I called Morningstar Landscaping after reading all the positive reviews on Angie's List. I scheduled an appointment with Jodi to come over and look at my yard and discuss what I wanted done. The price was right and I couldn't be happier about how everything turned out. I relied heavily on Jodi's expertise on plant selection and placement. It is obvious to me that she loves her work and dealing with people. Her enthusiasm is amazing. Jodi understood right from the beginning what I wanted and needed to make it all come together. It is apparent that she has developed a good rapport with ancilliary businesses, which made the work flow smoothly. Her men cleaned the area and disposed of debris every day so the area surrounding my home was always left clean. My neighbors would never know any work was being done unless they were home to see it. Her crew appears very dedicated to her and were always professional, and I especially like the fact they are employees of the company. I benefitted a great deal from her knowledge and appreciated all the little tips along the way. Jodi called ahead to let me know who was coming, when to expect them and what her crew would be doing. I wouldn't think twice about recommending Jodi and Morningstar Landscaping. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs landscaping or masonry work.

We just moved to this house less than a year ago and had similar work done at our previous house. We already had the design drawn up by our previous landscaper architect/designer who is fabulous but too expensive to do the actual work. In the past, my husband did much of the work himself but he no longer has a job that allows him this time. We got quotes from 2 other landscapers and Jodi came in much cheaper than anyone else. I was a bit skeptical since I hadn't met her, but I completely trust my husband's judgment and he was right on as usual. Jodi is very trustworthy and easy to work with. We have 2 mini dachshunds, one of whom is an escape artist. The crew is very careful with the animals and even showed us where little Houdini was getting out. They always clean up their mess and don't leave anything out where the dogs (or small children) could harm themselves. We'd had mason work done at our previous house and paid much more for less work. Jodi's crew did much higher quality work for less money. Our previous crew just threw down some sand, then stone, then mortar. Jodi's crew put re-bar down first, then poured cement and put the stone on top of that. This stone will look beautiful and stay level for decades to come. We now live in an area with a heavy deer population. Our neighbors all have the same few plants in the front yards. Jodi managed to plant beautiful flowering plants in our yard and the deer haven't touched them. She knows the right combination of plants to put out to keep the deer from eating them. The deer are in the yards around us every morning, but they don't come near our house anymore! Jodi is easy to communicate with. She responds quickly to texts and phone calls and is quick to alleviate any concerns. We highly recommend her.

Morningstar came out and I was very excited about our discussion. They were going to follow up with a written estimate. After 3 weeks I sent an email asking where they were with the estimate and got a auto-reply stating that they were out with a medical emergency. There has been no response from them to futher inquiries since. Really sorry cause they seemed like cool people. Hope everything is ok

Jodi was recommended by a coworker who had her do some patio work at their home, which I saw, and was impressed. I needed additional concrete pathways and patio enlargement so my (handicapped) father could have access to get to his work shed in his wheelchair. The work shed is on the side of my home, about 130-150 feet away from our backdoor. On her initial visit, Jodi noticed that the ramps the other company installed were all wrong. She was concerned and offered to correct both of the ramps at no charge after we signed with her. She also said that she would make them to city code and not dangerous like they were. They removed the concrete ramps and made a very gradual gradual slope and added sq. footage to the front entry with ramp, as well as in the back. The back patio was expanded about 15 feet out by 15 feet around that lead into the pathway, which was 4.5 feet wide. She even made the turning points a little wider than needed, just to make it easier for him to maneuver his wheelchair without fear of falling off the sidewalk. This job was a tonnnnn of work! I think the concrete alone was pushing 1,000 sq. feet and the process took a few days. They supported the foundation with rebar and formed it correctly, and we should know, as our father built custom homes for years. He watched this whole process through the window from start to finish and was very impressed with Jodi and her crews' work ethic and professional skills. After the initial curing time, we were able to walk the patio/sidewalks/ramps and my father is now able to move to his work shed with ease to work on his hobbies. We were so happy with Jodi and her crew. They worked very long hours (in the heat) to get this work completed for us. We will highly recommend her to anyone who needs landscaping or masonry. She is a great communicator, checked in constantly and updated us on schedule. She worked very quickly with our HOA to get a drawing and scope of work approved faster than the 30 day average turn around time - i think it took her 3 days for approval? She had her crew clean their work site (our yards) everyday and dispose of debris everyday as well, so the site was nice and clean too. It is obvious she loves her job, as she was out there working with her crew floating out concrete too! She was extremely easy to work with and showed a lot of care, understanding and compassion about our situation. She even expedited the work to provide us a timely solution. She worked us into her already busy schedule, and for that - my whole family is appreciative and grateful. Many thanks for the good work and much success to you and your company!

Jodi scheduled an estimate and promptly showed up. Once I was ready to start the project, so was she. There was little haggling over the bid because she gave good pricing and included the Angies list deal without me having to ask or without inflating the bid elsewhere. I had to scale it down once the work began because my AC system went out and needed replaced right after the patio installation began. She was gracious about that and didn't mess with me on pricing when I needed to scale down. The installation is high quality materials and construction. I'll definitely use her to complete my project when I'm ready.

