When I phoned Glassdoctor this annoying beeping sound occurred once I spoke with an agent. It was extremely creepy. I realize that many inbound call centers do record for training purposes - but not every single call. This leads me to believe they have had some serious litigation - because only an organization that has had litigation goes to the expense of recording every single incoming call. Note that I've worked in call center environments - and recording and maintaining calls is an expensive proposition. Generally a call center agent, manager or others can choose to record calls but leaves that up to the individual's discretion. The agent said she couldn't turn off the capability. I'd just be leery - I know I am - when someone records what I do. The assumption that only guilty people have something to be afraid of in our litigious society is entirely farcical.

We had a tennis ball break a single pane window in our garage. I called Glass Doctor and described the situation. I estimated that the size of the window was 3 x 3 (36 in. x 36 in.). They told me that a guy could be out in a week to fix the window between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. They also said that the cost would be between $170 and $190 for the repair. The guy showed up today about 4:00 p.m. (which is not a great big deal), but then he measured the window and said he would get me a price. What? I already had a price ($170 - $190). The window turned out to be 28 in x 28 in ( smaller than what I estimated) and the price he quoted turned out to be $232 ($40 - $60 above what was quoted to me). I told him about my prior quote and he asked if I told them it was a putty seal, as if there is another kind - or at least an easier kind. Anyway, with the guy here, and having waited a week and an extra hour to get him here, and needing the repair, I agreed. They guy did a fine job, but I feel like I got the old bait and switch on price. Granted, in the scheme of things it is not that much, but it irritates me when service folks do this kind of stuff. Glass Doctor repairs windows every day and should know exactly what the job will cost, so I expect that it will cost what they quote me. This just feels very low end. So, congrats Glass Doctor - you shook me down for 40 extra bucks, but you lost all of my future business. Hopefully, you guys will see this and repair the thing that needs repairing the most - which is your business / pricing approach. Do the job for what you quote.

Our town experienced a severe hail storm last night leaving an extremely high number of residents without windows. I asked for an estimate to be performed and was informed of a $50 non refundable fee. The fee would be deducted if they were hired to perform the work. Not desirable, but workable. I was asked how I would be paying the fee, to which I offered cash or check. I was told by Laura "they" were only accepting credit card number over the phone. My first reaction was why would you ask if there was only one option, instead I expressed my concern of not being comfortable providing this type of information over the phone. Claiming she understood, I opted not to deal with this company. My reason for writing this is to share my experience during a time of crisis, a company should understand the last thing any consumer wants to do is add to their already elevated stress levels, so why push for what appears to be an easy way to add extra income to their bottom line during a stressful time. Consumers need help, not another avenue to price gouge. Please consider this when making your decision. We come looking for assistance, not providing additional income at the mercy of a homeowner. Needless to say, my business will be taken elsewhere.
Description of Work: Nothing. I wanted to pass on the experience I had with this company as a side note for future consumers.

I did not hire this company. I had three other companies come out and give me a bid. ALL three were priced at about $175 and had a 10 year warranty included in that price. ALL three didn't expect any money down and said full payment was due once work was completed. This whole ordeal has taught me a valuable lesson when replacing glass in windows.
Description of Work: Antonio came out and gave me a quote of 327.80 to replace a 30x40 window glass. When I said I thought the price was a little high, he told me he'd check with his manager to see if there was anything to lower the price. He then came back to the door with a price of $250.00. Said there was a lifetime warranty of $35.00 included in that price. Without the lifetime warranty, there would only be a 1 year warranty. I told him I would think about it. Got a call a few days later from the company asking what they could do to get my business. I told Jesse I was skeptical about using them because of the pricing. He seemed surprised and said his records showed a price of $215.00 and that also included the lifetime warranty. I told him the whole story and that my paperwork said $250 including the warranty. He said he'd honor the $215 with the warranty included. Both Antonio and Jesse told me I'd have to pay 50% up front and the balance once the work was done.

Glass Doctor guys were great! Very professional and they know their craft. Estimator was also the installer and he was very professional and meticulous in his installation. He took care to cover the floor and cleaned up afterwards. My windows are out of square due to settling issues in my building, and Jeff Joseph took the time to measure and cut the panes out of square to exactly fit the out of square frames. That is way above and beyond what the typical contractor does. Thank you Glass Doctor.

