the fireplace. But after all the residue that Mr. Little cleaned out of the vent, we are planning to give it a try again this winter. He cleaned up any mess (which wasn't much) that was made and left the area as it was before. He checked another fireplace that we have in our dinning room that we had given up on and found it to be in great working order. He checked the height of our vents above our roof line and found that with the freestanding unit we were just barely above the correct height. We will have that corrected at another date. He was professional, neat, and quiet. When I made the appointment over the phone, the person answering the phone was very pleasant and enjoyable to deal with.