Jodi came by the day after I emailed her. We started with the big stuff - extending my back porch and planting trees. She brought ideas on stone choices to cover both my existing porch and the concrete extension her team would build. Her ideas for trees were unique and perfect for their space in my yard - Texas red oak and a fruiting olive. Jodi worked seamlessly with my HOA to confirm our plans complied with both HOA and Austin rules. Instead of the usual 30 day wait, Jodi had the approvals and was ready to pour concrete in 10 days. Her crew formed, put down that road gravel, poured concrete, laid the stone and sealed the porch in less than 2 weeks. This improvement also meant a change to my sprinkler system. With my permission, she called in a contractor who did a great job. Sprinkler systems challenge me and I'm comfortable with water coverage and run times for all sections. In the meantime, her crew worked my front bed, moving existing shrubs to more appropriate places and adding roses, sages and other other heat-tolerant, drought-tolerant plants. I relied heavily on Jodi's expertise on plant selection and placement. I'm very glad I did. Her crew spent more time in the backyard because this is the area I'll spend more time (her insight that hadn't occurred to me). Jodi didn't rush out and pick up all the plants at once. Instead, because Austin hadn't gone through its last cold snap and most nurseries weren't showing their best stuff, Jodi gathered plants for me over time. The whole job was done in another 2-3 weeks. Less than a month after completion, the butterflies are already arriving. When the heavy traffic was finished, Jodi reseeded my young lawn without charge. She didn't have to and I appreciated the extra care. Jodi knows her business and has worked hard to establish a excellent reputation. Her enthusiasm is amazing - though in the beginning I sometimes felt I was the string trying to secure a helium balloon (Jodi). Yeah, I'm that control freak and she had so many ideas. Let's say she truly loves her job. If I told her I was uncomfortable with anything, she addressed my concern immediately. I benefitted greatly from her knowledge and appreciated her connections within the nursery and landscaping community. Her crew is dedicated to her and always professional. As a single woman, I felt secure with them at my house at all times. Jodi made a point to call ahead and let me know who was coming, when to expect them and what they were going to be doing. No surprises. Overall, I'd recommend Morningstar in a heartbeat. They will be the first contactor I call for any other work.

We found Jodi on Angie's List and emailed her based on the reviews we read. Within 24 hours she had responded and set up a consultation later that week. We immediately felt comfortable with her - she's very personable - and she walked us through what she thought would be good to improve our curb appeal. Less than 24 hours later we had a bid, which was within the budget we allotted. She put us on the schedule for the next week, but it rained a few days so it was postponed til the next week. She always kept us informed via email if there were any delays, including when she broke her foot!. Her workers were excellent and very hard working -- they cleaned up everyday before they left so there wasn't a huge mess in the yard. We liked the fact that they worked for Jodi, and weren't just laborers. The stone pathway they made is beautiful and the talk of the neighbors. The retaining wall is also very nice and polished (it was dry stone and falling apart before), and the trees and plants pull it all together. We can't wait to see what the plants look like in another year or two after they are established! All in all it was a very good experience working with Jodi and her crew. We would not hesitate to use her again or recommend her to others.

Good work, some follow up was a little sketchy on a day it rained and no one came out or communicated that day. Price was ok.

We live in Wisconsin but own a second home in Austin, TX in which our children/grandchildren currently reside. I found Morning Star on Angies list and called them from Wisconsin. Jodi got back to me that same evening. Within a day, she had been over to look at the sight and offer some ideas. Her prices were competitive and after seeing pictures of other jobs she'd done, she faxed us a contract. We did this all long distance and I couldn't have been happier. As soon as the weather co-operated, they were out there starting the work. The entire patio, benches, flowerbed border and sealing was completed (start to finish) in about a week. The landscaping had to wait a couple of weeks until all threat of frost was gone. Once it could be planted, most of the landscaping was completed in a day. Several bushes had to wait because Jodi wasn't satisfied with the nursery stock when it arrived and twice she reordered it until it met with her approval. My daughter tells me that the entire staff was professional, courteous and even nice to her children. Jodi called us several times throughout the project, continually updating us on developments. She even phoned me long distance to ask permission before taking a couple (interested in putting in a patio) into the yard to see the work. I have used Angies list many times in both Wisconsin and Austin and have always had good experiences; however, this is the first time I have been moved to write a report. I was 'over the top' happy with this whole experience. Jodi made it smooth, painless.....and the finished job is high quality and beautiful!

I contacted 4 landscapers to get quotes for this job. Jodi of Morningstar Landscaping provided me with the best ideas for path replacement (e.g., the type of stone, color of mortar, etc.) as well as the most competitive bid. The job took several days to complete (in part because of the weather), but Jodi constantly remained in touch with me to update me on the progress. Toward the end of the project, there was one part of the path that was done slightly differently from what I expected, and Jodi and her team immediately rectified the situation. Now that the project is complete, the path looks great and fits very nicely with my patio and the rest of the backyard. Throughout the project, the team was always professional and friendly, and Jodi was easily accessible by both phone and email. I would definitely use Morningstar again for any kind of hardscape project in the future and I recommend it to others without hesitation.