I just had to post about the excellent service provided by this company. I called at 8am yesterday morning about a window pane I broke. The scheduler was great to deal with, and was able to work me in for end of day. They called twice to let me know the exact time of arrival (which was accurate.) My glass turned out to be an odd thickness, and the technician made a special trip back to the office to get the correct glass, even though it was after hours. He then patiently spent nearly an hour trying everything he could think of to fit the frame back into my slightly warped window sill. He made it work, because he was concerned and did not want me to have to spend the night with a broken window pane that would allow others access into my home. I can't stress how pleased I am with the professionalism and service of each person I dealt with in this company. I will consider them first when I replace all the floor to ceiling windows in my 1950's house. Great people to do business with.

The wanted to make things right and fix what was wrong. Polite and found the problem. Ordered the right spring and come back in a week and replaced. Surprised they cared and was very apologetic about service before. I would definitely use again since they are good at follow ups on reviews. The made it right. The additional cost was because we had more springs ordered to fix other windows that had gone bad.

They were great. I don't have a complaint on the work that was done. I do have a complaint on how long it took them to complete the work. I had a broken window, called them, and it took three days for them to come out. I thought they were going to replace the window that day. They had to order something and it took an additional week before they got the glass. It wasn't special glass. Then they had to come and install it. It took close to two weeks.

Our rear entry door glass was broken during a home theft attempt. We needed it replaced quickly. Called that evening and scheduled for the next day. I called the next morning and they said they did not have my appointment and no one was scheduled. It was a bit upsetting, but they put me back in the system and guaranteed someone would be out before the end of the day. The technician was polite and replaced the glass and door features/insets. He cleaned up the area and we had our door back by 6pm. Mission Accomplished, :)

All the service people were polite and worked around my hectic schedule. It's nice to have windows I can see through. There was a problem with a leak in one window and they promptly came out to fix it. Turns out the problem was a lose brick under the window which wasn't even their fault, but they didn't charge me for the repair.

We had a disappointing experience with Glass Doctor and our glass shower enclosure that could affect the outcome of the sale of our home. First, Joshua Calhoun was over an hour late to our measuring appointment, then sold us a frameless glass shower unit we thought would look great on our renovated shower, but he failed to detail what "industry standards" would involve regarding the amount of water that would leak out of our shower. Secondly, Josh stated that he would have the glass installed in one week, we waited 2 1/2 weeks. They sent a one man crew to install the glass, (who was on a personal phone call almost the whole time he was here). After about an hour, we could tell there was some trouble with the install, due to Joshua being sent back out to help, but were reassured there was no problem. After the install we were able to look at a distance at the shower (both installers were in the bathroom cleaning up packaging). My husband and I were able to get a better look at the shower glass after the installers left, and found a chip and crack in the top corner of the glass shower door. Also, the gap from the shower door to the side glass was very large, on the upside of 3/8" and the silicone caulking job was gapped and messy on the side glass. We called the office the day of the install, but they were closed. My husband and I took showers the next morning, and the amount of water that leaked out of the door soaked a large bath towel, enough to wring out water from the towel. My husband called and spoke with Brandon. He set an appointment for the following Tuesday. Joshua Calhoun came back out, stated that the gap was too large and acknowledged the chip in the door. He also said that they would replace the glass door within a week. My husband spoke with Brandon over the phone and he also said they would be replacing the glass door. Several days later, Brandon called to say they would not be replacing the door, due to the glass being within industry standards. Brandon also stated that the chip and crack in the door was acceptable if it was not in view 5 to 6' away from the glass and the gap could be within 3/8". I asked Brandon why Joshua had stated the glass door would be replaced and his reply was " he was comforting an angry client". I have been in the service industry over 25 years, dealing with all manner of issues, my husband and I were in no way mean, abusive or outrageous in our warranty concerns. We paid good money for shower glass we expected would not be chipped and cracked or for an enclosure that would leak the amount of water it does. Why does this company believe that an outright lie is comforting? During the conversation, Brandon tried to blame the amount of leakage on my method of taking a shower, I am an adult who knows better than to point the shower head toward the door with a massive gap and flood my bathroom floor. I am truly disappointed in this company, the employees, the product and manner of the customer service. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Steer clear unless you wish to be "comforted" by lies.