I contacted Jodi at Morningstar after reading the glowing reviews here on Angies List. I have to confirm that the good reviews are well deserved. From start to finish Jodi and her team were a pleasure to work with. They completed the work in a day. An unexpected freeze occurred that night and caused some of the water in the unset concrete to freeze and crack. Not a lot, but some cracks appeared. Jodi made it clear right away that she would take care of it, no problem. We scheduled a repair for Sat., but when I was notified the sauna was scheduled for delivery much sooner than expected Jodi had her team here the next day. I was very impressed with how much she cares about her customers. I would highly recommend the services of Morningstar Landscaping.

Couldn't have gone better. From our first meeting to discuss what I was looking for, Jodi and later her team came when expected and even offered to come on weekends to get the job done. She understood my request to keep the yard rough looking while still making it look great and using plants that won't require much water once established. Jodi's team was professional, knew what they were doing and didn't seem to mind at all when my dog had to investigate everything they were doing. There's one last step on the project which is putting in a small plot of grass. Jodi recommended waiting until after winter to install it in case of freezing temperatures. Wise move given the recent weather. She has kept in touch every few weeks so I know it's still on her list and will get done in the coming weeks. The dog and I will be happy to see them again and let them see how good the yard still looks.

Jodi was willing to work with us on the price, as it was a slow time for her just before Christmas. She gave us a great deal, but might have under bid the work because in the end she needed to charge us a little more for some additional materials. They poured the slab and laid the stone over the holidays. Then Jodi came back several weeks later to seal it. It looks great. We are very pleased.

We had a hole on the side of out house because damage done when we had ground hornets extracted from behind the brick facade. Morningstar scoped it out and said they could do it for free! Only five bricks needed to be replaced and only ones I could get were of different size. The mason ended up doing a fast and terrific job. Better than expected.

We had hired Morningstar to do our stone patio in our back yard. After that job was finished we had wanted to do something about our multi-level backyard. Jodi suggested a retaining wall and steps to even it out a bit. It is exactly what the backyard needed. Now we have two areas that are more level and we can lay down grass and landscaping. Then in the front yard we had tried (on our own) to put down a gravel pathway in the summer and it looked horrible. The Morningstar crew came in and placed stone on top of our work and made it look beautiful. Then they installed a stone border. Our front and backyard are coming together with the professional and knowledgeable work of Morningstar. We would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Jodi and her team did such a good job on the patio and backyard paths we had her do a retaining wall for a part of our backyard that was just really hard to deal with aesthetically. She quoted us a great price and we were pleased we were able to make use of the excess materials from the original project. Normally the landscaper will just load up what's left and use it on another job which I think it pretty shoddy. There were no surprises and her crew was quick and detail-oriented as always. Tony was happy to work out a fix for me regarding the irrigation pipes that ran beneath where the wall was going without affecting the look of the wall. All told this is our second project and I think I have two more lined up for them in the next couple of months. I don't know that I'll ever use another landscaper. We've been nothing but happy.

It was really great to work with Jodi. She focuses a lot of attention to detail and ensures quality. She was professional and very responsive to all of our questions. When she came out to do the consult, I like that she expressed her vision and ideas for the patio, more like a true designer rather than just asking what we wanted and not really providing any ideas. Overall, we are VERY happy with our new patio and with our experience in working with Jodi and her team!

It went extremely well overall. Jodi came out and looked at plans we had already had drawn up and added her own input to them. She was great at working through cost and doing everything in her power to keep us on budget. Jodi and her crew were extremely professional and courteous. They kept the job site clean and were always considerate of our schedule and how to cause as little distraction as possible to our lives. Jodi was also very prompt in returning all messages and checking in with us throughout the process to make sure any questions or concerns we had were answered. I would highly recommend Jodi for any of your landscaping/hardscaping needs.

Quote was beyond our budget, seemed high. Otherwise a positive experience.

We were in desperate need of replacing an old dilapidated multi-level deck. After much deliberation we decided to have it torn down and replaced with a patio. I had one other bid but it was way higher then Morningstar. When Jodi came out to look at the job she was professional, extremely knowledgeable and gave my husband and I the confidence needed to move forward on a major job like this. Jodi helped us every step of the way from choosing what we wanted to do, she helped with our arduous HOA red tape and then was on the job often supervising the professional and thorough workers. We were so hesitant to take on a job like this (it is so easy to get ripped off or disappointed in the final job) but this was A+ work from start to finish. The price was right and we can?t be happier with the incredible job they did and can?t believe we finally have a nice beautiful Oklahoma stone, multi-level with steps patio to enjoy. We are defiantly planning on having her and her team out to do more work in the future.

We are very pleased with Morningstar Landscaping. The patio looks great and the trees are large and beautiful specimens. Jodi and her crew were great to work with. Jodi was especially wonderful about reworking the proposals and her numbers to work within our budget. This became especially important when we realized we had to remove two large trees on top of the other work we had originally been planning. We definitely got the best value working with her.

Work went very well. I like the promptness in which Morningstar responded to my calls and emails, and their responsiveness to my requests to make minor changes to the plan. They showed up when they said they would. The hardscape looks very nice and we're pleased with the work.