Response from Glass Doctor of Dallas Metroplex
Dear Mrs. [removed member name], I am very disappointed to receive your review and dispute with our company. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and customer service. We complete over 9,000 work orders per year, and have never received such an extensive complaint with so many issues. I would like to address your complaints one by one. I think it is important not only for you, but for anyone reading this review to understand both sides of the story so that they can decide for themselves who is being truthful and who is embellishing the truth. Since most people do not have the time to read the whole response, I will simply state that it was incumbent upon you to review the information that you were provided when your order was placed. Your two primary concerns of size and water leakage were both clearly written in the measure sheet directly adjacent to your signature. 1) No customer has ever complained about Joshua, his work, his presentation, or a commitment he has made. 2) Joshua was not late for your measuring appointment. We time slot every appointment. We confirm our appointments a day ahead of time. We have our specialist call our customers before they head their way. Our time and GPS records (fact) indicate that he arrived during the specified time frame. Joshua agrees with this. 3) Joshua stated that he did explain that there is some water that leaks from a frameless shower enclosure when he discussed the shower enclosure with you. He stated that he does this with all of his customers as he has been trained to do. It is also a matter of common sense. Frameless = gaps in glass= some water can leak out of the shower. In order to avoid this issue, we have preprinted on our measure sheet right next to where the customer has to sign it, that some water will escape from the enclosure. Your signature is right next to this disclaimer. 4) Joshua stated that he quoted you a standard install time of 10 business days. He has been trained to tell all of our customers 10 business days from when a shower is ordered. There is no way that he would quote you a one week turnaround. 5) I agree with your comment regarding our other specialist being on a personal phone call while working at your house. He has been reprimanded accordingly and apologizes for doing so. 6) Joshua was scheduled to be the lead man on your shower install. He was not sent back out there because there was a problem. All of our frameless showers are installed by two technicians. Occasionally, one arrives and gets started before the other. 7) Both of our specialists state that you and your husband reviewed the shower enclosure at close range before they left, and that you were both very happy with the job that was done. We train our specialists to review their work with our customers while at the job site. In addition, this is the appropriate time as a customer to review the work. If there is something you are dissatisfied with, they are there to fix it. 8) At that time, you and your husband did not note any damage or imperfections in the glass. Our specialists did not notice any damage or imperfections either. When Joshua came out to review your concerns, he took pictures of the glass imperfection. I have it blown up on my computer screen 250% of life size and there is an almost imperceptible edge imperfection in the glass. There is not a perfect piece of glass. All of them have minor imperfections. The industry standard viewing condition is that the imperfection must be visible at an 11’ distance, a 90 degree angle, and normal lighting conditions. We hold ourselves to 5’, less than half of that distance. This edge imperfection is barely visible at 250% magnification from mere inches away. I am sorry that is not perfect enough for you, but it far exceeds industry standard. 9) You did not make mention to Joshua during his install trip or his subsequent trip of any issues you have with the caulking that was done. 10) Both of my specialists state that the gap between the door and the panel is very close to ¼”. Our measure sheet next to your signature states that our gap tolerance is ¼” plus or minus 1/8”. Our gaps do not exceed 3/8”, and are therefore within our published tolerance that you signed off on. Joshua stated to me very clearly that he never told you that the gaps were too large as you contend. 11) Brandon stated prior to Joshua’s trip that we would replace the door if the imperfection you were unhappy with was significant enough to warrant replacement. Joshua agrees that on his warranty trip he did state that we would replace the shower door. This was his sole error. Every warranty replacement has to be approved by a manager. When our manager reviewed the picture Joshua brought back, it was clear that the issue was so minor and so clearly within tolerance that there is no legitimate reason to replace the door. In addition, you requested that the door be made wider, which is not an option as there is no issue with the width of the door. 12) Brandon did not blame the shower leaking “on your method of taking a shower”. He simply stated that when people use a removable shower head, it greatly increases the chance of water leaking out of the shower.
